I see the trained 28% are still waving the flag at every opportunity and pushing the fear tactics of the RNC and dubya and hollering that everyone else is not patriotic.

You are just like a monkey trained to run about and wave a little red, white, and blue flag with 13 stripes and 50 stars.....smart enough to be taught tricks and learn obedience but no where close to smart enough to think for yourself or understand what you are doing or what it amounts to.

WAVING THE FLAG DOES NOT MAKE YOU PATRIOTIC and not waving a flag is not a mark the lack of patriotism.

You make me sick, I report from amongst the 72%.

but anyways like i said I agree with your statement how unless you are a member of one party and not another you get accused of not being patriotic...

From one mathematician to another, the Munchkin Man wants to let you know that the Munchkin Man is deeply saddened to learn that he makes you sick.

Get well soon.

Get real, you clown! You are a quasi-retarded ill founded arithmatician at best and haven't the the intellectual maturity to even guess what mathematics is.

Well, that's tough, but I already knew you were sorry.

I guess you actually believe you don't do exactly that. You are wrong again, lad. If you don't want to feel singled out, then don't attack in the first place.

Why not just keep your backward right-wing lies, insults, name calling, and hateful insinuations to yourself?

MM, you are a pure fool acting like exactly what you are. No one spoke to or of you. Like andy, you jump in where you weren't invited or included and make insulting remarks about people, then claim you are innocent when you are called on it. I suspect it isn't out of dishonesty and you actually and sincerely believe you aren't being crude. That's dumb! But that does not excuse you being a jerk.

So, since you are unable to play the part of a gentleman and you are completely ignorant of what is being said, just go somewhere and play with yourself and leave others alone.

Dunno about the 28-72% split Bdgee.. seems the other way around to me.
Most haven't a clue as to their surroundings.
For the most part, how can they?
Most of us work sixty hours a week and spend our lives apologizing to our spouses for not making enough time for them.
There just isn't enough time left in a day to educate ourselves to the deceptions that create the mess.
Another large portion just simply doesn't care to know.

i've also noted a distinct change in the avg church going folk who have come to realise that Rove manipulated the heck out of them...

of course there's always going to be a core group of evangelicals who will refuse to acknowledge how they were "played"...
they tend to be a much lesser number than 20 something percent tho..

Mr. Bdgee,

Do you know what you sound like?

You sound like a little child crying in the sand box because some other child threw sand in your face and took away your lollipop.

The Munchkin Man did not throw sand in your face or take away your lollipop.

Instead, the Munchkin Man has simply defeated you in one mathematical argument after another, time and time and time again.

No wonder you want the Munchkin Man to go someplace else and leave you alone.

How many fly the flag on days other than Flag Day... 4th of July... Memorial Day...

How many Can't get to the front of their house.
How many can get to the front of their house but can't reach to hook up the hooks to attach the flag.

How many because of their previous sacrifices can make it to the flag pole... but CAN'T raise the flag.

Cheers to the Americans that.. TODAY... choose to step forward in harms way... to make it possible to raise the flag tomorrow.

Cheers to the Americans that sacrificed... with their lives so that I would be able to write this... Today.

No, you weren't "only giving (your) opinion. You were attacking with personal insults and trash talk.......out of the blue and clearly intending to do so.

If you don't want to be pointed at and called what you are, learn not to enter with name calling and insulting accusations. AND LIES.

You are still as you always were, an unAmerican far right-wing hate monger with no more respect for the Constitution than you show to people that don't practice your own brand of the politics of hate.

By the way, not only were you not invited, you are, by your own admission, hopelessly unqualified to participate in a conversation about anything scientific or mathematical. Still you chose to worm yourself in so you could spew insults and cause trouble. As misguided and confused as MM is about mathematics, he is many miles beyond your capabilities. You need to stop the rude attacks.

"Play fair", you say? Playing fair would have been for you to mind your own business and not be a jerk by butting in and spewing insults about things beyond your grasp.

Greetings:

The Munchkin Man has a confession to make.

