NEW YORK (CNN) -- The Republican Party is becoming a cartoon.

Where to start?

Bobby Jindal: "I'm certainly not nearly as good of a speaker as Obama." Good OF a speaker? How about not as good at eighth-grade grammar either. It's embarrassing.

Sarah Palin? Billing the taxpayers for her kids to travel to official events the children weren't even invited to? She finally agreed to pay back the state for that money she took.

Her per diem charges to the state in the amount of $17,000 while she was living at home instead of in the governor's mansion? She has now agreed to pay the taxes owed on that money. Another tawdry grab at a few dollars that didn't belong to her.

Michael Steele, the newly elected chairman of the Republican National Committee, down on his knees apologizing to the helium-filled poster boy of the conservative right? Pathetic.

If the Republicans are ever to emerge from the long dark night they have created for themselves it will have to be without pandering to the right wing nuts that comprise Rush Limbaugh's radio audience. Didn't they learn anything in the last election?

All of which is to say the GOP is blowing it big time. They were handed a golden opportunity to redeem themselves with the election of Barack Obama -- a chance to line up and in unison condemn the evil their party put in the White House the previous eight years.

The country had had a bellyful of George Bush, Dick Cheney, and the rest of the messengers of darkness in Washington who had sold out the principles of the Republican Party in favor of huge deficits, a doubling of the national debt, and a growing intrusion of the federal government into people's private lives.

But instead of getting on board the change train and recognizing the incredible amount of damage their people had done to the country, Republicans go blithely along as though nothing has happened. They're busy obstructing Obama's programs and criticizing the Democrats' spending plans that are aimed at trying to bring the country out of a horrible recession.

I hate to break it to them, but a lot has happened. And they're not going to like any of it.

The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows the Republican Party's favorability rating at an all-time low. President Obama's is at an all-time high. The same poll shows that Republicans are getting most of the blame for the partisanship that hinders governmental progress. And perhaps most telling, when asked which party is best equipped to lead the country out of recession, the Republicans trail the Democrats by a stunning 30 points.

And while all this is going on, the GOP ran a straw poll on who the party's nominee should be for president in 2012. Ready?

Mitt Romney finished first followed by Bobby Jindal, Ron Paul and Sarah Palin.

The Republican Party is marching double-time down the road to irrelevance and they don't even know it.

The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of Jack Cafferty.

Jack Cafferty is clueless. The Republicans pandered to the left in nominating John McCain and lost in a landslide. If the Republicans ever want to gain any credibility, they must become true conservatives. They're no where near that point now.

Obama WILL destroy the economy with his insane spending and wacko socialist agenda (that makes Bush look like a conservative). Once the economy totally collapses, then there will be a great demand for conservative principles. The question is whether conservatives can gain control of the Republican party or whether the party will simply disintegrate as a clone of the socialists.

Now that is truly funny! Don't look now but Obama is exploding the budget deficit and the national debt! He is a direct threat to every freedom loving American and he will commit the ultimate intrusion of the federal government into our lives.

Cafferty, like so many that have been constantly bombarded with the propaganda crap from the right-wing makes the mistake they have conditioned him to make and offers as a claim of fact that the republican party, within the lifetime of anyone living, acts as a principled conservator of fiscal restraint and social responsibility.

Demonstrate what republican administration after the hopelessly failed Hoover fiasco has so much as honestly or even honorably suggested not saddling the Nation with huge financial burdens that staggered the imagination. Republicans talk the talk, then do exactly the opposite. (I do not wish to imply that all of their efforts have been bad ones. Take for example the massive amounts of future monies required in Ike's sneaking the interstate highway system into the budget as a part of "defense" funding, after the Congressional republicans had stiffled all attempts to sufficiently fund interstate transportation, claiming "fiscal responsibility" was their reasoning, when in fact, they only were interested in disenfranchising labor. That camouflaging of a highway as necessary for transporting ICBMs was a stroke of genius that the man realized must be done in order to allow the nations transportation system to not be a bottleneck that restricted commerce and prevented the Nation from competing internationally.)

As for social restraint, the republicans since Hoover have either succeeded or attempted to so weigh down our laws with so massive a collection of religious, racial, and class dependent legislation that our prisons are now nearly full of what they call social misfits and failures instead of criminals (sort of what the Nazis did to start off the concentration camp system they later used to punish Jews and Gypsies and mentally deprived folks for living). In truth, the republicans have laid the keel of so many ships designed solely to float in a sea of intolerance that it boggles the mind.

LESS GOVERNMENT, BY HIND END! No, indeed, more and more all intended as modifications of the Constitution or modification to the social fabric of the culture, so as to eventually destroy it and cast the Nation to the whims of fascism and bigotry.

bdgee,

Did you read the article? I am curious, I don't understand this part of what you posted. "Cafferty, like so many that have been constantly bombarded with the propaganda crap from the right-wing makes the mistake they have conditioned him to make and offers as a claim of fact that the republican party, within the lifetime of anyone living, acts as a principled conservator of fiscal restraint and social responsibility."

