Hi all, I'm completely new to all this and have been doing a little reading on these forums. Id like to start investing a little bit. I dont have alot of money as it is already tied up in other things like domain names etc. Choice trader has a minimum of $500.00 or is it $25,000?

So my question is, what would I need to do to get started? Is there anyway to go around these brokers to avoid fees? They seem to add up pretty quickly from what ive read here and elsewhere.

What I'd like to do is just find a decent stock or two and throw a couple hundred at each and watch me win or lose. dont have the time to sit around watching my computer all day.

Thanks for any tips,
Rob.........

capital: literally money, but funds you won't miss--can't "play" with any amount you might need. Once trading, you must consider it a "tool" that you use to pry profit from trading.

papertrade: learn enough to trade "on paper" without actually risking funds; follow some picks and as if you bought at a certain price, then see how you would have done.

if you "throw" money at them, you may as well roll down the freeway and throw money at the window...same effect: it'll be gone

read books and do your trading at night after market hours... you can swing and position trade... there more suitable for people who do not have the time to be in front of the computer all day all the time..
