I don't have one for a different reason, but that tracking crap would be enough reason to not have one.
Of course, most of them can't track you if they are not powered, though, with some, it requires disconnecting the battery or other source of power and not just switching it off.

Yeah...for instance on my cell my morning alarm will still go on even when I have turned the phone off...the only way to disconnect is if I take out the battery!!

Mine is the same, but I can turn off the wireless or go wifi only. I'm not sure if they can still track it or not.

I also have an aircard for my laptop...through sprint..I am 90% sure that is trackable. lol. I have nothing to hide so why should I worry about it?

when i was repoing, i snagged a harley offa guy living in a trailer park.
i was alone, so i had to hang it in the sling.
i pushed the damn thing 1/4 mile away and had it in the air when the guy and his girlfriend showed up in their car with a ruger redhawk which is one of the biggest revolvers on the market... (apparently he gets up early for work).....
of course they wanted me to put the thing down and i refused.
there was a little shouting and the county mounty finally shows up.
i showed him my paperwork, told him i'd already called it in to the state police and i'd apreciate it if he would get these slobs outa my hair...
once it's in the air and offa the property it's MINE.
oh, and by the way? the chick pointed a gun at me, and i want to press charges..
he asked her where the gun was, and she truthfully said she put it away when i told her to...
funny how people will do stuff if you give them an order in just the right way sometimes...
cop says no gun, no charges ,
then he said put the bike down on the ground and leave.
i was pissed.. this was a 1000$ bounty htat three people had already failed on cuz he had it locked up pretty good.... and slept right inside the window 3 feet away...
(don't ask me how i got it, but the first thing a repo man learns is get rid of any broken locks as soon as you make them..)
anyway? it turns out the guy was a paid informant in the local drug scene, i did mention this to some other people i knew that would be very inhappy about his "extra job" .. the locals were protecting their stooge..the State Police had to tell me that after about two hours of tense discussion... since they already had the repo on the books? it caused quite stir...
in the end? i coulda got my money from the county, but it mighta gotten a little more dangerous working in that county.... i took about five cars a week there so it was just good business to fuggettaboutit

in my experience? the ones that work vice and drugs tend to be a little too "interested" in their work...

My wife calls me a bad monkey sometimes...
I don't have a problem with the tracking in the phone. Has been used for good more than a few times already...helped find the last known location of Dru Sjodin after she was kidnapped, raped, and killed. Also has been used to rescue stranded motorists in blizzards, mountaineers, etc.
I don't really like the idea of the government using it but that isn't because of the technology...it is because I don't really trust our government right now.

Big, it's because of not trusting our government that any of us doesn't like the tracking capability, particularly when it is installed by Governmental edict, as is the case with GPS circuitry in cell phones.

Most of the GPS radios for phones do not transmit anything... They are receivers. The possibility of the government to find a way for the phone to upload location is concerning, no matter if they say they'll use it for good or not. Government lies. That's all they really do.

That is not all they do.
They try to keep secrets....from the people. Secrets about things they shouldn't even be doing.
(And then when it is found out that they are doing it they declare whomever let out the secret to be unpatriotic or un-American or criminal and expect us to go along with it.)
