What truly amazes me about G.W. is how he can't seem to be able to stop himself from screwing up. After 9/11 he had the whole world in the palm of his hand and...he basically told them to get lost. After the 2004 election he had a government controlled by the GOP and...he has almost gone out of his way to alienate his own party. His agenda, lost.
He can't even get the Patriot act extended for more than six months, let alone drill for oil in ANWR. (I thought he was an oil man, this should be easy) His own religious organization (his church) has called for the end of the war in Iraq, calling it an immoral war. What happened to Soc. Sec. reform? Rewriting the tax code? etc etc...
This guy had a chance to get a lot of things done and now can't get his own party to support him. Can you say LAME DUCK. Really, will someone give him a blow job so we can impeach him already.

well said LEO, the proof is in the legislation, he's a lame duck unless he's cheeirng on the troops. and we Americans will stand behind the troops no matter what. so he gets a free pass as long as he's a good cheerleader

I have never seen an American get on the media and shove in the face of Americans that he violated there rights for there own good. Least I would ever dream of that the person that would do that would be the president of the United States. You would think that he would go down swinging protecting our rights.I am amazed at what Mr. Bush said. I really think what is happening is the start of trying to control the the American people starting with a little peice at a time. What has me amazed is that 40% of Americans think this is for there own good. Well let me tell you freedom at any price is what is good for the American people. This is our rights as citizens not something that a leader can take away and violate. And then maybe give it back to you. I am still in the recovery mode from that yet.

:D

So, "Bush says he does not live in a bubble".

Lets see now about things Bush says:

** You have to have a warrant to wiretap.

** Saddah has stockpiles of nuclear devices and some of them are already
loaded onto rockets and other devices capable of striking NY City, immediately.

** Saddam has an active progran producing poison gas and we know where it is stored all over Iraq.

** Saddam has close ties to Ben Laden and sponcers al Queada terrorist training bases in Iraq.

** "You're doing a heck of a job, Brownie."

** "I'll never allow our military to engage in "nation building"

** "I support the Constitution."

Well, just a tiny sampling, but enough to let you understand why the whole world, short of the Party line Republican gestapo doesn't
trust anything Bush says.

BUSH LIES!!!

You need to get over your terrible case of mental constipation. The Commie scare turned out to be just another blast of hot air. Worse, it was over a genertion ago for wierdo hate fanatics and two generations ago for everyone that knew a little physics.

Your idiotic remarks about giving things away are strictly out of your one sided imagination, for no one but you has suggested such a thing or anything close to that.

Get this straight, communism does not equate to socialism and socialism does not equate to anti-American. Moreover, the silly notion that capitalism is democracy is childish. Indeed, most of the communist countries became that way democratically and ALL of the strictly non-democratic countries are also absolutely capitalistic.

Your values (and your knowledge of political reality) are straight out of Dick Tracy comics, written (or drawn) to appeal to the intellectually lasiest and poorest in the population.

It's the technique of debate fostered by the Party line. Interrupt anything about to be said that is possibly not from the Party line and shout too loudly for the others to be heard so you can claim only you have provided anything. It's rude, insulting, and arrogant. It's the Party line response to everything. He has followed it to a T.

From bdgee,

"most of the communist countries became that way democratically"

Let's examine that statement by investigating the various communist nations. Information provided by Wikipedia.

Soviet Union - Revolution 1917
China - Civil War
Vietnam - Revolution against France/Civil War
North Korea - Soviet occupation after WWII
Poland - Soviet invasion and occupation after WWII
East Germany - Soviet invasion and occupation after WWII
Yugoslavia - Partisan rising to dictatorship after WWII
Bulgaria - Soviet invasion and occupation after WWII
Czechoslovakia - Soviet invasion and occupation after WWII
Hungary - Soviet invasion and occupation after WWII
Romania - Soviet invasion and occupation after WWII
Albania - Partisan rising to dictatorship after WWII
Laos - Revolution
Ethiopia - Military takeover
South Yemen - Peacefull takeover
Angola - Controlling party switched ideologies

So, not a single communist nation became that way democratically. In fact only one became communist through a means other than forced occupation or war, South Yemen

Posted by bdgee on :

Well, not going into details on the misrepresentations you have made (both the means of going communist and countries that simply are not communist), you have managed to list about 20% of the communist countries

When a people take charge of a nation and install a government, that is a democratic movement. Note that the US broke free of England and adapted it's governmment after a civil war and we insist that was a democratic movement. You might want to rethink your claim that China (and other countries) didn't go communist democratically.

