HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Brett Favre will sign with the Minnesota Vikings this afternoon for around $12 million, according to sources at ESPN.

Brett Favre boarded a plane today (Tuesday) at 9:10 a.m. at the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport.

The plane's destination was St. Paul, Minnesota.

Eyewitnesses saw Favre, his wife Deanna and her sister at the airport before the flight departed, but it is unclear who boarded the plane besides Brett. The vehicle that dropped him off was no longer at the airport minutes after departure. As Favre was leaving he commented, "We may know something by dinner."

According to football players at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Favre has not missed one of their workouts in the three weeks since telling the Vikings he would stay retired. Favre was out practicing with the Warrior football team as late as Monday afternoon. He has spent the past seven off seasons working out at the high school.

The Biloxi Sun Herald reported Tuesday Favre's mother, Bonita, said her son will work out with the Vikings Wednesday and should take reps Friday night in a preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I have mixed emotions, but I have always loved to watch him play," she told the newspaper. "This time, however, I thought he would stay retired and stay home. I guess he could not do it."

"They (Minnesota) seem to have a good team in place, and he liked that," Bonita Favre added. "I guess I need to get a Vikings jersey now."

Rumors have been passed around in recent weeks that Favre, a former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets quarterback, would join the Minnesota Vikings before the end of the preseason.

Why can't some athletes just call it a career and go out on top of their game? After last season with the Jets, it should have been clear to Favre. He was a great QB in his day, but he can't last a full season anymore. Know when to say when IMO.

Sunday November 1st at 12:00 noon Favre will walk onto the turf at Lambeau Field sporting a purple uniform. I'm going to be there.

YEP, I am also - or at least in the parking lot eating and drinking. I might be able to get several hundred for each of the four tickets. I see enough games and that is a pretty good profit!

I can hear the BOOing already!!

Almost seems like sacriledge. Does he wanna play that bad? He is definitely besmirching his legacy with this crap. He doesn't need the money. He should have just stayed retired IMO.

I was actually looking forward to seeing Sage in action. This disappoints me a little. Especially if it is true that Favre's long ball is gone.

If Favre can give the Vikings even the threat of a passing attack, Adrian Peterson is gonna put up numbers like we have not seen in a long time...I'd be looking over my shoulder if I was Eric Dickerson...jmo

Honestly though...Favre was an awesome QB. But he is not a passsing attack QB anymore. Best days are gone. He just doesn't realize it.

I think the long ball itself is still there Foot, the accuracy is pretty much gone though. In fact just tonight I got hit on the noggin by one that he launched out of New York last year. [Big Grin]

That's going to be CRAZY!

...Don't know what I'd had done seeing Elway coming into Mile High with a silver and black jersey ...Probably puked.

Matt Ryan looked great against the Rams...7-8 for 81 yds and a td...Falcons offense could be pretty good this year...Did not take long for Ryan to hit Tony Gonzalez with a TD...Gonzo should be a real nice addition to that offense...

Ca'boyz looked ok--not sure about the Jenkins kid...still remember that little tap dance against the Giants, and he got lost in the lights or sumpin last night.

Saw it, he is rediculous...Like I said earlier, if Favre can take some of the pressure off him and keep defenses from stacking the box against the run...Peterson is gonna put up staggering numbers this year...

Well, I didn't do too bad. Called 9 out of 13 correctly so far. I'm also pretty confident on my Monday night picks. So I should end up 11 of 15. Not too shabby.

That was well worth sitting through the entire 4 quarters just for that moment...and then the two point conversion!

GO PACKERS!!

That game made a 33 year old Coach, McDaniels look pretty good. At least for a week anyway.

Had The J.E.T.S! JETS, JETS, JETS! To win.
And the ATL in the Hotlanta...lol

Good game tonight... Brady barly got by didn't he?That dude that ran that kick out and fumbled when they had it won was a trainwreck too.

I like Pitt -3... Da Bears without Urlacker, and poor Cutler play last week seems like a safe pick.

I like the Titans -7... They'll be hungry to get their first win this week at home.

Well that was huge: two grievous turnovers in a row, two scores, but it's still a one-score game.

Dodged a bullet there. Good recovery.

Is anyone following the NYG v TB game? Holy crap TB is getting owned. They haven't had a single first down in the first half. Only 3 mins to go before halftime. NYG has 200 yards total offense, TB has 20. Wow!

