Well i can't vouch for Ameritrade because i dont have a account with them. but ive heard good things about them.. though $10 per trade to me is a little to high unless im making large enough profits to cover the commission.. but as for brokers .. my recommendation is www.choicetrade.com ...no minimum to open a account.. $5 commission for both market and limit trades..stop/losses (but only for stocks $1 and over) ... trailing stop/losses for stocks $5 and over... given 3 1/2 stars by Barron's.. so thats a high compliment.. anyways check it out and make your own decision... there offering 10 free trades now i believe but only for accounts that are $5,000 (yeah i know other brokerages offer 25 trades or so but hey still not bad to try them out for free with 10 trades) ....

oh i forgot since you said your only a beginner you should really educate yourself about trading before you even open a account.. 2 book recommendations are below...

1) For swing/position trading (buying, holding and selling stocks between 2 to 5 days or about to 4 weeks) get : A Beginner's Guide to Short-Term Trading by toni turner.. www.toniturner.com

2)for Daytrading (buying/holding and selling stocks a matter of minutes or hours) get : How to Get started in Electronic Daytrading by David S. Nassar (can be bought on this site i believe as well as amazon or other book sites.. David also has his own site.. i believe its www.marketwise.com ) ....

I have Ameritrade and have had NO trouble.
$10.99 IN & OUT.
If you are new CMKX is the absolute riskiest thing you can buy, however, if you are going to do it do it quick.

if you mean CMKX (CMKM Diamonds Inc.).. yes you can buy it with choicetrade.com .. but i wouldnt touch that stock even if u paid me a billion dollars lol .. i dont know who here follows candlestick charting... but this stock has had alot of Doji patterns in the past few days/weeks... its RSI and OBV are both in downtrends... the stock itself is in a downtrend.. about the only positive thing about this stock is its trading above its Moving Averages of 20,40,& 60 ..... like VNGN said.. and by my own technical analysis.. this is a highly risky stock...one important bit of advice i can give you is not to buy on tips.. take Stock Tips into consideration but research the stock with either technical analysis or fundamental analysis or a combination of both before you decide to buy that Stock Tip... you'll lose most of the time if you buy strictly on tips with no Analysis of your own... <shrugs> on that note.. some of my own stock tips that you can do research analysis on are PWRI, DNTK & BIBO .. i dont hold either of these stocks yet but im keeping a eye on them with my own TA ...
