Umbrella's come in handy on a rainy day--LOL--maybe we ought to send a few cases of trojans to canada---- so everybody who buys into the clear carbon flake pumps will at least have safe sex.

I had a freind -more like a big brother-- who had retired from the us sub fleet as a captian-- he only glowed in the dark a little bit and when he crawled out of the bottle he was really a great guy. Anyway he was involved in private bubblehead ventures with the new ruble. They were working on two distinct ventures. One was to drill for oil below the arctic ice caps and the other was to collect the diamonds in the runoff of certain northern rivers on the other side of gaia from the canadians. I have no doubt that there are some really nice diamonds in the great white---. One barely related topic that might be of significant financial interest to prescient entrepeneurs (those lazy french- they don't even have a word for entrepeneur) in the colder thermoclines is this---

CH4--methane---the cleanest burning hydrocarbon we have---this simple molecule is the most likely candidate for fuel cell useage until we get the H production issue settled -i digress ---ch4 has a freezing point of about +1 deg.C ---there's a whole bunch of "ice cubes" down there---the floor of the ocean is mostly just below this temp.--
the reserves are estimated to be 80 times the values of our estimated oil reserves.---there are some real problems harvesting this abundant resource--most serious problem is that if we are not careful we could disrupt a very delicate balance in the thermoclines and melt it all-- we may already be in danger of doing this without even messing with it directly due to global warming---which some climatologists think happened in a fjord off of norway to end the last ice age. anyway, we have plenty of worthwhile resources at our fingertips if we just show some guts, brains and a little (well maybe a lot here ) risk capital

rememba grasshoppa it not the ansa-- it how we ask da question

Here's a story I found
Clay
--------------------------------------------
Family Turns Grandma Into A Diamond .......

TORONTO, Canada (AP) -- The cremated remains of 80-year-old Edna MacArthur from Alberta have been presented to her family in the form of a diamond stone, the first delivery of this kind in the world, a funeral services official claimed Tuesday.

"This is the first presentation of a synthetic diamond made in this way," Brian Crawford, president of Edmonton-based Fountain Garden Funeral Services, told The Associated Press.

Crawford said MacArthur's remains were compressed into a 3-gram sample and flown to Italy where an Italian firm uses intense heat to incorporate the remains into carbon used to craft a diamond.

The 1/4-carat diamond was presented Monday to MacArthur's granddaughter, Tracey Somerville, and Tracey's mother, Teresa, who used to keep the cremation urn in their living room, Crawford said.

The family planned to have the stone placed in a golden ring, he said.

The quarter carat diamond cost the family $3,240 ($2,052 in U.S. dollars) which Crawford said was much cheaper than the cost of a burial with a moderately priced wooden casket. Its manufacturing process took two weeks.

Crawford said his company has already received three more orders, including a prearranged order from a living person.

if you read the BOOK that Micro posted written by eptstein--it says rather plainly that the worlds diamond asset value is threatened by overproduction and that DeBeers is (if not THE largest)one of the largest of all the trust/anti-trust situations in history --yes there are lots of diamonds--they are only worth what people think they are worth-- DeBeers will be all over this if its for real and all the CMKM people will be rich and i will be happily applauding every one of you from the sidelines. --think about this-- the easiest form of transporting wealth outside the LEGAL banking sytem and outside the the wire system--which is verifiable by the powers that be --- was ONCE diamonds---the worldwide black markets in the 80's in investment diamonds was about cash----much of this was flowing into south america. But how much flowed into south america?--remember in scarface when they were complaining about losing a million dollars a day cuz rats were eating the cash? --the more recent liquid assets have been in consumables-(SEE Afghanistan)---in my opinion the future of this liquid currency biz is in flash-type memory--as far as any diamond stocks goes-- i am not telling anybody to buy or not to buy--i am just observing historical data---I like gold myself--LOL--GOOD LUCK