Sometimes the Munchkin Man gets very emotional when people are mean to the Munchkin Man and say unkind things about the Munchkin Man.

The Munchkin Man's emotional states become even worse when the Munchkin Man goes a few days without his medications.

This is exactly what happened to the Munchkin Man a few days ago.

People were being mean to the Munchkin Man and picking on him.

The Munchkin Man had gone several days without his medications.

As a result, the Munchkin Man had somewhat of an emotional breakdown.

To show you how truly fragile and sensitive the Munchkin Man can be, the Munchkin Man would like to show you some actual footage of the breakdown the Munchkin Man had a few days ago:

http://www.careerbuilder.com/monk-e-mail/Default.aspx?mid=23472942&cbRecursionCn t=8&cbsid=3542ec18dfaa4d2b8c772194da260261-245053666-RC-4

The Munchkin Man is pleased to report that the Munchkin Man is feeling much better now.

The Munchkin Man is now back on his medications and has since returned to the state of intellect that made the Munchkin Man the mathematical genius he is today.

Best Wishes,

Munchkin Man

Hmmm? So you agree that it isn't up to you to decide who can post. That's good. But you miss the point.

It isn't a question of being invited to post on a thread. Posting is the right of the individual, without invitation. The question is not whether or not you must be invited to post and join a conversation. You may. What is questioned is that using that privilege to post in order to participate in insults and name calling is out of place. The question's concern is if posting in a thread not to participate in the conversation, but to enter the thread to post insults, for name calling, for personal attacks, and to spread lies isn't inappropriate.

You are certainly not expected to have no personal opinions, but when those personal opinions are, or are so stated as to amount to, an assault on the character or rights of another to have a personal opinion, then common decorum says you have forced them into a decision of either accepting that they cannot post here or to responding in kind. It's an invitation to a so called "flame war" and an entirely inappropriate abuse of the right to post (in case you never thought about it, though no doubt you have).

When freedom of expression is misconstrued to allow oppression of another's freedom to express via personal or character attack rather than balanced and respectful disagreement, it ceases to be discussion. It becomes is an attack and an invitation to retaliate, which clearly infringes on the rights of others and leads to anything but free thinking.

Could it be time to get back to the topic?
Why not.
Patriotism means arguing against despotic leaders.
Patriotism means protecting this republic from attacks both foreign and domestic.
That domestic attacker might very well and indeed now is our own government.
This nation is NOT a government.
It is US.
You, me and everyone in between.

No, that happened because the republicans bought into the take over and zest for a permanent republican control of the government. It was their thrill at having party before Country loyalty.

(They are still of that mind, too, and whenever it is pointed out, rather than accept or admit they have demanded party first and Country later (if ever) they like to holler "Clinton!!!!", hoping to change the subject and keep them from having to admit to following the lead of some Germans from decades ago.)

Odd.. that is exactly what you do and did in this thread.. even from your first post... and as far as I'm concerned... Andrew did not name call you.. you did the name calling like you always do...

tell me where the name calling was in this post from Andrew: "Yep he is back. Name calling and all. Cant have a resonable debate without hate spewing from him. Nothing new."

As opposed to yours from the beginning: "You are just like a monkey trained to run about and wave a little red, white, and blue flag with 13 stripes and 50 stars....."

You have intelligence old man... but you are also delusional, mentally ill and kid yourself in your conspiracy laden mind... everyone is in the wrong and the name caller except you in your mind... when you do exactly what you accuse others of doing... but we all know better when it comes to you even though you think otherwise... just have to read your posts to see it... and your first post pretty much contradicted yourself...

Well, hello, your highness.

Of course, you always know more than anyone.

And, of course again, you are allowed to engage in name calling, because you are always right and because you are your highness.

And of course again, again, it is clear that you read so much better than anyone else and can read into anything whatever you want, because you know it all, your highness.

Let's revisit my original post from which Machiavelli has chosen to extract only a part and then intentionally claim it to be an attack on Andrew. It most certainly was not.

