I just got into the stock market since I finally have some money I can fool around with. I registered on etrade and am having trouble buying some stocks. It gives me this error message:
Non-equity, bulletin board, OTC, pink sheet and other specific securities are not eligible for the price type you have specified.
I just put in $1k just to see how this works out for me. How do I buy those smaller prices stocks?

lol, STOP what you're doing; don't BUY anything else till you get at least the basics down...
"limit order" specifies your price; "market order" allows quick fill but Gawd knows what price...
seriously, please read and study more, then papertrade a while--capital is a tool: you wouldn't leave your tools out in the street, would you? Same thing, here: trading real funds without preparation is tantamount to standing on the corner and giving it away...

you know, Mach, that's a subtly acute analogy...more accurate than mine about capital re the whole process, and one that may be the first "awakening." Gotta have da MMs for da game, but ya can't bet against em and expect to win very often...

Poker is my favorite analogy and not just because i trade and also play poker as well lol ... just that it's a gambling game.. both are.. but both also require skill, psychology as well as a little luck... to put the odds in your favor... though not always 100% ...

All that and when you open a new account you aren't allowed to trade pinks or otcbbs for 7 business days.