I WAS REFERING TO THE NOT MUCH WORTH OF DIAMONDS, I TOTALY UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE CH4.
THE WHOLE POINT ABOUT DIAMONDS AND THEIR WORTH IS THE PERCIEVED WORTH AS YOU CORRECTLY POINT OUT. I WAS IN NO WAY IMPLYING YOU DONT SPEAK THE TRUTH AND NO I AM NOT TELLING ANYONE TO BUY CMKM I HAVE NUMEROUS POSTS ABOUT THEM AND I DID POST AN OPEN INVITATION FOR CASAVANT TO CONTACT ME AND /OR PROVE WHERE IN FALC THEY ARE WORKING AS I DO ACTUALLY WORK THERE.
THE WORTH OF DIAMONDS WILL NOT VANISH OVERNIGHT EVEN EXTRUDED AND GROWN DIAMONDS WILL NEVER CAUSE THAT BECAUSE THE INDUSTRY IS MOVING TOWARDS CERTIFICATION AND LASER MARKING WHICH WILL THEN SLOW DOWN THE BLOOD DIAMONDS AND THE STOLEN GEMS BECAUSE THEY WILL HAVE NO BACKGROUND.
THE WHOLE PERCEPTION OF DIAMONDS HAS BEEN SO WELL PLANTED THAT THE PEOPLE WHO DESIRE THEM WILL ALWAYS WANT THEM AND BE WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE, MYSELF I AM JUST ENJOYING THE WORK AND THE RISE IN DIAMOND STOCK PRICES. I STARTED OUT WITH 140MM OF CMKM AND HAVE REALISED ALL MY INVESTMENT PLUS PROFIT AND A NICE BIG FREE SHARE POSITION FROM SELLING @.0002 THIS LAST WEEK I HOPE EVERY ONE WHO HAS SHARES CAN DO THE SAME .
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND
Roy

Breaking News from The Globe and Mail

Junior mine firms rake in $3-billion

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Advertisement

Hide advertisement

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALLAN ROBINSON
Sunday, February 15, 2004

A surging appetite for speculative exploration plays allowed junior mining companies to raise a whopping $3-billion last year, leaving them more flush with cash than any time since the Bre-X scandal decimated the sector.

And the torrid pace of financings shows no signs of slowing, with multimillion-dollar private-placement deals coming one after another. The enthusiasm for junior mining plays continued last week with Apex Silver Mines Ltd. raising $50-million and with new offerings by DiamondWorks Ltd., which plans to raise $29-million, and Tiberon Minerals Ltd., which aims to raise $8-million.

“This is the research and development money the mining industry has been lacking for many years,” said Graeme Currie, an analyst with Canaccord Capital Corp., comparing exploration dollars with the lifeblood R&D spending that helps to drive the high-tech industry.

For the first time, the inflow of money is covering the entire spectrum of mining companies, from micro-cap to full-scale mine development companies, he said.

The $3-billion that has been raised has been earmarked for exploration, development and acquisitions, Mr. Currie said.

About one-third of that money was raised in the final quarter of last year alone.

For the Canadian mining industry, and the penny-stock plays in particular, it looks like a revival of the exploration game, which was hurt in 1997 as a result of the Bre-X Minerals Ltd. fraud. Before that episode, the last hot exploration market was the hunt for diamonds in the Northwest Territories in the early 1990s.

The industry has also weathered several years of depressed gold and base metal prices, which began to soar in the middle of last year.

“It's going to be a busy year and we don't foresee a lack of news flow at all from any sector,” Mr. Currie said. The exploration targets cover the entire range of mining activities, from base and precious metals to diamonds and gemstones, he said.

Geographically, the money will be spent in South America, Africa, China, Mongolia and the former republics of the Soviet Union, but there are also some exploration plays in Canada.

To some degree, the money has been following the soaring price of base metals. “Nickel plays are everywhere,” said Terence Ortslan, a mining consultant with TSO & Associates of Montreal. “Copper is also very much in fashion.”

For now there is a distinct lack of focus as to where the exploration dollars are flowing. “We need a discovery within 12 months or the market will get impatient,” Mr. Ortslan said.

It will also take a major discovery to spark a staking rush and the kind of stock market boom that allows promoters to raise hundreds of millions on a highly focused play.

Almost $1-billion of the money raised last year on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Canadian Venture Exchange came in the form of private placements in the final quarter of 2003, according to figures provided by Can West Interactive and its investment research arm, Mr. Currie said.

In that quarter alone, almost 100 separate financing deals raised sums ranging from $1-million to $6-million — amounts usually associated with grassroots exploration programs.

Another 30 deals were arranged in the $7-million to $15-million range.

“The amount of new money coming into smaller deals is phenomenal,” said Douglas Leishman, senior vice-president of Endeavour Financial Ltd. of Vancouver.

The biggest deals were by Nevsun Resources Ltd. ($68-million); Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. ($50-million U.S.); Thistle Mining Inc. ($44.7-million Canadian); Bolivar Gold Corp. ($26-million); DRC Resources Corp. ($24.1-million); International Minerals Corp. ($22.3-million); Anooraq Resources Corp. ($20-million); SEMAFO Inc. ($16.5-million). In addition to the October private placement, Ivanhoe raised $115-million (U.S.) in a bought deal on Dec. 19.

