Herman Badillo rose from Bronx Borough President to become a member of the United States Congress and established the first Urban Affairs Sub-committee in the history of Congress for the Committee on Banking, Finance & Urban Affairs.
After serving in Congress, Herman Badillo was appointed Deputy Mayor of New York City and, continued as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the N.Y. State Mortgage Agency. He became, Special Counsel for the Fiscal Oversight of Education for Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and later Member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the City University of New York. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Asta Funding Inc., a public company listed on the NASDAQ.
