There are very few things that can change what is going to happen to America in the future....

One thing that I think could save us is if the U.S. Navy or some government agency come up with a cure for aids or cancer. They could sell it to the whole world and let the U.S. government keep the profits...."Bye Bye National Debt"

I wouldn't be surprised if the U.S. Government has some pretty big secrets....and that's why they can laugh off these Huge Bills for NASA projects, Stupid wars, ect...they know when ever they want they can sell cures, release U.F.O. technology, Ect....again this is all stuff Im just making up in my head....and is the only thing that can fix our debt...something huge....

Otherwise there is nothing to help us....it may be 50 years away, but unless The American Life style changes, and the American Dream changes....we our doombed. I'll tell ya....I like my $400 cell phone, $20,000 car, $100 shoes, too.....I think we're f#cked!!!!!

Education works wonders for any society, though its effects are mostly ignored and unappreciated.

It was really massive literacy (nothing fancy or in depth, just simple literacy, manufactured by a zeal for public education) and the luck of having the largest wheat field on earth that made the U.S. able to develop an industrial and economic capacity that dominated the world.

By the time WWII came along, that literate society had progressed so that the common man (and woman) could quickly grasp from a blue print the reality of quite complicated machinery and that "wealth", with the safety of being located beyond two great oceans and no local antagonistic Nation, provided "our side" the overwhelming power to win.

This nation, despite the clamor of the radicals to decry our schools with so called "proof" that Japanese and German and Russian and one after another country's 8 and 12 year olds test better on standardized test, still dominated the world in science, mathematic, engineering, and so forth, and our workforce far out pace other nations in productivity in work done per hour. Standardized test do not predict life long scholarly abilities or success.

No magic or secret invention or knowledge is required to maintain our leadership or even to step further ahead. Get back to believing in our kid's abilities and stop preaching how dumb they are compared to other kids and stop letting the anti-science and religious doctrine fanatics dictate what we teach in schools and we will be fine. Schools and curricula, from kindergarten to doctoral levels are to expose students to information (not dogma) so that that their own curiosities and competitiveness will drive to accomplishment.

No, a solid education won't make an engineer out of each and every little pig tailed girl and not every freckle face little boy with a tadpole in a tin can and a hide-less taped over baseball in his backpack will end up designing new drugs to fight off terrible diseases, but failing to teach and encourage science in favor of Genesis and refusing to expose kids to rigorous geometry will assure that no one will.

The way to rule the world is through educating the masses and the way not have to have to rule the world is too.

It's fun to see some of these old threads now that you are posting again Ace.

And to answer your question...I think it will. Question is will he get a second term? He's got my vote but he needs a few more than that. [Smile]
