This is my first year of trading. I just viewed my 1099 from e-trade and it has all the stocks and the prices I sold them for but it does not indicate how much of a loss I took this year. With the information given there is no way to tell unless I am missing something. I want to be able to report my losses for obvious reasons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

give it to the accountant and let him/her deal with it.. if not you'll have to print out each individual trade through your brokerage's website to give to the accountant..

Does E-trade have GainsKeeper. I have scottrade and you can view the 1099 and GainsKeeper right online and print them out. The GainsKeeper will tell you how much you made or lost everday.