That entire post is above and there is nothing in it mentioning andrew or even possibly suggesting it is directed to or at andrew or any other individual, in spite of Machiavelli's claim that it was. Indeed the "you" of that post is is the same you we see so often being told "you know who you are". I can only assume andrew knew or thought he did and decided it was him (his decision, not mine). That wasn't my doing. Andrew takes offense and attacks me and Machiavelli reads into it his bias (he seems to have a lot of those) and wants to fight. I think it is obvious who is attacking someone and offering insult and name calling and it isn't me.

Machiavelli has repeatedly made it clear he wishes to fight. TS! That is childish. A battle of wits in a chat room cannot offer anyone but someone with a sick mind any pleasure and it certainly isn't something the rest of the folks want to have to put up with. (Anyway, I don't wish to have to tie one hand behind me to make such a battle of wits seem to be fair.)

I did not in anyway attack andrew with the first post in this thread, as Machiavelli claims, and I state bluntly that I also did not attack Machiavelli and there is no good reason for him to be attacking me, particularly since he really only wishes to be a troublemaker. I decline to play.

Machiavelli is himself engaged in a campaign of hate, though I suspect from the viewpoint of his love of New York and near religious belief that whatever is customary and habitual in New York is acceptable everywhere and only things New Yorkish are appropriate anywhere, that he thinks he isn't out of place. He is, but isn't able to understand that the propensity of New Yorkers, when they actually believe themselves to be debating, is to live by character attack and insult rather than by rational development of an argument on the merits of a subject to support their case. That is because, as is so often the case, New Yorkers are hopelessly and purely provincial and cannot recognize it.

I've known some wonderful people from New York, just as I've known some wonderful people from France and Oklahoma and a lot of places. Always they were considerate of others and other's ideas and customs and were not looking to fight with anyone.

seriously Bdgeesus... you are one f*cked up individual... I have never ran across someone with such mental disease and yet think he is normal and sane lol you are Rush Limbaugh, Michael Moore, Bill O'Reilly etc. rolled into one without having any one of their political views in particular... just your state of mind desires to be diagnosed and treated by a competent professional in the mental field.

You fight with people and call them names constantly and somehow in your messed up little mind you have convinced yourself that you do not. I did not say you attacked Andrew personally with your first post. Only that you attacked WHOMEVER from the get go with name calling and insults and yet deny it.

And my views mr. know it all is not New York in nature. I would have the same views no matter where I lived. Even if i lived in Texas. [Wink]

Seriously get some mental health help. I have no doubt you must be in some sort of therapy for your anger and mental disease though I do not expect you to admit it here in a PUBLIC and not your PRIVATE forum as you think this is. Also stop hanging out at that little bar in Texas that I hear you hang out at.Stop drinking. It's not helping your mental state. They think your a mental case as well. [Smile]

Since I am certain you believe yourself to be honest, clearly, you don't understand your previous posts.

The statement, "Yep he is back. Name calling and all. Cant have a resonable(sic) debate without hate spewing from him. Nothing new.", posted by you, is hateful and was clearly name calling and an insult and it is clear that is exacrtly what you intended it to be. Looks to me like you aren't willing (or maybe aren't able) to be reasonable or honest.

It was you that butted in where you weren't being considered or queried, not me. There was no cause for thaat vitriolic attack and hatred, other than simple crudness and ignorance.

"Do not try and judge me", you say? You did try to judge me, didn't you?. I'm sorry to report that you are hopelessly incapable of that task. You should learn some limits. You should also try to learn not to jump in insulting people out of your biased and bigoted religious interpretations of politics.

Amazing!!!

What is truely amazing is your delusions. Especially how you describe yourself to a "T" when you try to describe me.

Belief in special intellectualism, supreme "know it all", huge ego, reactionary political views, insults, hatred, anger, Dufus (so you don't name call eh? lol hypocrite), etc. etc.. all describes you though in your delusional mind everyone else is that except you. But we all see it whenever you posts.

