"Washington Post-ABC News poll found 68 percent of Americans approve of Obama's job performance."

"New York Times/CBS News poll, Obama has a 63 percent job approval rating and more than 75 percent of Americans are optimistic about the next four years with him as president."

"polls found widespread support for Obama's effort to bridge the partisan divide in Washington and found fault with Republicans for balking."

"Eighty percent of Americans think Republicans should work in a bipartisan way rather than holding fast to their policies, according to the poll."

cow,

You are all hate bitterness. I don't know when the last time you uttered something that made sense and was possibly honest, but I can assure you that, generally, you are not considered responsible and honest and there is more than a serious question about the depth of your intellect.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, * * *

What superbly fine tuned egomaniacal myopia you display. It's as if you really are, as your hateful and simple minded chanting chisels the impression into reality, the only voice in a huge echo enhancing chamber of self denial, within which, in splendid ignorance of the physical proof of obvious reverberation and with the autistic truth of your own self-centered being, you hear the singularity of your own crude repeated chanting as a cheering call to arms of a whole crowd of worshipers of your idiocy.

Oh, they say something. Indeed they say a lot. But it would be a hopeless fool that would expect a hopelessly ignorant by choice fool like you to be able to comprehend what it is. Your eager confirmation of your massive ignorance is not surprising, though. (It's almost like like smearing peanut butter on the trigger pan of a rat trap....not difficult to predict that you will find the attraction too great to resist and nose out the delicious smell, then.....SNAP! My, my , my, look who stepped in it and proved himself to be exactly what he is....)

Republicans should work in a bipartisan way?

How many Democrats voted for the Stimulus package? How many Democrats even expressed concern over any part of the stimulus package?

NONE! Now thats bipartisan isn't it.

That's a quote, you might bother to notice, not something I said. (I do note that it is scientifically derived and supported and meets with my satisfaction.)

" Republicans should work in a bipartisan way?"

Indeed they should!!!!!

"How many Democrats voted for the Stimulus package? How many Democrats even expressed concern over any part of the stimulus package?"

The correct answer to both is not the denial of fact you posted, but a simple "Most did"

How do you come to that stupidity, cow?

She has never succumbed to the love of Fat Rush or Cutthroat and Superbly Stupid Coulter and isn't enamored with the lies you collect from that lame brain Hanity.

Just because Peloshi is not one of the Failed Via Absolute Political Ignorance of the far right-wing radical un-American religious extreme, like you are, you think it is smart to post lies about her. It is decidedly un-Christian! You and your's belong in the same hive with the ben Ladens of this world.

Oh, by the way, I have never voted for Peloshi or suggested that anyone else vote for her, so the absurd accusation that I support her is just plane unadulterated uncomposted horse sh-t, like 99% of what you post.

Actually, I find Barny Frank's honesty and openness to be perhaps the most refreshing of all Congressmen. You might pay attention to that man and what he says, as it is clear that he is a good and true Christian, in every sense of the word. You are not!

Yeah, ya missed it. not because they are hidden or secret or it is difficult to locate that information, but because it doesn't fit your cause, so you didn't bother to check it out. You want to spread lies and nonsense and it would lessen the effect to have the truth. But that doesn't make them anywhere close to patriotic. No it marks then as disagreeing with a whole lot of true patriots and going along with the disgusting republican Party before country obstructionist mentality.

I am going to love this there might not be a republican party in eight years.

You don't want to look it up so you can claim to not know, because the actual facts foul up your whole approach to debate, that is, lie about facts and use the lie as if it were fact to claim a discredit to those that aren't to blame.

If you are too lazy to check the facts before posting the lie, your post are nothing but the standard republican hate and propaganda and don't deserve anything but to be ridiculed.

what's wrong with this country?

you can go back to Newt and Hillary to find the root here. Politics has become a game of gotcha.

I don't support Franks or Pelosi. The thing is? they earned their position, and just like the presidency you have to respect the office but not the person.

Obviously the people that have re-elected Pelosi and Franks feel that they have represented them well... they are where they are due to seniority...

attakcing them will not make people vote GOP...

i won't vote for a total jerk in my district just because it will get Pelosi outathere... nobody else will either...

all politics are local...

as for Obama "allowing" Pelosi to make the "stimulus" bill?

that's how this govt is supposed to work.

