Tim, this happens at all sites. Some are
worse, some are acceptable. I will concede
a few who moved elsewhere were a tad bit
sensitive, perhaps a lingering Raging Bull
effect on their thinking.
Accusing others of bashing, tossing out
personal level insults, really has nothing
to do with any one site. This behavior is
both personal and communal. It is directly
related to human psychology and degree of
self-confidence.
We read this behavior everywhere. People
who are vested in a stock and want that
stock to increase in value, do not want
to read contrasting opinions, do not want
to read negative hints; ostrich syndrome.
Their reaction is purely emotional, mostly
fear which manifests as anger. Emotions are
never logical thus illogical responses.
Most major factor in this is a classic
"mob mentality" effect. People feed on
each other and quickly the torches and
hanging noose appear because the "mob"
justifies this behavior, as a collective;
none feel personal responsibility for
their individual actions.
Those who exhibit this behavior are those
you should _never_ trust for advice nor
opinion on stock investment; it is clear
they are not rational logical thinkers.
Mach 1, not much difference between this
site and Danicing With Bulls. I have some
personal opinions but those opinions do
not speak for all.
There is no reason, Mach 1, why people
cannot participate at both sites. This
is not a popularity contest, this is
strictly business, strictly a matter
of making, or losing money. When people
cannot keep business and pleasure sorted,
they will suffer loss of money.
I have noted some who moved elsewhere
do periodically return here to react
to my articles, with assumed monikers.
Cabbage, those who moved elsewhere did so
of free will and for reasons other than
disagreement with policy here. A factor
in this "was" a high import of people
who participate, or did, at Raging Bull.
They made a mistake of assuming Raging
Bull is indicative of all message boards.
Some of the Raging Bull people have elected
to stay and, I have noted, they are more
polite and tolerant of others.
Doesn't matter where you participate.
It matters how you participate.