Now, try listing all those purely capitalistic countries that are democratic. Very shoprt list isn't it.

Compare it to a list of those capitalistic countries that are monarchies or dictatorships.

OH! Not too short a list at all, is it.

Democracy is action BY the people and may result in societies entirely different to that of the US, with governments we do not even approve of, like Iran!

By the way, The US Government is a republic, not a democracy.

There has never been a true communist country on the face of the earth yet. There have been socialist countries that were led by communist. And that is all period. There have been communist that have led the revolution such as you mentioned but all have failed to turn there nations to communism. And they have been over thrown way before they have got to there goal. For better or worst so to speak. Just another mistake our great Mr. Bush makes. Simply put the communist become a class themselves and ruling elite. The old Soviet Union was the most perfect example of that. The communist party was the class of of ruling elite that skimed the cream for themselves. But until anybody can show me a completely classless society that has ever existed on the earth besides the most primitive of tribelisum. I will stand by what I have just said.

bgdee,

I've only listed 20% of the Communist countries. Fascinating, please list the other 64 communist nations. You might find one or two that I missed.

You won't go into the misrepresentations I made because I made none.

A Democratic movement is through the election process, not military or physical force. Try again.

I have no interest in listing purely capitalist countries that are democratic. I simply want to correct another of your blatent lies that "most of the communist countries became that way democratically".

By the way, I've known for a LONG time that the United States is a Republic. I'm not sure why you decided to mention that but for once, you are correct.

I forgot Cuba:

Cuba - Revolution

There are only five remaining. China, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and Cuba.

Posted by bdgee on :

Oh, I see, revoluion doesn't count. So, the US isn't democratic.

Ok, whatever you say.

Posted by Aragorn243 on :

bdgee,

ROTFLMAO

I believe we established the United States is a Republic.

Revolution does not count as an example of "communist countries became that way democratically".

Revolution is a way of overthrowing the previous government.

Our revolution against the English King was not a democratic process.

Upon gaining independance however, the founding fathers sat down and created a representative democracy. That is when we became a Republic.

Taking over power by force as a political entity and maintaining it as the revolutianary communists did is NOT a democratic process, nor did they later establish a democratic process. You statement remains incorrect.

I'm still waiting on those 63 other communist nations.

bdgee,

You're LYING again. I never said Allende was not a commuinst. Being a communist and being the leader of a nation does not make that nation communist.

Tex never heard of boy-bands what is it?

Posted by bdgee on :

Let me see, now. In order to discount elections that result in communist control, Aragorn243 has determined that a government formed after a forceful overthrough of a nation cannot be democratic.

OK, I'll work under that assumption for the moment......Denote that assumption, by name, as "Aragorn243's Postulate".

As with any postulate, Aragorn243's Postulate may not be violated, either directly or indirectly.

Thus,

Q.E.D. The government being organized in Iraq and resulting from the overthrow of Saddam cannot then be democratic, via Aragorn243's Postulate. Moreover, any claim to the effect that Bush has allowed the people of iraq to vote to become democratic is nonsense.

Do I even need to formally state the Theorem?

Hey, personally, I have to like that logical development. After all, I have consistantly pointed out the aburdity of calling a government that was forced on a population democratic.

Posted by Aragorn243 on :

bdgee,

You are lying again.

It really is habitual with you.

How did you ever come up with I determined that a government formed after a forcefull overthrow of a nation cannot be democratic?

It obviously has, the United States is a prime example of it.

I guess what you are trying to suggest is that after all these forcefull overthrows by communist powers of other nations, these communist powers just sat back and let the democratic process take place.

