U.S. Microbics Forms Bio-Energy Business Unit

Jan 24, 2007 10:00:06 (ET)

CARLSBAD, Calif., Jan 24, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- U.S. Microbics (BUGS, Trade ) announced that it has formed a new business unit to research and apply its proprietary microbial blends for use in the production processes of bio-diesel and ethanol from organic material sources such as corn and sugar cane for fuel applications. The company believes its microbial products could be suitable for optimizing the production of bio-diesel and ethanol by contributing to the process of turning certain waste streams and/or organic materials into useable bio-energy derived fuel sources.

Robert Brehm, CEO of U.S. Microbics, commented, "We have had many inquiries regarding the applicability of our proprietary products and processes for use in ethanol and bio-diesel production. In addition, our agricultural growth enhancement products have shown up to 38% yield increase for sugar cane, a prime feedstock, along with corn, for ethanol production. With feedstock yield improvements and organic material source processing using microbial based technology, we may have a golden opportunity to participate in the bio-fuels industry, where the reduction in green house gases is a major goal."

Brehm continued, "At this time, we are establishing a new business unit to investigate the market opportunities, applicability of our products and the economic metrics for production in Mexico, which has good political and economic support for creating additional jobs and has ample corn and sugar cane feed stocks for bio-fuels. To help with our market and technical evaluation, we will be working with a current customer who has successfully used our in-house produced microbial products in an ethanol pilot plant in the Midwestern U.S. To keep the market abreast of our developments, we will inform our shareholders via future press releases or new product or service announcements."

U.S. Microbics Signs Joint Teaming Agreement

Feb 14, 2007 10:00:29 (ET)

CARLSBAD, Calif., Feb 14, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- U.S. Microbics (BUGS, Trade ), announced that it has signed a teaming agreement with Everstech, LLC for the purpose of executing joint project activities in process engineering, bio-treatment of waste product from agricultural and animal feeding/waste operation and bio-energy product production on a worldwide basis.

Dennis Evers, PhD., President of Everstech, comments, "We have been using U.S. Microbics microbial blends over the past several years in a variety of applications turning waste streams into revenue sources and creating a very cost efficient ethanol production pilot plant. Our goal is to reuse and recycle the waste streams from these industrial processes to generate new revenue sources or cut the cost of production by utilizing bio-energy from the waste streams. Our proprietary process technology and U.S. Microbics microbial blends are particularly effective and we would like to collectively utilize our joint expertise on a global basis including environmentally proactive countries like Mexico and Brazil."

Robert Brehm, CEO of U.S. Microbics, commented, "We are delighted to collaborate with Dennis Evers as we build new market opportunities based upon his proprietary processes and our microbial products and applied environmental engineering expertise. His experience with the ethanol production process in America's Heartland brings new revenue potential for BUGS as we jointly evaluate the position we want to pursue in the global bio-fuels market. Although we have good political support, available land for feedstock growth and plentiful labor in Mexico we will be looking at all opportunities to use our joint products and services for new and existing bio-fuel operations."

SSWM Mexico Subsidiary Pursues Direct Financing Options for Expansion

Mar 14, 2007 10:00:21 (ET)

CARLSBAD, Calif., Mar 14, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sub-Surface Waste Management of Delaware, Inc. (SSWM, Trade ) announced that its Mexico subsidiary company Environmental Tec International, S.A. de C.V. (ETI) has signed a financing agreement with Perla Capital Group (see http://www.perlacapitalgroup.com ) to act as the company's exclusive Financial Advisor in connection with a best efforts convertible debt and/or equity financing up to $7,000,000 for sales growth and related working capital for environmental cleanup and infrastructure projects in Mexico, and Central and South America.

Bruce Beattie, CEO, commented, "Our strategic plan for business south of the border is maturing as we recognize additional environmental service opportunities in both the governmental and commercial sectors. Our initial foray into Mexico project work was a very successful $1.5MM job for an American manufacturer operating a maqiladora with underground contamination. This project successfully demonstrated our ability to meet cleanup requirements promulgated under the new environmental laws of Mexico and gave us a very good reputation with governmental officials searching for cost effective environmental solutions."

Beattie continued, "Our next step was to contract directly with governmental entities including the State of Puebla and also with the electric utility for federal work. Contracted government business is now over $10MM and our contract procurement business model is working well in the Public sector through strategic teaming with the Autonomous Universities system in Mexico to facilitate technology transfer and job creation."

Beattie further said, "Following on our successful efforts in the government sector, we are now pursuing contracts with commercial sector clients representing a much larger base of work opportunity as Mexico continues to refine and adopt US environmental regulations to toxics as part of compliance with the NAFTA Treaty. These commercial projects require a different financial strategy and our Financial Advisor is helping us identify global investor candidates and advising with the structure, terms and negotiation of the financing as a direct investment into ETI for future growth in both commercial and governmental accounts in a larger geographical region."

The BUGS' solution delivery philosophy is to use U.S. based project managers in collaboration with in-country local labor and technical resources to treat the source of contamination problems quickly and cost effectively while creating new job opportunities and improving the environment for local residents.

Robert Brehm, CEO of U.S. Microbics, commented, "With the ramp-up of our environmental business with various state and federal governmental entities in Mexico and our pending new financing for additional projects in Mexico, Central and South America, it is time to revisit our strategic plan for growth by acquisition in the U.S. BUGS has hired two consulting firms to identify acquisition candidates, perform due diligence and provide acquisition financing and integration into the BUGS family of environmental companies. The candidate companies targeted will have complimentary technology for existing or pending BUGS projects or provide new markets for existing BUGS technology and will have substantial upside potential with added financing and management direction."

