Can you trade pinksheets in the premarket? My broker is Scottrade so specifically can it be done with them? What are the hours for pinksheet premarket trading (inlclude time zone!)? Thanks

no.

the confusion is that some brokers allow you place an order "after hours" but you're basically getting in the queue for regular trading executions...

How then can pink sheets gap up/down if it cannot be done before or after trading?

MMs control pricing...the "title" is literal: Market Maker...they "make" the market

ya, and for sure do *not* place a market order...you probably know that, but just saying...

still, you can set a target you're comfortable with, and "shoot" for it...personally, I would not, on pinks. Maybe later when the new tiered system has been in place a while...

Folks you can trade any stock as long as there is a buyer or a seller pre market. If you are buying there needs to be a seller on the ECN's pre market after 8am. And visa versa. Most times it cost more because the ECN's take a cut.

You need to have a broker that will take the order is all.

OK, thanks for the clarification, Bob. How common is it that buyers and sellers "match up" in those 30 minutes?

They say that choicetrade allows you to trade pre/after market. Not sure about it since I don't use choicetrade but I find that interesting. I think they do charge a premium but its only $1.00 or so per trade ($1.00 is a guess....don't really remember).

So you basically have to sit there and watch for a seller so you have a buying oppertunity, sounds like a very boring thing. Also if you dont have level 2 quotes how do you know that there are shares to be bought (or that someone sold some)?

sorry, A, I don't know--obviously. I remember deciding at one point that I *could* trade 30 minutes before and after. Then later I decided that was not "real time."

My trading, I prefer real time, which is what I *think* you're saying...