Posted by glassman on :

NYG-KC? just saw a personal foul flag thrown for hitting a receiver (after he touched the ball) over the middle to stop him from catching the ball-

they call that football? sorry but catching the ball across the middle is dangerous, they throw flag for that? might as well not play.

or better yet, lets make the NFL play flag football...

ST. LOUIS – Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has been dropped from a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh was to be a limited partner in a bid led by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts, but Checketts said in a statement Wednesday that Limbaugh's participation had complicated the effort. The group will move forward without him...

just curious SF, is that your opinion about why he was dropped or is it Limbaughs?

how many football stadiums in America have been paid for in part or whole by tax dollars or tax subsidies? isn't that contrary to Limbaughs "philosophy"?

Can't Youtube at work but I'll check it out tonight.

As of this morning's news, all of the references to his having said such was traced back to a book that had no source for him actually having said it.

If he actually did say the 'Slavery had it's merit's' then I retract my objection. As a public figure he's got to know that EVERYTHING he says could come back to haunt him.

Posted by glassman on :

not the quote in reference.

do you recall that ESPN fired him from Sunday night football?

the NFL as a whole wants no part of him.

his own quote from the yahoo article:

"This is not about the NFL, it's not about the St. Louis Rams, it's not about me," Limbaugh said. "This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative.

"Therefore, this is about the future of the United States of America and what kind of country we're going to have."

thing is? he's made all his money by NOT being mainstream. no matter how much he and his followers try to convince themselves they are "mainstream"? they just aren't, and quite frankly Rush wouldn't earn a nickel preaching to the mainstream, cuz the mainstream ain't interested in being preached to.

The Saints are hammering the Giants! It's 27-10 in the 2nd Quarter. Saints look like they could very well make a serious playoff run this year if they keep playing the way they have been.

Who lit a fire under the Browns v Lions!?! Been quite an offensive show so far, 24-17 with 11:44 togo in 2nd Quarter. An actually entertaining game thus far.

This is the way these 2 QB's are supposed to play when drafted so high IMO.

Never bet against the Saints
Posted: Dec 09, 2009 6:19 AM CST Updated: Dec 10, 2009 7:38 AM CST

ALBANY, LA (WAFB) - During Sunday's nail-biting Saints game, a man bet his buddies if the Saints pulled out a win, they could pull out their guns and use his huge television set for target practice. Someone videoed the group of "Who Dats" destroy the set and posted it on YouTube.

Wayne Spring, the man who loss the bet, is by all indications a smart man. He is a successful small business owner and pilot. This usually intelligent guy made a big mistake when he offered a harmless bet on Facebook.

"I told them if the Saints can beat the Redskins, y'all can come shoot my 60-inch TV."

Just minutes after the Saints pulled out a thrilling overtime victory, the troops rallied. Before he could realize what was happening, Spring's $3600 60-inch Sony was in his front yard facing a 15-man firing squad.

"Honestly, I never thought it would happen," Spring said. "I thought the TV was safe."

After his friends had their fun at the monitor's expense, Spring decided to join in the fun. He brought out his .30-06 rifle and took a shot at his own television.

"A bet's a bet, so I might as well partake, right? Why not?"

However, after putting countless holes into the television, the motley crew of "Who Dats" was not done.

"The shotgun, the rifle and the pistol just didn't knock the screen out, so I figured I could," said Michael Quave.

His strategic form of attack was to run straight at the television head first. It worked and the screen shattered into bits. Once the smoke settled over the pile of broken glass and shredded plastic, Spring admitted the experience taught him a lesson to never, ever bet against the Saints.

"I am a Saints fan, effective after this happened. I will root for the Saints from here on out, that's a promise to everybody. Like you said, I'm a man of my word," he said.

Spring's biggest problem may be with his wife. She would not comment, though she was smiling.

Vikings D line torched Romo all day long...Favre will get the TV time but the Minnesota defensive line was absolutely filthy today...Reminded me alot of how Strahan, umenyiora and Justin Tuck completely took games over for the Giants in 07-08...

Vikes/Saints is gonna be a good one...

Indianapolis should plan on going for it on 4th downs instead of settling for field goals, i think that 5 feild goals have been missed against the Jets in the last two games.