Btw your original post is nothing more then a attack on others that have views different then yours. It was nothing more then to start a "flamewar". Something that you say everyone else does but you.

But anyways as one of the other forum members already said about you... your nothing but entertainment to us and rarely does anyone take your rantings serious or as he also called you: A AssClown....

Hello, mr. know-it-all,

What a sanctimonious egomaniac you are.

(With coordinate manners and demeanor, too.)

Your perspective on any and everything is constricted by a bigotry so modulo New York City you cannot visualize that anythng not congruently biased can even be .... and you choose to believe that it must, by necessity of that parsimonious skewing, be warped into parallel with yours.

Your discrimination is but a supremely oblivious and sophomoric joke.

THINK!

YOU ARE ADDING NOTHING IN THE WAY OF INFORMATION HERE WITH YOUR INCESSANT CAMPAIGN OF ATTACK AND INSULT. YOUR ENTRY INTO AND FURTHER EFFORTS IN THIS THREAD (as so often is the case in whatever thread) PROVIDES NOTHING FOR ANYONE NOT SIMILARLY BIASED AND HATEFUL. YOU OFFER NO INFORMATION, JUST CRUDE CALUMNY AND, ONE MUST ASSUME, SOME SORT SELF AGGRANDISEMENT (an egotistical grasping for stature like a sexual pervert imagining that masturbation grants him knowledge and standing among actual and honorable progenitors.)

Moreover, your sense of humor lies, intellectually and emotionally at about the level and discernment of a rabidly devout fan of the Mickey Mouse Club (which is well below the acumen needed to handle the subtlety and sophistication of Howdy Doody or Captain Kangaroo). As a result, you far too often completely misconstrue the target of the subject of debate and go off half cocked, hypocritically screaming, on some tangent into nowhere. (Heh heh heh ..... like you already are eagerly contorting in reaction to this post, because you choose to miss the point.)

I though we were time wasting and diverting attention from reality and responsibility.

Damn, I'm sorry, folks....and ashamed.

Hey, have you ever thought about why Roy and Gene were so fond of Trigger and Champion while mid-20th century station wagons were showing up on their ranches with good looking blondes that they never noticed at all. I remember seeing a "nightclub" show somewhere down across the border with a shanky brunette and a pony and I read one of Faulkner's tales about a idiot boy and a cow and I have to kind of wonder if Roy or Gene had some problem they didn't want kids to think or know about.

First of all I don't live in NYC so get that out of your little pea brain. NY state is far larger then NYC.

Again you describe yourself to a "T" when you describe others lol

1. Egomaniac
2. Bad manners and demeanor
3. this especially made me laugh (and not because it's funny but ironic) because everytime i read your words all i see is you describing yourself (minus the NYC reference):

" constricted by a bigotry so modulo New York City you cannot visualize that anythng not congruentlyYour perspective on any and everything is biased can even be .... and you choose to believe that it must, by necessity of that parsimonious skewing, be warped into parallel with yours."

4. Discrimination - with the constant NYC references

5. Attacker and insulter (read your first post among thousands of others over your "career" in this Forum)

6. Hater - wow, you really can't see your hatred through your words in all threads that are political?

I offer no information to this thread? Please.. what is to offer in a thread that starts off as a flamewar to Right Wingers on this forum that you hate. You offered nothing in information yourself other then have your fingers ready to type at the ones who at any given moment will contradict your views. I'm off target of debate? I agreed with your basic assessment of your original post peabrain. I merely said you sound like a lunatic on how you presented. As for the rest of the "debate" on this thread. You attacked Andrew and I merely kept on topic since you made that the new topic.

Funny, I don't see perverts as looking for knowledge when they masturbate. I would of said they were looking more for a "release" then "knowledge". But at least i know where your thoughts lie when your doing the deed. [Big Grin] I just hope you don't dress as Howdy Doody when you do so. Now that would be a sick mind. [Eek!]