Posted by bdgee on :

Aragorn243,

You stumbled over another of your own idiotic claims. You can't have it both ways. If you insist that a government installed through election a successful overthrow of the previous government can't be democratic, you then have to accept the logical consequences of that. One of those consequences is that, via Aragorn243's Postulate, whatever government turns up next in Iraq, it is not going to be democratic.

Of course, I never though otherwise, because it is a stupid idea that you can forcefully impose democracy on a people.

bdgee,

It is obvious that you are lying. People can see all the posts, you did know that didn't you.

The only one stumbling is you as you attempt to say that I said something I clearly did not say.

Your latest attempt doesn't even make any sense. What does "If you insist that a government installed through election a successful overthrow of the previous government can't be democratic" even mean?

It is a stupid idea that you can forcefully impose democracy on a people. That's one of the few accurate things I've ever seen you post. It's also the main reason not a single communist nation became communist through a democratic process. No democratic process can occur when under duress.

Iraq has the opportunity to become democratic. They are holding free elections. What they do with that opportunity remains to be seen.

It doesn't matter if it is Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Eisenhower, Kennedy, whoever! If John Kerry had won the election back in 2004, you people would still be here bashing him right now. HAHAHAHA!!!

I don't bash them all. It's one thing to be stupid. It's another thing to be criminal. The money spent on this presidency has allowed for "Stupid and Criminal" to hold the office at the same time.

Having all the people in the David Koresh barn yard killed in the Waco situation was smart? Lying in court was smart? Falling asleep at the Reagan funeral was smart? Somalia was smart? You're funny.

I liked Bill. I can't stand Hillary. I'm in for a real dilemma come '08. I've never voted Republican in my entire life. Never made enough money to go that route. I came close to $200,000 last year though so by having to consider Republican issues as directly effecting my personal situation...........I'm not looking forward to '08 at the moment for any other reason than to finally toss Bush out on his ass. The only thing good to come from his full speed ahead screw everybody but my buddies the only place non-expendable but the ranch approach is that I think Americans both Dem and Rep alike won't consider voting his brother to the office. Which is what I feel the ol' man Sr. had in mind all along. Go down in history as a 3 president elect immediate family.

Gordon Bennett,

As a nation we all get punished for their lies, they are our representatives for better or worse like marriage.

Posted by Gordon Bennett on :

I don't recall being punished for Clinton's sexual misconduct.

Posted by IWISHIHAD on :

I guess we look at and feel things differently(punishment, reward). I feel that when a president or representative acts wrongfully, I feel some embarrassment, guilt, loss of credibility, pain as a nation and as as person of this nation. I don't lose sleep over it because it seems to be common practice. How have you concluded that one president is being punished and one rewarded? Maybe one is being punished in a different way, maybe more maybe less ,depending how they rationalize their decisions. I guess when Clinton swore to tell the whole truth he did not know what it meant.

Has any representative told the whole truth? Clinton's predicament landed him in a court of law, but I think we are getting away from what I do not understand. How was Bush rewarded? I understand how Clinton was punished, but was he punished enough, I am sure his wife made him pay and pay and pay.

Posted by bdgee on :

He's been allowed to get away with repeatedly violating the law and the constitution and the Party line republicans in congress protect him.

Bush is a lying crook.

Gordon Bennett,

I only singled Clinton out from your statement. You made a statement about Bush and Clinton and have taken one part of my post and said I singled him out from other representatives. The point is how can you justify one person's lies and the another person's lies be wrong. I don't think either one of them has been punished. I feel the only president that has really been punished for his lies was Nixon, at least in recent years. I felt that Nixon saved so many lives and help open China to the world, that was good, good and bad. I do feel that Bush's lies have cost and will cost this country much more than Clintons and other representatives lies.

This is a brother from another thread who had this to say about gay marriage..... And let me tell you, I agree with him 120%!

Same-sex marriage teaches that men and women don't need each other, that children don't need mothers and fathers, and that marriage is primarily about affirming adults' diverse intimacy needs rather than protecting children.