“Can the industry utilize that money efficiently?” asked one hard-bitten stockbroker familiar with the high-risk nature of mine exploration. “The mining game is ‘you put money down a hole and you never get it back,' ” he said.

Analysts say a lot of the private-placement money comes from European investors and sophisticated players and institutions.

The private placements allow money to be raised quickly and without the cost, detailed disclosure and legal problems encountered when prospectuses are issued. One potential problem investors should be aware of is that, after four months, shares sold originally as private placements can be resold in the market, adding to the supply of stock. Traders warn that the share price of companies that have made private placements can potentially be hit with a lot of stock coming on the market, especially if the stock price has risen since the private placement or if the exploration program fails live up to expectations.

Sparkling diamond market lights up investors' eyes

Keith Woolhouse
Citizen Special

February 15, 2004

A kiss on the hand may be quite continental but diamonds are a girl's best friend, sang Marilyn Monroe in the movie, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. But as an investment, diamonds haven't caught fire except among the rich and adventurous.

That may change as Canada becomes a major player internationally. Not only is Canada rich in diamonds, it is rich in high-quality diamonds. From 1998 to 2002 roughly 13.8 million carats worth $2.8 billion have been mined. That's the equivalent of a 1.5-kilogram bag of ice each day for five years, with each bag worth $1.5 million.

Canada is on the verge of producing upward of 15 per cent of the world's diamond supply and being the third-largest producer behind Botswana and Russia.

Last week, the international conglomerate, De Beers Societe Anonyme, reported that its sales last year rose seven per cent over 2002 to $5.52 billion U.S.

Author Edward Jay Epstein once postulated that an unruly market might undo the work of De Beers, one of the most successful cartels in the annals of modern commerce. He pointed out that while other commodities, such as gold, silver, copper and grains, fluctuate in response to economic conditions, diamonds become more expensive every year.

Last year was no exception. De Beers raised its rough diamond prices three times by a total of 10 per cent.

Canada got its start in diamonds in 1991 when a few precious stones were discovered at Point Lake near Lac de Gras in the Northwest Territories.

Since then, two diamond mines have begun production: Ekati and Diavik, both in the N.W.T. Ekati is 80-per-cent owned by BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. and 10 per cent apiece by the discoverers Chuck Fipke and Stewart Blusson.

The Diavik mine is a joint venture between Diavik Diamond Mines Inc., a subsidiary of Rio Tinto plc, of London, England, and Aber Diamond Mines Ltd., a subsidiary of Aber Diamond Corp. of Toronto. Diavik owns 60 per cent and Aber Diamond Mines 40 per cent.

Aber Diamond Corp. (ABZ/T) trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The firm has a market capitalization of $2.68 billion, so you know it's one investment where you're getting the mine and not the shaft.

Last March, Aber's shares were $25.35. Since then, they've risen 107 per cent to a high on Jan. 9 of $52.50. The shares were $6.50 in January 1995. In late 1998 they were $6.95. Then came the diamond discovery and the rest, as they say, is history.

But can history repeat itself?

There are many hopefuls on the diamond hunt. With a couple of exceptions the companies, basically penny stocks, are listed on the TSX Venture exchange. There's Jack Maris with Geodex Minerals (GXM/X) in northeastern Manitoba; Graeme Rowland with Rock Resources (RCK/X) in Ontario's Temagami region; Marie-Jose Girard and Dominique Doucet with Dios Exploration (DOS/X) in northern Quebec; and Gary Billingsley with Great Western Minerals Group (GWG/X) in central Saskatchewan. Michael Mackey's Vault Minerals (VMI/X) is about to start work on its prospect in the Attawapiskat region in northern Ontario. Several other explorers are in the region, including De Beers and EKATI discoverer Chuck Fipke.

But for all the exploration and buzz, there are still only two diamond mines operating.

Now, a third one in the offing is bringing a gleam to investors' eyes. It is the Jericho project being developed in Nunavut by Tahera Corp. of Toronto. The mine is expected to be in production next year.

Tahera (TAH/T) has a market value of only $175 million. This week, Nunavut approved the findings of Jericho's environmental impact study. The news prompted a stampede with 12 per cent of Tahera changing hands and the stock soaring to a high of 69 cents. The frenzy didn't last. By week's end the stock was back in the 45-cent range.

Still, no one disputes that there are diamonds on Tahera's property. The Jericho mine is expected to have a life of about eight years and produce about five million carats. Compare that with Ekati and Diavik, which have lifespans of 20 years, with Ekati producing 65 million carats and Diavik 120 million carats.

