Basically, I am right where that arrow points. My house is still being battered and I have trees falling around me. I don't find that card funny.

Just take care.
Thanks sunny! I'm not as down as my post reads. I didn't realize it sounded so gloomy when I posted it. This is just so nerve-rattling. Thanks for the pick-me-up though!
Here's a little tidbit I found in a news story that certainly explains everyone's edginess: "Until this weekend, no state had suffered a four-hurricane pounding in one season since Texas in 1886. And the hurricane season still has two months to go."
P.S. to 1Big: I'm sure I'll find that card funny once this is all a memory!

Here's our new slogan.....Instead of the Sunshine State......we are now......
The PLYWOOD STATE ! (and in a state of Panic)!
HELP!!! 1BigTip - I have that same postcard - and also have a modification of it for this slogan that shows the state covered with plywood. I copied it and pasted it here - but it doesn't show up. How do you do it? Thanks.

Trust me - It wasn't intended to piss people off. It's not your fault hurricanes are popular in FL in 2004. Thats mother nature and we can't do anything about it.
I hope they are all getting the funds and help they need and that no one you know was seriously injured.
I'm not looking forward to seeing the rain from it here in CT a low lying beach area where it gets flooded in 10 minutes of rain.

The irony here in Central Texas is that we could really use some rain. The trees and grass are looking really sad right now...I've grown weary of constantly worrying about my beautiful flowers and the crunchy lawn...The trees actually started losing their leaves early because of the lack of rain...Just another one of Mother Nature's quirks. Go figure.
1BigTip, where in CT are you? just curious. i'm born & bred in CT. visit the area often. ~BB

Thanks for the info. Problem is - those postcards were send to me by friends in the body of email. I could copy/paste and send to other friends. But I don't have a url for them......
HAve you seen the Plywood one?
All kidding aside.......We had 6 die down here. Two a couple of mile from me because they skidded or hydroplaned off the Sawgrass Expressway into a canal. A passing State Trooper saw the tire tracks and ripped down fence - but it was too dangerous (about 5pm) to send in any divers - so they didn't pull them out til yesterday.
One guy in Miami was out walking at 5am yesterday and picked up a 'hot' 420v power line. I mean - come onnnnnnnnn. They tel you to stay inside - and 10,000,000 times during their 24 hour a day broadcasts ALL the TV and Radio stations tell you not to go NEAR a downed powerline. And if one falls on your car.....just sit there and wait til help comes. It's too bad for the guy - but sooooo dumb and unnecessary.

Anyway - Best of luck pharm.
Hey 1Big. Believe me, I didn't think for one minute that you were doing anything maliciously. I've seen you on here for too long, so I know better than that.
And today, since I have cosmetic damage only, I think it's amusing. However, I reserve the right to change my mind if tropical storm Lisa decides to visit!
P.S. to Love the Market: The guy in Miami is just proof of Darwin's theory at work. Unfortunately, he probably has a family that has to suffer over it. There is NO WAY that he didn't hear or see warnings about going outside right after or about picking up power lines.

Pharm - I took the shutters off my kitchen window yesterday because it's 12 feet wide and overlooks my pool, patio and backyard. But the rest are staying on til New Years!
If anyone wants to see some pretty good coverage of: 1)Hurricane as it was hitting us 2) the aftermath and damage