Bush allowed Cheney to corrupt his mind inot thinking the President is more important than the Congress. It ain't... The Judges are no more or less important either.

if the GOP is going to retake the house? then they better setup a few stings to cathc the corrupt members, cuz that's how the GOP lost it's seats.

bdgee is right! My mistake there are a hand full of Democrat patriots that voted against the stimulas bill.

Posted by raybond on :

GOP Against Stimulus Part of Stimulus BillSo the Republicans are all for a good Economic Stimulus bill, meaning one that would stop taxing the rich and stop any corporate taxes and also, somehow, further ruin the environment and whatever. As a result of this clear “small government” philosophy the big-spending corporate-welfare closeted homosexuals adopted last week, GOP congressional leaders have found the parts they just can’t tolerate in the Economic Stimulus legislation: the parts that would create jobs and build American infrastructure. Yes we can’t!

Look, whatever anybody’s uninformed opinions about this Rescue the Economy package, you should at least be able to reconcile “support for economic stimulus legislation” with “support for legislation that will throw a bunch of money at the economy, in the form of money paid for goods and services, manufacturing and labor, and other traditional uncontroversial gears of Capitalism.”

So, here are some specific things the GOP will not condone, in this bill they’re not going to vote for, anyway:

A billion dollars extra for the 2010 U.S. Census, which is going to pay good money to many jobless people in every American town — and shore up Lockheed-Martin, which is getting $500 million to build the data systems and run the machinery.
$75 million for FBI employee salaries, because why would you want to pay America’s top cops to do law enforcement and investigations, in America?
$500 million for Mississippi River flood control projects, which would employ thousands of laborers and keep dozens of construction companies in business, because nothing makes Republicans happier than seeing a Katrina repeat on the teevee every other hurricane season.
$200 million for green vehicles on U.S. military bases and $600 million to replace the federal fleet of cars with hybrids, because only a gay communist could see the economic benefits of $800 bmillion in sales for U.S. auto manufacturers while simultaneously cutting the government’s gasoline bill by billions per year.
$1.4 billion for rural garbage-disposal and recycling programs, because who but an Islamo-Fascist would want to provide much-needed jobs for the Red State countryside while keeping toxic garbage out of those people’s drinking water?
$125 million to rebuild the broken, rotten, third-world sewer system of our Nation’s Capital. You give the blacks this, and who knows what they’ll want next! And by “give,” we mean “pay a decent wage to laborers in D.C., to rebuild their sewers.”
$6 billion to pay dozens of big regional contractors, hundreds of local businesses and tens of thousands of American workers to retrofit federal buildings so that they’ll be energy efficient.
$200 million for computer centers at community colleges, because if poor unskilled workers want to “learn the computer,” they should just go to Stanford instead of complaining.

Stupid? No, too much truth for you, maybe, but it isn't stupid.

Until reporting of simple observation and obvious fact become the definition of stupid, that was not stupid.

No, you are confusing non-republican with progovernment again and requiring that progovernment be interpreted the way Reagan would, i.e., ultra evil because it is government, and at the same insisting, without bothering to look at the beast to see if it has legs even. I admit, that right now in particular and perhaps for several years, the republicans have treated anything not republican as if it is all one big scheme designed to defy republicanism and they do often label things that way, then tag them with the additional pejorative label of "progovernment", but that is a figment of their propensity of to reduce anything that doesn't aim toward casting things in their mold of government-hate to something evil. It's time to get over that worn out notion that you can oversimplify all things social as governmental or not and live by to the absurd assumption that if it is government it is bad.

Thatpost bond had is simply truth and another clearly obvious truth is that government, from the smallest to the largest, is of a size and complexity that is a function of the size of the population. If you don't like it, that's one thing, but trying to ignore the facts or demand that government get smaller or less complex is a demand to lower the population.

Less government? Genocide, anyone?

How much money has been spent in the last two weeks again?

GOVERNMENT is the pig on the table gentlemen. Government is the biggest pork slice of them all. Now, we expand even further? Once they get their hooks on taxpayer dollars it is an addiction they cant break. How many staffers does a congressperson need? Bush should have never started homeland security. Just another government black hole for tax dollars. Dont we have ENOUGH agencies out there? Why cant Obama make CUTs besides a few military projects the pentagon wants?