The undisputed dean of the diamond sector is Will Purcell, who over the last 30 years has been a miner, prospector, consultant, investor and is now an industry writer for Stockwatch, a B.C.-based financial newsletter.

"The exploration activity is as hot as anything in the early 1990s, which was the heyday of the sector,'' he says. "Why are diamonds so hot right now? My best guess is that the encouraging early results from Quebec and Ontario and the continuation of the Alberta and Saskatchewan plays have demonstrated that diamonds may be found beyond the limited area around Lac de Gras.''

What makes Tahera's Jericho project interesting is that it's a true diamond play. Being only the third operating mine gives it a special lure and being in penny-stock territory makes it a tempting, although speculative investment. Will the shares soar when the first diamonds get brought to the surface? That's anybody's guess. Aber Diamond Corp.'s stock took off like a rocket -- 655 per cent in the past six years.

Only sure thing, as Marilyn cooed, is that square-cut or pear-shaped, these rocks don't lose their shape

Diamonds North Resources Ltd. Quick Quote: DDN (no quote)

Diamonds North Discovers New Potential Diamond District in Nunavut
2/16/04

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Feb 16, 2004 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) --
Diamonds North Resources Ltd. (DDN-TSX Venture) reports that it has a potential new kimberlite district discovery through its regional exploration programs. On receipt of very positive indicator mineral results, the Company staked a large bloc
k of claims last fall covering over 418,000 acres near Kugaaruk, Nunavut, formerly known as Pelly Bay. The company owns these claims 100%.

The Company recently acquired an interest in an additional 3.3 million acres of land. The 3.3 million acres surrounds the 100% Diamonds North claim block and was acquired jointly with BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc., through permitting and staking to cover several kimberlite indicator mineral anomalies. This large land position places Diamonds North in the centre of this developing diamond play where more than 13 million acres have been acquired. Other land holders in the area include De Beers Canada Exploration Inc., BHP Billiton Diamond Inc., Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. and other diamond exploration companies. A map of the area is available on Diamonds North's website; http://www.diamondsnorthresources.com/s/Property_Portfolio.asp.

Diamonds North 100% Claims

Diamonds North's 100% owned central 418,365 acre claim block consists of 162 contiguous claims, located 45 km south of Kugaaruk and 320 km west of Stornoway's Aviat kimberlite discovery. The property was staked by Diamonds North to secure several anomalous kimberlite indicator mineral occurrences discovered by regional sampling.

Multiple samples collected from the property contain abundant kimberlite indicator minerals. One sample in particular, contains more than 1350 kimberlite indicator mineral grains including peridotitic and eclogitic garnet, chromite, chrome diopside and ilmenite.

'These are tremendously high counts for regional samples. This indicates to us that we are close to a kimberlite source'states Mark Kolebaba, President of Diamonds North.

Based on the sample distribution and indicator minerals recovered, the company anticipates the potential for 2 to 4 kimberlite clusters on the property.

Planning for an aggressive exploration program is underway. An airborne geophysical survey is planned to begin in March to identify possible drill targets over high priority areas of the claim block. A detailed sampling and prospecting program will be undertaken between July and August.

Diamonds North - BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. Joint Venture

Diamonds North Resources Ltd. and BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. have entered into an agreement on lands surrounding the 100% owned Diamonds North claims. The agreement covers 34 exploration permits totaling 2,142,745 acres and approximately 464 recently staked claims, totaling 1,198,280 acres. Although the total number of granted claims is not yet known, the total estimated land position under the joint venture is approximately 3,341,000 acres.

Under the terms of the agreement, Diamonds North Resources Ltd. and BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc. will each hold an initial 50% interest in the lands and each of the parties will contribute 50% of the staking and exploration costs. BHP Billiton may elect to earn an additional 5%, 10% or 15% equity position in the property by sole funding the first 200 tonne, 1000 tonne and 3000 tonne bulk samples respectively.

Mark Kolebaba stated, 'BHP Billiton is a great partner for this project; they are successful explorers and we feel they have a strong commitment to grow their Canadian diamond business.'

The land within the joint venture area is highly prospective for diamonds. Several kimberlite indicator mineral anomalies have been discovered by regional till sampling programs conducted independently by Diamonds North and BHP Billiton. These indicator mineral occurrences will be followed up jointly during the 2004 field season with BHP Billiton as the project operator.

Mr. G. Gill, P.Geo. and Mr. B. Kienlen, P.Geol., B.Sc., are Qualified Persons as defined by National Instrument 43-101 for Diamonds North Resources Ltd.

On behalf of Diamonds North Resources Ltd.
