Don't be a Lemming??
they aren't what you think they are...

White Wilderness is an Academy award winning nature documentary produced by Disney in 1958 noted for its splendid visuals as well as its propagation of the myth of lemming suicide.

The film was directed by James Algar and narrated by Winston Hibler. It was filmed on location in Alberta, Canada over the course of three years.

White Wilderness famously contains a sequence supposedly depicting a mass lemming migration ending with the lemmings leaping to their death into the Arctic Ocean -- in fact, the entire sequence was staged. The lemmings were not even local (there are no lemmings in Alberta); the film makers arranged to buy wild-trapped lemmings from Inuit school children in Manitoba and transported them to the set. A few dozen lemmings, placed on a large, snow covered turntable and filmed from a variety of angles, became a mass migration. As a grand finale, the captive lemmings were herded over a cliff into a river (in the film, this was the "sea", and the herded lemmings were on a "suicide drive").

Generations of TV watching schoolchildren grew up on the Disney nature films, and the myth of lemming suicide persists to this day.

But it is not a myth that the Party wants us to march to the direction of their control and the death of freedom in America.

War on terror , my a$$, it's a way to herd the people to drown in the sea of secrecy and fear.

We are NOT a democracy. We are a Nation whose government is designed to be completely controlled by the Constitution, strictly limited in it's intrusions on the people's freedoms, and entirely responsible to the protection thereof.

There is NO provision of the Constitution that provides for any branch of the government or the entire government to assume powers or rights that the Constitution has not specifically granted and assigned to it or that the Constitution strictly or specifically grants to the people or denies to the government.

ANY failure of the control of governmental power by Consrtitutional limitations guarantees an eventual power concentration that assures eventual dictatorship, if not by a single person, by a single Party.

Don't believe it? Just go ask the German or Italian people or study the history of Rome or Japan or France.

Alexander conquered the known world under the assumption that his agressions were a necessary "pre-emtive" measure to protect Macedon from attack from outside forces. Prior to his "pre-emptive" forays, Alexander's local power and influence in Macedon remained in question, but the "percieved need" for the destruction of "foreign" enemies secured his throne.

It was pre-emptive war to protect the Empire from foreign agressions that placed Rome under the absolute power of Caesar and a succession of following dictators, destroying democratic freedoms of the people supposedly assured by the authority of the Senate.

One world power after another has fallen to dictatorship. None has survived long as a "democracy" after a ceding of the "peoples rights and freedoms" to governmental control.

I don't think as many people are concerned with the freedoms they have under law in this country just because a handful of people have spent years defending said freedoms for them and I am not talking about the military. Today these same people who have defended our rights are being laughed at by a large part of an ungrateful population who seem to be watching there freedooms disappear right before them and are cheering it on. The poll that was done here just recently was an eye opener for me. Nobody that was polled could name the 5 rights under the first. What a disgrace when I was young almost anybody in the 8th grade could do that.

yeah, and when people start lecturing me on how we need to "restore" our moral values? i ask them to which period they want to return? the slavery days? or the prohibition/depression era? or maybe just to 40's and 50's when lynching was a popular pastime?

Glass thoes are the negatives and the wrongs you have always to watch out for them. It really goes with out saying something as serious as slavery can never be honestly defended or justified but the people that went to war to defeat it were protecting freedom for everybody in the spirit of justice to rid the country of this terrible economic method of inhumanity. And I know that the slave owner defend themselves politcaly with states rights and freedom the point I was making was same as in the past issues almost as bad as slavery are being represented by Bush and his cohorts, and people that are trying to stop him are being laughed at all the time on the entire media. I hope that I was not misunderstood if I was please forgive any lack of communication skills on my part.