Brehm continued, "The consultants have already presented several candidates which are currently in the due diligence process. We are reviewing an environmental transportation company with approximately $10MM in revenues, a material recycling company with $5MM in revenues and a bio-diesel startup company seeking a West Coast presence. Our goal is to acquire $5MM to $20MM in U.S. based revenue to balance the expected near term revenue foreseen in Latin America over the next 12-24 months. We would like to be able to complete at least one acquisition before the end of our fiscal year in September and our acquisition team is working hard to accomplish this task."

Mexico Military Asks SSWM for Emergency Response Guidance

Mar 21, 2007 09:45:04 (ET)

CARLSBAD, Calif., Mar 21, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sub-Surface Waste Management of Delaware, Inc. (SSWM, Trade ) announced that its Mexico subsidiary company, Environmental Tec International, S.A. de C.V. (ETI), has been invited by Mexico's Defense Department to present a proposal for staff training, equipment selection and engineering services for environmental emergency response operations involving military personnel during natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and inclement weather when toxic contamination of air, soil and groundwater can pose a threat to human life. The company plans to present the proposal within the next month for the multi-year consulting project.

Bruce Beattie, CEO of SSWM, stated, "Last year we attended the Rains and Hurricanes Civil Protection Conference hosted by the Governor of Veracruz and we had meetings with the Departments of Civil Protection for the States of San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, Puebla, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas, Yucatan and Quintana Roo regarding the establishment of emergency response centers to address and contain the sudden release of toxics that occur during storm events, and how hurricane affected states could benefit from similar facilities designed, built and operated by ETI and local labor resources."

Bruce Beattie, CEO of SSWM, stated, "While the states are in the process of developing plans for their own response centers, the military is often called out to be the first responders for emergency environmental situations. We have been asked to provide a consulting proposal for training, equipment and engineering support services so the military can be prepared for environmental emergencies. We are very excited to demonstrate our rapid cleanup technology and proactive response center plan for near term implementation in 2007 prior to the next hurricane season."

Pemex Oil Requests SSWM Rapid Cleanup Technology ASAP

Mar 28, 2007 09:45:04 (ET)

CARLSBAD, Calif., Mar 28, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sub-Surface Waste Management of Delaware, Inc. (SSWM, Trade ), announced that its Mexico subsidiary company, Environmental Tec International, S.A. de C.V. (ETI), recently completed its presentation to top Pemex Oil company officials who directed ETI to immediately schedule site visits and submit cost proposals to demonstrate the patented Bio-Raptor(TM) environmental cleanup technology at one or more oil drilling/pipeline sites in southeast Mexico as a prelude to its possible use throughout Pemex production and pipeline facilities in Mexico.

The Bio-Raptor(TM) patented technology is registered as an approved cleanup technology in Mexico with SEMARNAT, a Federal regulatory agency, and has been used previously on a $1.5MM project in Torreon. The ex situ, above-ground, technology treats up to 500 cubic yards/hour of soil contaminated with hydrocarbons such as oil and diesel found at drilling sites and pipeline spills.

Pemex, the Mexico Federal oil company, has experienced many pipeline spills after 15 years of reduced maintenance of Pemex facilities and pipelines, some of which are 40 years old, because high taxes don't allow the company to keep enough of its own profit for investment. The company recently spent $1.5 billion to maintain oil pipelines and has shut down or reduced the use of 7 pipelines considered to be at risk in the southern states of Tabasco and Veracruz. Mexico City-based Pemex plans to double annual spending on maintenance to $3 billion for the next three years using approved cleanup technology like the Bio-Raptor(TM).

Bruce Beattie, CEO of SSWM stated, "We are very excited to demonstrate our rapid cleanup technology to Pemex and are actively working with them to select one or more appropriate sites of concern. Their commitment to invest significantly in the remediation of existing facilities means we have many projects to choose from and a large backlog of potential future work. The Bio-Raptor(TM) technology has shown to be very successful in our Torreon project and is especially well suited for Pemex cleanup projects. Upon subsequent award of potential contracts to clean-up sites in the Mexican "oil patch", ETI will have succeeded in securing work with both energy companies owned by the Federal government of Mexico."

SSWM CEO Updates Market on New U.S. Activities

Apr 4, 2007 09:45:30 (ET)

CARLSBAD, Calif., Apr 04, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sub-Surface Waste Management of Delaware, Inc. (SSWM, Trade ), announced that it is pursuing niche environmental market opportunities in the US for its biotechnology applications patterned after its success in global markets including European Union and Mexico over the past 5 years. The company's engineering experience and patented technologies for contamination cleanup may be directly applicable to bio-energy applications aimed at reducing green house gases related to global warming.

Bruce Beattie, CEO commented, "Our strategic plan looking forward in the U.S. is to use our parent company, U.S. Microbics, Inc. (OCTBB:BUGS), biotechnology rich inventory of product applications to carve a profitable strategic position in the rapidly emerging markets of waste to energy, organic waste processing into re-useable and revenue generating commodity products, and manufacturing material recycling. This plan also incorporates securing sustainable revenue streams from 'air credits' sold as offsets to agricultural and industrial generators seeking to become 'carbon neutral' in their greenhouse gas emissions. An example is to remove greenhouse gases associated with manure waste decomposition found at dairies and feedlots via a bio-reactor to produce 'green energy' sources for electric or gas powered generation and subsequent sale of Renewable Energy Credits (REC) through established exchanges."

Beattie continued, "As we look to remake our market presence in the U.S., we are also reviewing complementary technology and/or U.S. business acquisition candidates with applicable technology or foreign market customers for our subsidiary company in Mexico, Environmental Tec International, S.A. de C.V. through the previously announced engagement of Perla Capital Group of Irvine, CA for supporting capital formation needs."
