MALVERN, Pa., March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- USA Technologies (OTC Bulletin Board: USTT) announced today that it has deployed more than 100,000 EnergyMisers, energy saving units nationwide, achieving another milestone in its rapidly accelerating growth and success. "We shipped 5,000 EnergyMisers in December alone, and demand has soared to where we expect to ship another 45,000 to 48,000 EnergyMisers over the next 12 months," said Stephen P. Herbert, President and Chief Operating Officer, USA Technologies. "One hundred thousand EnergyMisers translates into saving 120MM kilowatt-hours of energy per year, which is equal to taking nearly 6,500 cars off the road, saving our customers $12 million in energy costs." The EnergyMiser products have the capacity to reduce energy consumption in vending machines and other commercial appliances by almost half. Twenty major power companies and energy utilities nationwide have already assessed the value of USA Technologies' energy management technology, and are offering rebates of between $30 and $125 per unit. Another 100 electric utilities have participated, or are currently participating in, the Company's VendingMiser Turnkey Program, which provides customers with VendingMiser controls and installations at no cost. In recent weeks the Eugene Water and Electric Board, the oldest publicly owned electric utility in the North West, and largest customer-owned utility in the State of Oregon, became the latest power company to offer a rebate per installation of USA Technologies' VendingMiser. More recently, the US Naval Station in Yokosuka, Japan announced it was installing VendingMisers throughout the base, following similar implementations at the US Air Force base in Misawa, Japan, as well as US bases at Pearl Harbor and San Diego. Among the latest utilities to participate in the turnkey program are Utah Power, which offers energy efficiency incentives to 205 communities and 83,000 customers; North Western Energy, which is providing EnergyMisers at no cost to public schools, city, county and State Government buildings; and Austin Energy, which installed 4,400 EnergyMisers to customers in 2003, and expects to order another 3,000 in 2004.
