I'm sick of waiting 3 days after I sold a stock to use my funds to trade again. Is there a way around this with a margin account? And if so how does it work?

Then, if you go ahead? Get the margin account--to get around waiting--just don't ever use the margin "money."
What I do is have different cash accounts, which is handy for several reasons.
