dso the MM's really have THAT big of an impact on trading? Remember, for every trade there is a buyer AND seller, so that means an investor is willing to sell or buy from mm's.

Tim, For every buyer there is a seller but what if the buyer and the seller is the MM painting a false picture to manipulate the price down? Sure there are buyers for every sale but what if the buys are for non existing shares? That is naked shorting and of course it totally hurts the price. If I and other legitimate shareholders think our shares are worth one dollar and the MM decides he wants a lower price he invents shares to sell at .90, and there are buyers, and he brings it down to .50 and there are buyers (he is the seller) and then down to .25 and voila there are lots of panic sellers now tripping over themselves to unload the dog they thought was worth a dollar. I am looking forward to April 1 and hope that dishonest MM's get a fraction of the misery they cause back. That would be plenty. -Debi

At the risk of getting hit with that baseball bat MM's do serve a purpose I agree that they should not be able to naked short but the do keep the market liquid, I can't think of a wore thing than to have shares that I want to sell for a profit and no buyers. I also believe that they will find another way around the naked shorting rule and we will still be subject to the game.

Actually in this age of computer technology -we probably can live without Market manipulation. Only thing holding this back is the brokerage companies who would be left with no power to control and abuse investors.

Don't expect too much of this NASD planned April Fool's joke.
It is a political ploy, a publicity stunt, a toothless rule which places enforcement in the hands of the very crooks who are abusing markets and families, worldwide.
Should you build your hopes up for change too high, you will take a hard fall.

Should you want real change, this will require collective power, will require writing thousands of letters to just the right people, as I have done.
However, I am one person writing thousands of letters, and am easy to ignore,
"She is only one. She has no power."
Thousands of letters and no doubt I am dismissed as a humorous annoyance.
If five-hundred participants here, each write a letter to every known Market Maker expressing opinions with power, changes would begin to take effect, but slowly.
Consider receiving five hundred letters, each with a final closing sentence,
"As a community, we have the power to do to you, what is being done to Knight."
