Analysts Scoff at News Corp.-Bing Bid to Ding Google
By: Clint Boulton
2009-11-24

Analysts discounted News Corp.'s rumored move to de-index its Web sites from Google and make their content available exclusively through Microsoft's Bing search engine.

Bernstein Research analyst Jeffrey Lindsay said News Corp.'s alleged plan to remove content from its Wall Street Journal and other Web sites from Google's search engine is designed to put pressure on Google during the renegotiation of its $900 million advertising deal with MySpace. Citing ComScore data that shows Google drives 11 percent to 14 percent of traffic to News Corp.'s U.S. news web sites, such as the Dow Jones properties, Fox News, and the New York Post, Lindsay argued that blocking access to Google's Web crawlers would backfire, impinging traffic at these sites.

Back to the old days when using google gave different results than excite, yahoo or any of the million other search engines of the period.
Now we'll have to have seven search engines instead of one.

whatever Rupert is up to with this? it'll prolly make him more money.... he doesn't make too many big mistakes...

going up against google may be one of 'em...

letting his "kids" form a new political party may be another too...

maybe Rupert is slipping?
