Pop Starz, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PSRZ) announced today that it is broadening its scope of entertainment activities to include the production of small-budget movies and high-level music for both films and recording artists. Iconic film producer Maurice Smith has agreed to accept the position of CEO of the newly named Global Entertainment Acquisition Corporation, and the primary focus of the company will be creating and producing small-budget films with distribution agreements and secondary marketing agreements pre-negotiated. Michelle Tucker has resigned, leaving the management in control of new owners while the balance of the Pop Starz involvements is evaluated. Interim CEO, Melissa Rice, stated, "We are very excited having a name like Maurice Smith associated with our company and look forward to shooting our first film this summer. He is a proven film maker, his movies appeal to a wide audience, and they make money."
Maurice Smith's movies have been seen by a worldwide audience of hundreds of millions of people over his 30-year career. His movies include the smash hit "Screwballs," including 3 "Screwball" sequels in the franchise, "Recruits 1 and 2," "Alien Predator," "Totally Blonde," just to name a few.
The company also announced the hiring of veteran multi-platinum talent, Del, to head up its music division. Del, a 5-time platinum- and gold-recording artist and producer, provides platinum level production for a variety of music platforms, including songs for artists, movie theme songs, and scoring for all levels of motion pictures. The Global Music division currently owns over 1000 titles, including songs for artists in genres such as country, pop, R and B, Hip Hop and Rock, as well as stockmusic for commercials and underscores for short form.
