nice to throw that in there i think we are aware of that story. in any career field, and in any place humans are humans, and there are always a few bad seeds here and there wether it be a soldier, cop, factory worker, teacher, or investor. thats just the way it is

Yep, it happens all the time!

Why, just the other day at the office, five of my coworkers raped a clerk and then burned the building down. [Roll Eyes]

In this case, the bad seeds are in the Administration and the RNC.

so like, these r supposed 2 b like, forthbringers of like, peace n stuff? ( [Roll Eyes] )

scary... you cannot bring peace when there isn't good moral on the soldiers' side. It's incidents like these that breed terrorism, it's a state of mind that you can't kill with a few weapons. I'm sure there's a lot of good work done so let's not put all soldiers over the same line, but it's these incidents that really screw things up

hey GB?

i am Ex-Military too..

i

NEVER raped anybody, and i am asking you politely to move on to another subject..

the Military deals with these freaks much more harshly than civilians do...

the militaries job is to fight and kill..
it always has been...

it is that simple.. the politicians are the ones that screwed this mess up... not the troops..

I say again:

Posted by Gordon Bennett on :

Would you prefer that stories such as this be swept under the rug, glassman?

I never said, nor did I imply, that you raped anyone. I also resent your implication that I am somehow attacking the troops in general. That's just not the case.

However, military service isn't a license to murder, rape and/or torture.

So, I really don't care how politely you ask me, I won't ignore the actions of sick pigs like these.

Thank you for your support, jordanreed.

It's sad that there are so many people (like SS here) that, by attacking the messenger,
are helping to cover up and excuse the actions of criminal pigs like these.

GB...
Insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule.
Friedrich Nietzsche

the elections have been won, Bush is on the ropes..

i don't want to see the DEMS run "everything" any more than i wanted to see the GOP run everything...
that IS Democracy.
and? we now have a way to have a productive dialog in Congress...

we are IN the war NOW..

the path you are following right now? that's the same path that got troops spit on when they came back from Nam...
do not go down this path, it is just as evil as what you are fighting...
He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.
Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil, Aphorism 146

no, i'm not suggesting ANYTHING be swept under the rug..

i am suggesting that these wounds be allowed to HEAL...
that takes time..

they have not been swept under the rug..

Fort Leavenworth is FULL of scum...

just like all the prisons in So Cali and the rest of the US...

i believe that peace can be acheived thru diplomacy..

your "truths" don't promote diplomacy..

Bush sux at diplomacy..

IMO? you are in peril of becoming the flip side of his coin...

i think you are a fool to insult me after the last two years i spent working on getting the truth out about the WMDS and the underlying lies..

just leaving Iraq tomorrow isn't going to fix anything...

Posted by Gordon Bennett on :

Read my posts more carefully, glassman. I didn't insult you. However, by calling me a fool, you just insulted me.

It's also funny that you would single out SoCal. Your neck of the woods has more than its fair share of scum as well.

This war of terror is indeed becoming more like Vietnam each day and, like Vietnam, it can't be won. Like an egg dropped on the floor, Bush's Iraq debacle just can't be "fixed." Our Government's real motives were evil and, like the Vietnam War, history will not judge us to be victorious.

How many more have to die, be raped, burned, pillaged, blown up, etc. while the idiots in Washington figure this out?

The best way to help the Iraqis now is to show compassion. That we, as citizens, did not support this Iraq invasion; that we, as citizens, will not tolerate the actions of scum like these "soldiers."

We've finally taken the first step.

I hope we have the courage to go all the way.

i am not singling anyone out...
you accused me of "sweeping stuff under the rug"...
i took that as an insult...
and? i think you meant it as one..

that is not what i am suggesting..

i am suggesting tha as you watch the news? we all see that the "scum" is everywhere...

i have told you plainly that i don't care much for where i live,
but i am here; and tho not militarily? it is in service.... and i explained that to you as well..
given a choice? i would prefer to be in SoCali...
i lived there for 5 years, so i speak from my own experience...

there are atrocities committed under every context of every society every day...

i am still suggesting that there is a much more productive aproach to acheiving peace...

we disagree on the method.. not the goal...

you and i both hope that the criminals recieve justice, but i do not think that tearing open scabs promotes healing...

the terrorists are opportunists.. they don't need US to screw up to recruit, but it helps, and you are just reposting their own posters aren't you?
that is my real point to you...

Why don't we simply post this disclaimer?

WARNING:
If your country hosts our military,
voluntarily or otherwise, a percentage
of them will rape and torture your citizens.

That should get us off the hook legally.

[Roll Eyes]

Posted by glassman on :

nobody is off the hook...

how do we "extract" ourselves from this "engagement"?

Bush and Cheney chose to go.. but they didn't think beyond that?? i doubt it...

Collin Powell told them years ago that there was no way to "disengage" and i doubt they planned on it..

IMO? they really did expect to create another US territory...

the American people did NOT....

war crimes happen whenever you wage war... the American People did choose to wage war.. just not for the same reason that Bush did...

as i said? there are no excuses for it. i just think we can find a way to fix this situation without poking ourselves in the eyes with hot pokers...

Bush definitley has got to admit he screwed up at some point..

i am still waiting... after 2 1/2 years...

Posted by Gordon Bennett on :

Ten years from now, Bush will probably release a book and an interview on FOX TV.

The title of both?

G.W. Bush: If I Was Wrong, Here's How It Happened

[Big Grin]

Posted by glassman on :

do you remeber when we started the invasion? they made it into a "media event"?

what was the term?
"embedded reporters"?

that was supposed to prove that we didn't do anything "bad" ?

then Abu Ghraib? some say abu ghraib happened because Bush was lookning for WMD evidence... i agree we gave the terrorists great photo ops over that....

i do want to see congressional hearings into that too...
there's so mnay things that need fixing? it'll take years...

The mainstream media, intentionally or not, played the American public like violins by doing absolutely no investigation into Bush's "intelligence."

Just watch a couple of Ari Fleischer's press conferences from back then... Journalism? What a joke.

(Bush's intelligence. Now there's an oxymoron.)

I was 100% sure there were no WMD in Iraq from Day One.

How did I know this? Easy! The USA simply doesn't invade countries with WMD.

That lesson is a terrible one...

"Attention World! If you don't wanna be invaded by Ammurrkah, get yerself some WMD pronto!"

"The Media", as it is and as it has been since the early Carter Administration, is, primarilly, a collection of rightwinge leaches constantly searching for gossip rather than news, in order to pay its debt to the RNC for the favor of assumed "inside scoops" (and for invitations to various hoity-toity social gathering in D.C.).

What the far right is actually speaking of with its constant and insulting references to the "leftwing press" (and similar phrases) is any media effort to publish anything not origination or sanctioned by the fartherist right forces of the republican party, i.e., the American Fascist Party.

You need to grow up and stop demonizing those that tell the truth, as you don't want to see it.

Sure you have and didn't saee any insults.

You are so wrapped in your ignorance of manners you don't bother.

I notice you don't deny the insinuations, which are obviously intentional and meant to be insulting.

Just stop it all together, mention me never again, and it won't be necesary for you to "see". In other words, display some manners.

Thank you beforehand for your considerations.

Probably nothing.. nevermind..
Have a grumpy night old man.
