I have seen a few post that refer to (for example) "there was more selling than buying today" OR "there was mostly buying today".

I have never understood this wording. It seems that for every seller there is a buyer.

Is this phrase refering to hitting the ask or bid price?

If someone hits the BID then that would be refered to as a seller. Someone hitting the ASK would be a buyer.

Thanks,
PAUL

In BB world we are mainly buying/selling to MM's so more selling = more people hitting MM bid (selling pressure) and visa versa.

So how do I tell if if it has buying or selling pressure during or at the end of the day?

I understand I can watch level II but that shows me real time depth. It would drive me nuts to try to track each sell to see if it was a "buy" or "sell".

A little direction would be appreciated.

In general- the volume bars at the bottom of the charts should be your guide--if it is red--then selling is prevalant--if it is green then buying is prevalent
remeber the MM's can paint the charts so if you are working one hard you have to watch the volumes on the bids and asks--charting and quoting go together to give you the picture

I think you may want to research the "TRIN"
Formula.
