What do these new composite ties cost? I know amtrak is in the process of installnig cement ties which last over 2 times longer than wood ties, and the cost is not much more. The new ties, combined with welded joints are allowing them to increase speeds on some portions of track. I have noticed this as it now takes under 2 hours for me to take a train from 35 mi north of NYC to albany in under 2hrs.

The stock simble is pmxx. the ties were tested at the usa.Rail road test facility wnder several load test one was the break point was 5 times stronger than wood under a direct hidrolic break I dont rember the exact psi.but it was so high they stoped the test when it passed the cocrete and wood. mekt was side to side spike tention which beet both wood and concrete and last was the heat and simulated rain,uv rays which the wood had a 8 to 10 yr concrete broke down at 15yr and primix lasted 30yr the Co. hade the caculations on the cost of replacement cost in the 500.000.00 price range for the Rail Road industry this was cut in half using the composit tie.The ties are made out of high grade recicled plastic and rubber tires with a steel and concrete iner core and the composit outer shell and where the track spikes go for track is composit that had a 5times greater holding power than the wood that loosens up with weather and checking where the spikes pull out of the wood.have you ever been cought at R.R crossing and watched the track bounce up and down with the spikes bouncing as the train goes over them. this is what makes this tie so much stronger I cant wait till producton starts .The co had one more test at the Pueblo Colorado test Facility but they decided to go after the internatioal market India ,China Europe they were going for middle east but not shure any more this all the tention and Russia. this is alot of track to cover the cost of the ties were slightly more than Concrete but the savings is in the time they have to be replaced 30yr instesd of 8to 15. the labor cost is what the R.R industry is looking at. Hope this helps good luck. Buy and wait for good mews and the Money will follow