Obama says nobody making under $250K will pay more taxes. BULLSH** because the taxes will be raised elsewhere. Such as taxing the most heavily taxed industry of them all...oil and gas. They dont tax, and cant tax arab oil production, but they buy 70% of it and tax the people to use it. They do tax the hell out of the AMERICAN independent oil producer as if they were being punished for producing energy for America. Taxes get passed down to the consumer in ANY industry.

NO MORE OBAMA-O!!!

Nah I got that.. You've always been partisan opposed to republicans since you've been on this board. So much so that I've labeled you as a party operative. Quite likely I am right.. It happens as you know.

Rel,

The facts are that I am a red pickup drivin red neck and proud southern boy with a gun rack in the rear winder, often sportin, therein. a gun or two, so folks understand that I don't truck with those that try f---in around with mine or with your rights under the 2nd Amendment, so it ain't necessary to say it via bumper sticker.

My truck with the republican party comes as a result of that party turnin fascist and anti-American and lyin about it over and over and all that happening even before it chose to become the Racist Party of America and lean on racial divide in order to garner the vote of the mentally and emotionally burnt out segregationist of the old south, which is about all it has for a loyal following any more.

The Party has replaced honest political debate with hate and character assassination, mostly because it insist on basing everything it claims to support on racial bigotry and burned out and proved to be fallacious 18th century catch catch phrases it likes to post as bumper stickers today, often accompanied by a side by side bumper stickers with some 19th century racial insinuation, none of which or all of 'em stacked together hold up as even semi-valid in debate material, leaving the Party no other recourse but the hate and slander they then assault with.

Am I an activist. Damned right I am! For the United states of America and its Constitution, which I, contrasted with most proud republicans, have read, and I therefore know does not contain anything declaring this Nation to be restricted to the support of or to subjugation by any sort of financial or economic system or religious system or type, what-so-ever, irrespective to the far too often stated claims of Republican Party propaganda.

You and yours fall to swiftly to branding any and everything to belong to only one of two camps, republican and non-republican, ignoring that that second division may and does contain many varied facets and types and assuming that the first is actually republican....it hasn't been for over 3 decades.

no he didn't, he's a libertarian.

the Dems will do the crap Dems do and the GOP will get back in eventually.

Obama might be different, he knows the history books will already have special notations for him, and he may stand up to the party.

anybody who expected him to do that in the first month was delusional...

as it is? i don't expect him to do much standing up against his own party in his first term.

if he gets a second? i bet he slamdunks a few of 'em.

Bdgee a libertarian, I think not. He's definately represented himself as a big government socialist and DNC lacky. He has not stopped championing the likes of Dodd and Frank, and tries to belittle anyone who disagrees with the DNC agenda.
relentless is libertarian, budgee is a silly goose.

how did you miss the fact that i was responding to bdgee.

relentless has alwyas expressed a dim view of govt.

what i find amusing is how the GOP is now suddenly anti-govt (on TV)

bunch a damn lying hypocrites. at leas the Dems are honest when they tell you they are going to tax and spend.

the GOP took itself outa the game by lying and cheating..

Hastert? Frist? DeLay? Cunningham? OMG, the list is so long why can't anybody remember why they are gone?

who was that old fart from Alaska that builds bridges? sheesh...

OK, i just pulled the last one from the list and searched it...

advanced earned income tax credit (882 million tax increase? )

here's what it is:

A1. The advance EITC allows taxpayers who expect to qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and have at least one qualifying child to receive part of the credit in each paycheck during the year the taxpayer qualifies for the credit. The credit is sometimes called the AEITC.

http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96515,00.html#QA1

srtaight from the IRS...

as far as i'm concenrend? the whole article FOS..

first one i checked is a non-issue, think about it. EITC is oneof the biggest beaches the GOP has... it give poor people money they didn't earn... it should be deleted entirely...
keeping people from getting it early is a tax increase? i don't think so.

out of curiosity? here's the next one up the list

geological and geophysical amortization period for independent producers

The provision excludes gross receipts of the taxpayer derived from the sale, exchange, or other disposition of oil, natural gas, or any primary product thereof from the term `domestic production gross receipts' for purposes of section 199. The term `primary product' has the same meaning as when used in section 927(a)(2)(C), as in effect before its repeal. The Treasury regulations define the term `primary product from oil' to mean crude oil and all products derived from the destructive distillation of crude oil, including volatile products, light oils such as motor fuel and kerosene, distillates such as naphtha, lubricating oils, greases and waxes, and residues such as fuel oil. 86

tough chit... this was obviously a specially lobbied law from the oil co's...

get rid of all the specialty tax loophole laws. lower the statutory rate as as soon as possible...

the next one?