When the very idea that marriage is the union of husband and wife gets labeled "discrimination" by the courts, people who teach the Christian faith may be treated like bigots in the public square.

When the very idea that marriage is the union of husband and wife gets labeled "discrimination" by the courts, people who teach the Christian faith may be treated like bigots in the public square.

I answered this same post in another thread. I repeat it in this one, since you posted the same BS here.

Let's consider your points.

1)"Same-sex marriage teaches that men and women don't need each other, that children don't need mothers and fathers, and that marriage is primarily about affirming adults' diverse intimacy needs rather than protecting children."

Who said so? I don't see any basis for that claim. And I see really good reason not to abuse and insult those who don't adhere to your narrow notions of propriety by declaring them to have such beliefs!

Marriage, as legally defined, is nothiong more than a contractual agreement. You have every right to not participate an such a contract with a person of your sex, but the law does NOT permit providing its protections only to persons who are of opposite sexes. That, small minded one, violates the Constitution. If you deny to a person the protections of the law based on their sexual preferences, then you must also deny those protections to those with any other sexual preferences....even heterosexual ones. Remember, this is not a religious decision (that would be a violation of the 1st Amendment to the Constitution), it is a matter of contract law. And, Congress (and any sub-governmental entities that may exist) can make NO LAW ("no law" includes any contract laws too)respecting the establishment....

2)"When the very idea that marriage is the union of husband and wife gets labeled "discrimination" by the courts, people who teach the Christian faith may be treated like bigots in the public square.

Again, who says so"? (Other than some of your religious zealots that wish to subvert the Constitution and this nation into a religious dictatorship). Where? When?

You need to stop declaring people not in locked goose step with your religious belief to be less worthy than you. They don't deserve the insult and arrogance of your bias and your contrived falsehoods of their beliefs and intent.

Moreover, if ".....people who teach the Christian faith..." are teaching that everybody and anybody else's belief is, by definition or intent, an attack on "Christianism", THAT is blatent bogotry and "...people who teach the Christian faith..." have earned the right (and privilege) to be "...treated like bigots in the public square."

Pooooooor dweeb........you do have problems being rational, don't we?

Settle down, Bozo.

You're at it again....declaring anyone that isn't following exactly what your religious bigotry dictates to be un-American.

THIS IS NOT A NATION FOUNDED ON CHRISTIANITY! Get over it.

DWE,

This statement seems to be a little far out. Do you feel that all children are affected in a major way by the law or just children within this marriage? The marriage part just makes it legal. In a some of these cases the children were already involved, and the marriage part really makes no differance in the outcome of the children.

Law is a different issue but what is being discussed is innocent children being exposed to perverse gay acts in public. When you see a man & and woman kissing in the streets, your young kid asks you, "mommy or daddy, what are they doing", you would answer something like, "when a man and a woman are in love, they kiss". Would you want your kid to see two men making out in front of him or her and have him or her ask you why are 2 men kissing each other? Would you tell your children that what the 2 men are doing is right? I would tell my child that what these 2 men are doing is wrong and bad and are acts of Satan that goes against what God intended human beings were created for. I would further tell them, they're known as homosexuals and educate my child that men and women were brought into this world by our Father to reproduce offspring over and over again. The goal of a modern day homosexual will promote homosexuality to young children, poison their minds, train children to be gay at an early stage, attempt to make the world populated with full of queers that would eventually creat world self destruction.

Fighting against homosexuals and their so called "rights" is just the same as fighting terrorism. Both homosexuality and terrorism can and will destroy this great nation, if Americans don't step up to these 2 life destructing obstacles and fight back with everything that they have within ourselves and with the Power of Jesus Christ, we shall prevail!

Homosexuality is terrorism! Yes, I said it..... So bring it!