I didn't get that impression from the article. He was being very critical of the GOP, which all should be for the mess they put us in. Please clarify, or maybe I misread what your point was.

Posted by bdgee on :

Pagan,

I did read the article. I also quite frequently listen to him on CNN.

I point to his general use of the language of the claims of this recent edition of the republican party, that it is a party of fiscal restrain and social responsibility. He makes that mistake on the TV too, even when, as he was trying to do in that article, speak of the reality rather than the propaganda image planted by the Party rhetoric. He, like you and me and everyone else that has been saturated with the mantra keep repeating the mantra as we salivate to the ringing of the republican Party Pavlovian bell.

What I wish is that it was THE Republican Party and not this usurper of the good name that has so trained us. I fear I wish in vain for some restrain and honor in republican rhetoric and Limbaugh will remain the voice of the Party.

I will emerge sober and much sooner than three years (like daily), as drinking and doping are not habits I have. Perhaps you might consider some sort of counseling to ease up that bitterness and hate, because those are habits you have in more than great abundance. (And some devotion to fact wouldn't hurt.)

Sorry, bdgee, but that was all Glass. Some of us have to get something done during the day. I was out working (attending a couple of Section 8 inspections and trying to find oil based floor paint. It seems you lefty environmental wackos have managed to get it pulled from Lowes.

Actually, that is the result of allowing the freemarket mentality to invade the paint manufacturing business, simply because they make a heck of a lot more money with latex paints. There is a fundamental flaw in whatever it is you use for a thinker.

this is waht the market was reponding to:

Paint-wise I am stunned! I was afraid it will stink for months so i went to local stores to check what they have in odorless paint area. I found that
most of them stunk anyway. Worse was Benjamin Moore - plain stench. Olympics - the one that they advertise at Lowes was also kinda strong smell.. Best was sherwin W. so we went with it. Indeed it smells a bit during painting but nothing close to normal paint and with every minute there is less and less smell... Hmm...

http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/forum/topic27489.html

oil based paint smells for weeks to the average person and months to people with sensitive noses..

some people even have asthma attacks because of it [Eek!]
environmentally concernend people are not wacko.. people who don't give a chit about OUR environment are wacko.

people who would leave the world a mess to make quick bucks are immoral.

Yes, oil based paint smells for a few days. However, it provides superior durability, especially in rentals where tenants often live like pigs.

i'm trying to remeber the last time i had a painted floor in my home... can't come up with one since we had the civil war era farmhouse that had a secondfloor sunporch with a painted tongue and groove floor... we tore it out and replaced it with tile.

doesn't it make you feel all important cleaning up after pigs?

it's such a zen-like rewarding process gettin' on your hands and knees and cleaning the backsides of their toilets [Big Grin]

where do i sign up for such a humility inducing passtime?

did you read the blo g i posted the link to? i mean people actually want paint that doesn't stink... can you beleive the audacity of that? i mean plenty of babies have grown up just fine huffing oil based paint from the first day they came home, right? i bet you did yourself huh? [Wink] and you are just fine right? so why would they worry.. must be whackos... as long as they don't practice birth contorl or have abortions, they are OK in your book but the minute they start caring about their child after they are born? they must be socialists or whacko environmentalists or even commies... [BadOne]

You've got a vivid imagination! Who said anything about a new baby? Believe it or not, I don't wait until the tenants go to the hospital to deliver a baby to paint the floors. I paint the floors when I'm rehabbing the rentals (when they're vacant). The smell lasts a few days and then it's gone.

The good news is that Menards still has the oil based floor paint and I was able to get plenty to paint the floor tomorrow morning.

i think you suffer cognitively. i posted this just above:

http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/forum/topic27489.html

people actually want non-oil based paints. they are not wacko.

furthermore? thy might smell to you for only three days but to some people they smell much longer.

they also contribute to the ozone levels and ozone at ground level is hazardous to humans, i do science projects with my kids involving high voltage- the sparks also produce ozone and we can actually smell the ozone. we are always careful to limit our exposure but we do not avoid it completely we do avoid becoming part of the high voltage dancing tho [Big Grin] ...

as you noted? menards still keeps them. as do my local hardware stores. so your complaint about the whackos is off-base. it's about marketing. limits have been placed on production of them, but they are still abailable. maybe Lowes gets a higher profit margin on th eother stuff.. oil is fairly cheap paint.

for superior durabilty? i go with two part epoxy paints. they last much longer, but i can't use iton my shop floor cuz sometimes hot glass (1500 F) hits it...

You got that right. Low grade floors for low grade tenants!

Most low income tenants aren't smart enough to have carpet, vinyl, laminate, ceiling fans, screen doors, sink sprayers, garbage disposals, dishwashers, storm windows, or many other things. This is in large part the fault of the socialists who insist on giving these deadbeats everything, instead of making them work for things. The lefties have stripped them of all pride and dignity. That enslaves them in poverty and they live like what they are.