13 billion - repeal manufacturing tax deduction for oil and natural gas companies

see above [Wink]

says who? SOMEBODY hasn't been paying it, otherwise we wouldn't running a 10 trillion dollar deficit.

we pay every penny of it when we buy the stuff anyway. buy less? and you'll pay less. it's that simple...

in Alaska? the oil and gas people pay something like 90% pf the state taxes. Palin likes that i hear, she raised em on them.

none of this is stragihtforwrd, you want a better government forget the hate, and the propaganda.

find out what really works and what doesn't and fight for or against them..

whether you like it or not? we are in this mess because of the GOP. cutting taxes got us right here where are....

fact is? we owe our country more than a salute when they sing the anthem. (some have already paid, and i know that's you but i think you get my point)

nobody should be getting loopholes to get out of paying what they owe.

as for funding roads? without roads? there's less oil to use.. that raod money is a federal tax that is passed directly to the consumer...

Posted by bdgee on :

Without roads, about 90% of which are made of asphalt, to whom will the oil companies sell that ultra heavy crude? It cost a fortune to refine it far enough to make diesel or gasoline from it. (The major part of road construction is preparation and construction of the underlayment, whatever the final surface is made from, and that underlayment depends on petroleum products (mostly light tar, but some plastics) for moisture barriers.)

(Too, those roads that aren't asphalt get patched with asphalt. Of course if you aren't going to be willing to pay for them, then there won't be any needed for that either)

wow. you must be related to Sherlock Holmes...
even if it is distantly...

do you know how and why loopholes came to be?

mostly because some cousin of a Senator got a job doing NOTHING at some corporation that benefits...

eventually even the company cannot tolerate the lazyazz and fires him, but the loophole stays..

in the meantime some accountant gets paid 7 figures cuz he wasted his/her life poring over ridiculously crafted laws and figuring out all the loopholes and then they spend their worthless pitiful life teaching co's how to contort and pervert their businesses to fit into the mess...

inefficient and downright stupid...

Wrong Glass,

Over the past 25 years, oil companies directly paid or remitted more than $2.2 trillion in taxes, after adjusting for inflation, to federal and state governments—including excise taxes, royalty payments and state and federal corporate income taxes. That amounts to more than three times what they earned in profits during the same period, according to the latest numbers from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and U.S. Department of Energy.

These figures do not include local property taxes, state sales and severance taxes and on-shore royalty payments.

http://www.taxfoundation.org/news/show/1168.html

Just because they made a profit in 2008 doesnt mean they dont pay taxes. When everyone thinks of oil companies they think exxon. They dont think about the small independent energy producers that make up most of the production in the nation.

"The past year has clearly been a good year for oil companies. However, these large profits should be viewed in proper perspective, given the staggering amount of tax the industry currently pays and remits to governments at the federal, state, and local levels. As the experience of the past quarter-century has shown, governments have actually “profited” more from the oil industry than the industry has earned for its shareholders"

What an idiotic excuse for reason! cowbrain, no one said the oil companies didn't pay ANY taxes. They surely haven't been paying their fair share.

No, dumbazz, that is not the fact or even close to a fact. It is clear that you can't get the facts right and, in you child like mind, confuse reality with your skewed perception of it, you choose to misrepresent it with what you choose to see. It is abuses if the system by Big Oil, backed up by 18th century political mantra from corrupt right-wing strong arm tactics financed by corporate money that acts as the enemy and steals from the Nation.

And here is another line of bull sh-t from your idiotic assumptions that you put out and claim to be fact,

"Now that oil prices are WAY DOWN, they will start to lose money"

HORSE HOCKEY!

You need to grow up and learn to do simple arithmetic and stop spreading that republican manure.