Anyways your attack on my Humor makes it seem like you have humor at all. Nothing you say is funny though you seem to think so. You just rant and rave (pictures you dressed up as Howdy Doody now... [Frown] ). From now on that is how I will picture you, as Howdy Doody or various other characters because that is how I see you. As a joke. Get some mental health help, seriously so I at least think my tax dollars are doing some good to someone like you and not going to waste. No more furloughs, please. lol

Btw, out of curiosity, Do you trade in the stock market at all or just waste your time on the political forums looking for fights because you have nothing better in your life to do?

You simply cannot seem to get the message.

No one needs or wants to constantly wade through your incessant and childish hateful diatribes on [/i]The World According to His Majesty, The Know-it-all.

Enough already. You have convinced yourself and those of similar ilk (each of whom shared your position all along) and no one else was ever interested in the first place (or the second or the third, and so on - - -).

I have an idea. Somewhere in that vast wasteland of thought you dwell in (should have been in which you dwell, shouldn't it have), find a cave or treeless valley or empty building or something else that will return a sharp echo and holler those insults and omnipresent pronouncements of your vast superiority to every one else onto that instead of here. That way folks here are freed of the burdon of them and you can listen and be thrilled to hear your philosophy screamed back at you with zeel equal to your own.

In my own opinion, Smiley Burnett was a better side kick than Pat Butrum. Of course, both were faithful, though certainly not so much as Tonto

(For some entertainment, do a little checking and figure out what Kino Sabe really means!!!)

I don't need to discuss it because I had agreed with what Bgeesus views are on it from his first post. What's to discuss unless I was of the opposite view of his first post which I'm not. But he is a hyprocrite for starting the name calling and flaming then putting that blame on others like he always does.

Ok so just a recap:
Bdgee calls you a moron after one of your many moronic statements and you retaliate by stumbling through as many highschool insults as you can remember.
All the while claiming you wish this to go no further.
Do us all a favor and admit that what you really want is acceptance.
You wish to better Bdgee in these lop sided battles because you see him as better than yourself.
You veiw him as sort of a father figure.
It's just best you admit this and spare yourself the many years humiliation you are about to enter.

If we truly want to eliminate all insults on any given thread, we need to open up a separate insult forum. Pick a target and fire away. Any attacks on discussion threads could be moved there by one of the mods. Could also be used for general ribbing, good natured fun poking, or downright hateful insults. I'm all for it, hell I'll moderate it as it'll be my favorite forum. It just gets too cumbersome to search through all of these different off-topic threads for new and entertaining insults, regardless of who's posted them. Man, I'm a genius at times. I think Relentless and I could probably give it a good kick start.

It'll be a good way to isolate and then further rivalries for our entertainment.
There'd have to be ground rules as far as allowing direct and flagrant insults and name calling of all sorts... I just don't want to have to make another screen name... This being numero 6 I believe.

Please relentless. If your a Bgeesus fanboy then just say so but do not say he does not flame, name call, say moronic statements (like the first one of this thread), HS insults etc. Yet you only say me and others do it. As far as I'm concerned i called him on the fact that he throws accusations at people about name calling, lies, insults etc. when he is the one who does it most of the time. Yet you can't admit that because your a fanboy of his? [Roll Eyes] That to me is not a moronic statement that I said to him. Moronic is being a moron in the first place because you don't like someone's views like Andrew's and then calling everyone a moron for not agreeing with you or your views.

As for me wanting this to not go further? Sorry, I don't recall me saying that in this thread. Perhaps your one of the people Bgeesus means when he says about your "lies". If i wanted this to stop going further I would simply stop posting in this thread. No such thing. [Razz]

Acceptance? Please. I have a life and it's not spending it in this forum. I merely post in off topic when bored and for entertainment. If you think I want acceptance from a bunch of people I do not know personally then your a legend in your own mind. At the end of the day when i sign off the computer and this forum, you are the furthest from my mind in importance. I don't need acceptance from others because I accept myself. I don't need my ego stroked like others do.