So, the fact that I paint the wood floors with oil based paint is YOUR FAULT - all you lefties. YOU turned these people into deadbeats and you are responsible for their behavior.

You are such a raging hypocrite. And you call yourself a Christian? Guess you forgot about this passage from the bible. Among many other verses:

"A saying from the Bible's story of Cain and Abel. After Cain had murdered his brother Abel, God asked him where his brother was. Cain answered, “I know not; am I my brother's keeper?”

Cain's words have come to symbolize people's unwillingness to accept responsibility for the welfare of their fellows — their “brothers” in the extended sense of the term. The tradition of Judaism and Christianity is that people do have this responsibility."

Pagan,

I do appreciate your point, but.....

PM has proved over and over that he isn't capable of appreciating those things normal humans are born with in their souls in order to be human. Pointing to the Bible won't change his sort of scum.

I must question even the idea of allowing consideration of him being human. That means we should not allow him the privileges that one human grants to another as a matter of course and courtesy. He's not worthy of the thought we grant to a mangy rabid skunk. (We should be thinking of the protection of human kind and that leads to a definite if unpleasant conclusion.)

you cannot "give" people freedom or dignity.

the average IQ in the US is 100, that means half the people are below 100...

an IQ of 80 means a person is barely able to take care of themselves.

look at this graph:

 -

if your IQ is over 90? [Good Luck] you should be able to figure out fairly quickly how many people are just plain unable to "succeed" in society..

what would you do with them?

you should be able to figure out fairly quickly how many people are just plain unable to "succeed" in society..

what would you do with them?

How high of an IQ does it really take to do manual labor? Flipping burgers, pounding nails, or putting a part on a car as it moves down the assemply line - very low IQ required!

I'd have to say that it doesn't take much of an IQ to be a property manager either...in fact I'd say that you could be a complete IDIOT and still manage to be a property manager...

Then it is a VERY good possibility that you are indeed a complete IDIOT...

Its really going to get good here now that pimple azz Limbaugh starts to act like the spokesman for the gop.

Can't wait for the foolish to make themselves
public fools.

there isn't anybody with enough ego to compete with him.

besides he keeps telling us that God chose him. there is no higher authority, and arguing with people like that is futile cuz they never realise how much of an azz they make of themselves....

he could coach the losing team in the superbowl or the world series and in the post game interview he'd explain to you why his team is still the best team, and the other team sux.. [Wall Bang]

Does Fat Rush provide or allow for some other to provide valid and accurate transcripts of his radio blather so the public can keep a record of his so very numerous claims?

I can, for example, recall him, time after vociferous time, demanding that, any person, arrested (no, he did not say convicted) of drug possession or any other violation of drug laws, be "tossed in jail forever", but I have never seen anyway to cite it other than mine and others memory. And since his own run in with the law on drug violations, I have heard him deny he ever said those things.

Limburger is about the worst hypocrite in this or any other century!

If we are going to start rewarding no skills and stupid people - I'm serious, let the unskilled jobs, let the kinds of jobs that take absolutely no knowledge whatsoever to do - let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work”
Rush Limbaugh

where'd i put that bell curve? fully 15 percent of the legal US population is not mentally or physically competent

now after he said that? he followed up with:

“Bigot-A person who wins an argument with a liberal”

“The NAACP should have riot rehearsals”

Rush Limbaugh

“Women were doing quite well in this country before feminism came along”
Rush Limbaugh

i like this one:

“[Democrats] don't have reasons for people to vote for them. They're just trying to gin up anger and resentment for their opposition. And it's just not working anymore.”
Rush Limbaugh

“Liberals attempt through judicial activism what they cannot win at the ballot box”

Rush Limbaugh

here's a good example of how hypocritical he is “… just the idea — that this disaster is looked upon as an opportunity for political gain by the left, and that particular political gain actually results in a decline of Western lifestyles, that's something that ought to sober everybody. I wouldn't be talking about this, I assure you, were it not for the fact that others on the left are out there making these asinine, ridiculous statements, and they have to be responded to and reacted to.”

Rush Limbaugh

now this?

So what is so strange about saying I want Barack Obama
to fail if his mission is to reconstruct and reform this nation so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation? I want the country to survive. I want the country to succeed.

Rush Limbaugh

it's not strange, it's just hypocritical... maybe he's just simpleminded and can't remember what he says..

“If you're working to make the playing field fair and level, you're working for the wrong reasons. Work to take the opportunities that arise and use your individual talents to excel at those opportunities.”

Rush Limbaugh

nope he can't be simple: his talent is on loan from God.

Awe, common, Rush! What if the talent that God gave you was "to make the playing field fair and level". It's a sin to waste that talent, man. So now you are telling me you should go against the teaching of the Bible?

you are just slow arntcha... i posted them each cuz they demonstrate a lack of humanity. it's not even a matter of objecting, he has the right to say them, but if you don't see the oxymorons then you will just call my explanations gibberish. i am confident that anybody with an IQ of 110 can see them.