Get over your backward fascist insistence that demands that the U.S. continues to be the only non-second world nation that refuses to provide health care to its people, so that businesses have to provide insurance to employees and then get to pass on the cost three fold in price increases to the public. It simply isn't practical for a government, acting through and for the benefit of Big Business, to extract that much of its national product to a self serving, outdated, and failed political dogma!

You hopeless fool. Wealth isn't the prescribed function of the human race and its opposite is not a detriment for quality of life on earth or even in these United States of America. The simple minded inference of your assertion is that David Livingston, Galileo Galilei, Mother Teresa, Henry Thoreau, Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Karl Weierstrasse, and Nikola Tesla, along with many thousands of others upon whom the modern world depended to stretch itself out of almost inhuman stagnation and detriment wasted their lives.

I traded my opportunity to become wealthy for the opportunity to live a life of contribution and, even more, the chance to live a life free of the encumbrances of property and other things physical. It was a choice I knowingly made and, at that time as well as now, thought of as a freedom I had, not a violation of duty to the state. (As a barely teen ager and even before, I idolized Thoreau, his philosophy, and his writings.)

PM, your constant assertion that to do as I did (and do) is wrong shows a desire, even an insistence, to have society and political philosophy determine what a person does with his or her life, i.e., government control! (And you don't appear to be quite bright enough to recognize it.) Doesn't sound exactly American to me!

"I'm not sure that you can get wealthy with a degree in gibberish! LOL!"

What I am sure about is that, whatever it may be that you are sure about isn't something you are qualified to have serious considerations about.

Moreover, The question never had wealth as any sort of factor or input of any kind. Of course, that automatically places it outside any ability you have ever had to consider, making the question incomprehensible to your ilk and, of course, to you, merely gibberish, just as it would be to a ground hog or a night crawler or an amoeba or a stink bug.

here's the thing. very few people really want to be wealthy.

sure, alot of people talk about it. then they buy that lotto ticket and feel cheated. bad luck.

fact is? anybody who really wants to be wealthy in the US can with 40% tax rates. it's not easy. but nothing worth having is easy. being the best horn player that he can be is not easy.

being the best pitcher in baseball is not easy.

that brings me to the major complaint of most middle class Americans today. they aren't mad cuz somebody has wealth an d they don't, they are mad cuz the people that have it cheat. just like the pitcher who really is the best without steroids got cheated by the guys that took them.

personally? i don't care if they take steroids. it's their nuts that turned into raisins not mine.

as for extreme wealth? i grew up surrounded by it. i never saw so many miserable people anywhere else in the US... plenty of 'em in third world countries tho.

i know a girl that literally destroyed two or three caddy's a year... i had some fun doing it with her for little while...daddy just gave 'er another one, and that was the only time he talked to her.. get it? that's just one example.

i know plenty of wealthy people that aren't miserable too, but it has absolutely nothing to do with their money. it has to do with how they relate to the people around them...

Your perception of what is and isn't socialist is childish and askew of reality, along with your eagerness to assign membership in philosophies you have little understanding of to others. It is your crooked viewpoint atop your eagerness to misconstrue facts that is the problem.

Anyway, I am not a socialist or anything near to it. That I am not a far right-wing extremist is correct, but your construing the lack of far right-wingism to being extreme left or even left speaks to your bias, not mine.

And your constant assertions to such effect are insulting, to say the least. I do stand up for truth and openness and factual representation of political events, but, in spite of your wanting to declare that (as well as anything else that is not far right-wing evangelical christian extreme) to be socialist, it is not.

What more can you say? You can cease saying that whatever is beyond your ability (or willingness....or both) to properly understand is the absolute opposite of what you are and want to be.

You need stop the assertions you are too prone to make via your narrow process of thought and get off the arrogant stupid idea that you have the ability to understand me or anyone not trapped in the limited ignorance in which you stew. There is far more to life and even to political thought and process than what you wish to consider (or maybe that you are capable of seeing).
Your the only one on this board that has insulted everyone that remotely disagrees with your agenda. It is for that that you are labeled.

You right-wing racial bigots just can stop making absurd wild assertions and insults, can you?

I don't harbor any beliefs about Islam, good or bad, no matter what some of them did or didn't do, just like I don't think Jews are bound to be serial killers because David Berkowitz was one.

You guys are hateful bigots and you need to get over thinking like preteens on a drug bolstered religious rampage, out to kill off all the witches you can identify, whether or not they float or not.
