Stop
An order to buy or sell at the market price once the security has traded at a specified price called the Stop Price. Once a stop has been activated, it is subject to the same rules and conditions as a market order. These can be used to protect a gain or limit a loss. Sell stop orders are placed at a price below the current bid; buy stop orders above the ask price.

Stop Limit
An order to buy or sell at a specified price or better (called the Stop Limit Price) but only after a given stop price has been reached or passed. In a fast-moving market it may not be possible to execute an order at your limit price, so you may not have the protection you sought.

A stop sell order would execute as a market sell order once the stock price dropped to the specified low price. If you set the stop sell at 6.7 on a 7 dollar stock, the order would execute as a market order once the price dropped to 6.7. Since it is a market order, the sell price might be below 6.7. A stop limit order would execute once the price dropped to 6.7, but at a limit price of of 6.7 or more, so if the stock dropped fast once it dropped to 6.7, your order might never be executed since the price dropped below 6.7 quickly.