Studies have shown that homophobic bigots who rant the loudest are those who are themselves harboring feelings of homosexuality -- and doing their best to deny it.

i think its a travesty that the gay issue is so politically important...

our nation is facing serious threats to it's existence due to OUTSIDE influences and our elections are being decided on STUPID social issues...

as population densities increase? same-sex orientation will become more and more prevalent... it's a biological fact...live with it..
the alternative is not pretty, ever seen population density studies of ANY organism?

the issue will only grow since the same anti-gay fanatics also seem bent on having the world human population rise to 1 per sguare foot of arable land... just another impending crisis being ignored by idiots...

lol, man--my ex is homosexual. Considers herself married to her girlfriend...Do I "like that"? Nah...I don't think the word "marriage" is slang...that is, it should mean opposite genders... I don't wanna go to a party and tell someone I'm about to get married, and hear, "Oh, how nice--to a woman or a man?" [Roll Eyes]

I like the word "queer," as used by Robert Frost. I like "gay" as in "Now we don our gay apparel....."

On the other hand, I guess it doesn't bother me too much--all afternoon, my ex's partner's young son has been over here watching football and playing video games in my son's room...maybe he's my ex-stepson-in-law [Big Grin]

What do I care about? He came over to me, all proud that he made 100 on his science test...

btw, you're spot-on re population density--there's a famous "over-crowded cages" study that is sheer horror...

DWE,

I've met many "born again Christian Bible thumping Satan hating" types like you. They try to tell me that Harry Potter is demonic. They try to tell me that "the mark of the beast" is real and will be the downfall to the world. They watch those shock-and-awe television evangelists.

And do you know what their business model is? "If we're kind to our customers, they'll be kind back to us with loyalty and continued business." Well, do you know what happened? The brother who owned half the business bought the other brother out (who advocated that type of business)...

Yes, I can see that BUSH might get "a kick out of watching his show too." He's a lot like you, immature and ignorant on almost all topics not involving tv sitcoms and teen flicks. But he may best you in knowing about popping pills and blowin weed....I don't know if you do those. He's got a ways to go before he can match your lack of wit and your hatefulness, though.

Dweeb, you are entirely unique.....thank God for little favors.

Who "we" are: Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Liberals, Conservatives, and Greens. We are Americans, and we hate Bush. Why? Read on:

Bush and his oligarchic companions sabotaged American democracy so they could pillage taxpayer resources.

Bush and his cabal of henchmen lied to the American people about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, and they continue to obfuscate the truth while their companies cash in, Iraqis suffer and American soldiers die.

Bush is bad for business and the economy. He is only interested in enriching himself and his friends.

Bush is bad for the future. He is compromising the prosperity of tomorrow's America by shortchanging today's children.

Bush is bad for the environment.

The Bush Administration has manipulated the media to the point of undermining the Constitutional guarantees of a Free Press.

Bush has tried to undermine the United Nations, a democratic institution created in large measure by Presidents Eisenhower and Truman. Without even understanding what the UN does, Bush has called it "irrelevant" when it fails to fall in line with his dictates.

Bush is inarticulate and projects a stereotype abroad of Americans being ignorant and myopic.

Bush torpedoes global agreements on everything from racism and global warming to biological weapons and land mines, and then expects the world to line up behind him.

Bush took positive patriotism and global support in the wake of 9/11 and forced it behind his own narrow self-interest in Iraq. He hijacked 9/11 for his own benefit.

Bush stands against everything America stands for.

Another 1020 days, 7 hours, 0 minutes, and 31 seconds left until America can extricate itself from this Hell. Will we survive?

I served Lyndon Johnson and the people that served with me were not hippies and even if you do not like hippies they have a right to be what they are,and thats why I am proud to be an American because here you can be what you want to here most people don't hate for no reason, and here most of us want to keep our faith out of civil law of the land so we can be free to practice the faith that we want. I have political opions but I put no faith in a man like Bush that every day he tramples on our rights and throws it in our face with a dare. That he took real Americans and slanderd there records so as to take attention of his own disgraceful record. And if people call him a nazi it is because he is using a lot of Hitlers political methods of slander on other peoples. Mr. Johonsoan had a good brain Bush does not,Mr. Johnson fought most of his political life to make things a fair playing field,Mr. Bush does not. IMHO Mr. Johnson was a real leader, Mr. Bush divides us and likes it and he will go down in history as one of the Nations worst Presidents ever