Bgeesus as father figure? LOL I see him as a mentally ill lonely bitter conspiracy laden math professor who probably got picked on all his life and doesn't have a social personal life so he comes here to vent out his frustrations on those same right wingers who picked on him.

For me to see anyone as a father figure etc. I would have to like them and/or respect them and trust me I don't with Bgeesus. I respect others here who do not attack people for different views such as Glass, Tex, Bigfoot, Natural Resources etc. Those are the people i respect. Not people like you and Bgeesus who need to get off your high horses and think I give a sh*t about you lol

I see him as better then me? lol again please... I don't see a so called math professor with no social life who rants and raves on political boards on people who disagree with him as any better then anyone else much less better then me...

humiliation? I live a good life and that is all that matters to me... Bgeesus and his words are a pimple on this planet's azz and don't really mean anything to me for me to care or feel humiliated. This is just to pass the time for when I am on the computer and there is nothing much to do after I am done with other things like stock researching, watching Youtube etc.

So for you to say such things is moronic in itself. I never got off topic on this thread because I agreed with the original view, just didn't agree on how it was said and how it escalated from there. There is nothing for me to add to his view because I am not a Right Winger on the opposite end of his opinion/view/fact of this thread's original topic.

Anyways Life goes on when this computer signs off on any given day and this forum & it's characters doesn't exist to me when the computer is not on. [Smile]

Rice Says Iran 'Lying' About Nukes Ahead of Talks With Skeptical Putin

By MATTHEW LEE, Associated Press Writer

SHANNON, Ireland (Associated Press) -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Thursday accused Iran of "lying" about the aim of its nuclear program, saying there's no doubt Tehran wants the capability to produce nuclear weapons and has deceived the U.N.'s atomic watchdog about its intentions.

"There is an Iranian history of obfuscation and, indeed, lying to the IAEA," she said, referring to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

"There is a history of Iran not answering important questions about what is going on and there is Iran pursuing nuclear technologies that can lead to nuclear weapons-grade material," Rice told reporters aboard her plane as she headed to Moscow.

U.S. officials have long accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons behind the facade of a civil atomic energy program, charges that Tehran denies. But Rice's strong words, including the blunt reference to Iranian "lying," come at a critical time in dealing with the matter.

The United States is trying to win Russian support for new U.N. sanctions against Iran but has faced sharp resistance from Moscow, which has nuclear cooperation agreements with Tehran and argues the country should be given more time to come clean on its programs.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said this week there is no proof Tehran is trying to build the bomb. Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates are scheduled to see him in Moscow on Friday.

Washington has been pressing for more sanctions since earlier this year.

But last month, the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council _ Britain, China, France the United States and Russia _ and Germany agreed with the support of the European Union to hold off on a new sanctions resolution until November to allow negotiations with Iran to continue.

If no progress is made on two separate tracks _ talks with E.U. foreign policy chief Javier Solana on an offer of assistance in exchange for a suspension in Iran's nuclear program and discussions with IAEA on its past activities _ they are to bring the resolution to a vote.

It remains unclear, though, if Russia and China, which also opposes sanctions, will support it.

Even as work on the proposed resolution is to continue at an Oct. 17 meeting of senior diplomats in Europe, Putin said Wednesday that Russia was not convinced Iran is trying to create nuclear weapons.

His comments came after talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose government is firmly behind the U.S. sanctions drive, and appeared to deal a new blow to efforts to forge a consensus.

"We have no objective data that Iran is seeking to make atomic weapons," Putin said. "Therefore, we proceed from the assumption that Iran has no such plans."

Rice, however, stressed that Russia had signed on to the Sept. 28 agreement to consider new sanctions in November and said she did not "expect that there is any deviation from that course at this point" from the Russian side.

She also noted that Russia had in the past demonstrated its concern about Iran's program by limiting its cooperation to prevent Tehran from acquiring a full nuclear fuel cycle that could be used to produce weapons-grade material.

