HYDERABAD: In a word of reassurance to Indian IT companies, U.S. President George W. Bush on Friday said he firmly believed in competition and rejected "protectionism" against outsourcing of jobs.
Mr. Bush agreed that globalisation had resulted in people losing jobs. "Losing jobs from globalisation is painful. But the fundamental question is how the Government tackles it. There are two ways of doing it — take the route of protectionism or making sure that people get educated to take jobs of the 21st century." One should not forget that globalisation has also opened up opportunities.

I'm guessing that Bush must be gearing up for the protectionism route; he's already closed the doors for many who would like to get educated {cutting back student loans).

For all those that haven't seen the latest Government figures, among those "Jobs of the 21st Century" they are bragging about, the number one and number two hot new jobs being created in the U.S to replace those factory jobs they moved to China and Brazil are (1) nurses aid (you know, emptying bed pans and really sophisticated and technical things) and (2) not cooking the meat, but the demanding and precision job of assembling hamburgers.

Got any idea where I can get eh-ju-kated in them thar fine arts so's I ken get inna one o them hi payin kay-rears?

what i can't figure is why they present it as 2 choces... we gotz US plenty o'choices, but the ones that have been made are good for only a very few people...

it's not good for "industrialists" and it's not good for techno-geeks (even they are getting out-sourced...)

the wierd part? the powers that be are squeezing there OWN customer base out of existence....

our basic living type household expenditures have gone up 70% since Bush got into office...starting right at the grocery store....

the winners in this? appear to be BIG agri-business...

take a look at the red-state-bluestate map and tell me where agri-business is buying their votes... [Roll Eyes]

Thats the foley of the whole thing Glass I have said for a while on these posts. That we are destroying purchaseing power for bigger profits. Which means they are destroying the monster that eats commodites. Business in our country just does not see past the next quarter. It will be ashame when this economy finally goes onto a tail spin the jobs won't be here like they were in past times when we recover. The End

Just a break to the otherside for a minute....

We took a differant route to Portland today..What was just a few short years ago farms and Orchards is gone....
Replaced by an area 25-30 miles long of thousands of brand new Homes in the $350,000.00 to $1,000,000.00 class....

Expensive Wine Vineyards in prime Hilltop locations, poping up all over the place.

My wife commented " where do all these new people work???

My only reply, was " very good question...

Oh on the other side there is more people of wealth today than there ever was but I believe that we are getting there with a percent that is very uneven.Which in my opinion is not good and leads to trouble all one has to do is read a few things of the past to see what happens in a sociate that travels down that path.