"That concern was seen very clearly in Russia's offer to Iran to enrich and reprocess in a joint venture and to bring back any spent fuel so that the fuel cycle wouldn't be available to Iran," she said. "I think there is a reason for that and that is suspicion about Iran's intentions."

Rice has a whale of a lot of catching up to do before her credibility is swimming on the surface.

She was one of the most outspoken proponents of Saddam being involved in 911 and invading Iraq because of Saddam's non-existent nuclear arsenal. I believe she knew it was all lies at the time. She certainly had the appropriate intelligence to know the facts, so why did she tell us falsehoods? Does she tell truths now?

I agree. And as Iran and others continue to build and fortify themselves we are left seeking UN resolutions to attempt to curtail inevitable events imop. There is so much left unsaid and unchallenged. I have my own opinions of good óle outgoing Bush and how his delays in dealing with Iraq only lead to golden opportunities Today for others to take advantage. Iran is almost running unchecked ~ well is unchecked imo ~ and now we are left swinging a mallet without the gavel.

Look it up. I ain't the first to so use it.

Yep, that buffoon Clements was a good approximation of what dubya would perfect.

And check this out. As governor he appointed Bum Bright to the A&M Board at the same time as he was sitting on the SMU Board. One of his close buddies and business partners was at that same time on slipped onto TCU Board sort of politically. I don't recall the tie, but there was also representation at Texas Tech.

Within a couple of years, those three schools all were under serious investigation by the NCAA for football and baskeball violations. (It should also be noted that, concurrently, their "group" bought the Dallas Cowboys from Murchinson and brought on the worst times for that team.) All three schools were caught red handed paying not small amounts to football players and basketball players and warned to cease, but the "group" continued to play republican party games and used the athletic programs of the schools as toys and favor for the party, which became the money source for player generosity. They were caught again and all were punished, SMU actually getting the kiss of death penalty. THAT is what actually broke the old Southwest Conference. It had been the strongest of all the football conferences since the early 60s and within five years of being used as a political favor by the "group" it was reduced to a scandal with several of its schools having hardly enough scholarships (due to NCAA penalties) to field teams that could compete at all.

What that all proves is, if you don't finish high school and by hook or crook manage to come into ownership of one of the biggest trucking companies in the world and get to be fabulously wealthy, you tharby can become a republican power broker and get to be smart enough to be the Chairman of the A&M Board and order all them thar ed-jew-katted smart-mouth liberal professors around and then get high on imported whiskey and brag about it to the "groups" in their private box at Texas Stadium.

I don't doubt *any* of that college/sports stuff. Can't say I know it's true...but sure wouldn't surprise me.

Clements *was* a nut, by any appreciable measure...Bush didn't hit *his* stride until he stole the Prez

effection ain't a word: not in my 1947 unabridged, my first etymology source, nor in Webster's online...

not saying it's not been used... but is a nonsense word, at least in parallel to affect ===> affection.

The more I think about it, though...the more I like it.

kinda like a pitcher's efficiency, or maybe a pol's delivery:

Wow! Smith's effection ratio on these deals is through the roof!

I guess, because affection is a word, and widely understood, then effection should also be a word. Might even help folks distinuish between affect and effect.

They weren't intending to be friendly, I don't think, Tex. We all gave them every chance to be, but they had predesigned a religious agenda to press and it was like they intended to be unfriendly. In a way is is too bad, because they offered a different sort of bent on religious stuff than some of the ones that come here and demand we all become Jesus freeks. I'd have been happy to have them stay and settle into the faction for their point of view. I am a big advocate of wide and robust but honest advocacy of whatever. Sadly, I suspect they started out believing they were going to show us all the error of our ways and when it became clear we were mostly going to keep on just as we each already did, they took offense, as if we had challenged them.

"Might even help folks distinuish between affect and effect."

I have to disagree, because I feel certain that almost all of the confusion is more due to laziness and simple spelling errors than it is a use of the wrong word. Lots of folks don't think they differ at all or never though about it even one time in their life, maybe hearing them the same and only believing there is one word.
