I have not been long on anything for a few months now, and may look to re-invest in the market over the next two years; however, no earlier than next summer. That is when I believe it may be safe to re-enter.

What are folks' thoughts on the market?

Where are you at on investing?

When will you re-invest?

WEL, NRF, ETFC

At these levels you will be a big winner 5 years out..

NRF dividend in an IRA is amazing.

What if they tank more and remain stagnant for five years or longer?

ETFC? If folks aren't trading much, how is ETFC making money in upcoming quarters and how will the pps go up?

Same goes for WEL. If gas/oil prices stay low, where are the profits? Nowhere's near where they were last year. It will be quarter after quarter of less profits than the previous years' quarters. A pps increase is not justified. Not good.

NRF - What good is a divy if pps continues to fall at a faster pace than the divy can keep up with offsetting the loss in pps? That looks like a nice divy; however, looks can be deceiving... They want you to take the bait + swallow it...

Buying now + holding doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Peaser, unfortunately you didn't do any real DD on the companies.

I'm not going to go into huge detail.

Plus WEL oil/gas prices don't matter much. You obviously have no clue what they do. They aren't an oil/gas company, they have a certain niche in the oil and gas industry. Read about it.

ETFC- right now the market is so volatile Etrade is making tons of money as people are trading more than usual. Remember, people who are long term traders who lost their 401k's weren't trading anyways. Etrade is priced near bankruptcy due to a brutal HELOC portfolio. Historically, Etrade makes over a buck a share. Let's say traders dont trade that much..okay $.60 per share eventually= $6.00-$7.50

NRF: This is an cmREIT...best of the breed. May fall more, but right now NO Non performing assets. Unbelievable.

Sometime within the next 5 years, I would expect to see a DOUBLE in all of these.

Good luck my man, I'll be back sometime within the next 5 years to confirm my thoughts here.

Next time please do not just look at yahoo profile page of each company to get "what they do" and then tag general rebuttals to them. Do your DD

So then, you're telling me that trading volume in the markets has been unusually high across the board? It has been a tad higher than normal the past few months. Wait and see if that helps next years numbers.

Does etrade still reduce the cost per trade when you trade more than usual? Is the minimum charge still 6.99, and max 9.99?

Peaser, we have both been here for a long time, forget investor...I'm not sure if he's bashing you, or bashing my picks? Regardless, Etrade will report very high write downs tomorrow. It is not time to buy at this level, it most likely will go below $2 again. Long term it will be fine...I'm not saying trading profits next year won't be down. They probably will. But in a few years out when the HELOC portfolio is off the books and its just the bank and trading earnings...you should see at least .50 EPS they were doing way over $1 prior to the HELOC issue, and share price north of $5.

WEL seems to be moving at the same rate that the ppb/oil is, just as Apache is and many other downgraded oil and gas service providers. This sector seems to be following the ppb/oil if they are compared on a chart.

The sector isn't doing much now, and being downgraded. I think they all have more room to fall along with further downgrades in the coming year.

In five years, who knows. You may be right.

Unfortunately like I said before, the market is selling off oil etc...but little do they know of WEL's niche. As earnings get better and better and bigger contracts come in each quarter along with the anitcipated acquisition of another company this will skyrocket. Check out Morgan Keegan's oil service stocks, all downgraded except for 3 of them. One was WEL which they maintained their "outperform". Do your DD, don't do general index looks, this is an outstanding performer.

Etrade is the main reason I reentered the market some months ago... and here were my last few picks. Price line when dropped for a few dollars. and Google IPO.

I have in the past looked for good companies with a short term problem/bad press. They recover usually.

I say Etrade is a great buy. I am currently in.

I'll address the other later.

btw I just bought into oil. At the recent low prices.. it's bound to go up.

I was anxious to start buying the big stocks. They will recover over time. Some dropped for no reason. It is better to get back in early... go down a little more than to wait and miss the up. I would at least start dollar cost averaging into the market. whether it goes back up now or down more you win.

Here is my rule of thumb... do the opposite of the mass. THEY ARE SCARRED, SELLING.

Average person gets in too late... when the great investors are selling.

As I have been originally saying, and called that that the bottom is in. I called the very day it hit 7900. Your saying you’re not going to get back in until next summer? You will be getting in only to loose money on the down side. As I said before, when everyone is greedy be fearful, when everyone is fearful be greedy. Allot of these armature traders on this site are constantly contrarians, and pessimistic. I'll ask all of you, have you made any money this year? Are you down for the year? I'm up several hundred percent with shorting Financials, then getting long at the right time. Up or down for the year??????

So ya can't even use your own words? geez...
Where'd ya steal that saying from? Buffet

I believe that this saying is correct, except now is the time folks are being greedy...

Gonna crack that intraday low of 7900, wait and see. Personally, I'd rather wait and try to catch somewhere's near the bottom when it hits.

Their products are, 1) Fish, 2) Aqua Spheres (US Patent) which which are highly advanced floating fish production facilities that extract the fish waste every 45 minutes and then passed through a reprocessor that in turn generates two more products, Methane Gas that is pumped back to the aquasphere as fuel to run its own motors and one single 60' Aqua sphere can produce fish to full growth in 8 months instead of the normal 9 and generate $5,000,000 every eight months. The extracted reprocessed fertilizer is then passed through to its 3) hydroponics farm where they grow organic vegetables, using the fish hertilizer to stimulate growth. These all all designated " Organic" products and with the addition of this special natural fertilizer they are able to grow herbs and vegetables from seed to seed in one month. 4) Biofuels are generated from algae grown
in the first of a kind underwater hydroponic oxygenated " Socks " which is a special material that is placed under water, planted with algae prior to submersion, stimulated for rapid growth also with fish fertilizer, and controlled oygenation. The algae grows faster than under normal conditions, then when it is ready for harvest they simply pull up the " Sock" and harvest is complete. They just
take the algae out of the soks, then compress it into a high grade biofuel with an estimated production of 14,000 gallons per acre. Once the algae is cut, from the mesh it is simply re-submeresed where it immediately begins its new growth cycle. Genious right? Low labor costs and only one time planting. Corn gets a lower quality bio-fuel and produces only 350 gallons or so per acre and has to be replanted. They just keep raising and lowering these specially first of a kind socks. As matter of fact they received a grant from the state of Florida for their intial bio-fuel pilot program. Remember Oil is derived originally from algae and plancton. They have 43 acres of production facilities. Believe it or not the algae after being compressed for oil extraction is turned into another food product. and 5) They have a patent pending Ento-Protein product which is a high protein food product for live stock and fish, made from specially selected insects with a
massive production rate and high in protein content as was determined using a three phase trial with the auspices of Mississippi State University. That trial period is over and was successful in all stages. That product by itself will open a billion dollar market worldwide and they will be the only company with it. It will virtually provide for greater health to livestock and eliminate deseases such as MAD COW which is caused by cows eating their own reprocessed meates and by products, or hogs or chickens and is of course a natural food for many fish. There is no way that this company's future will not be successful and it will be multi-million dollar someday. Their technology is years ahead of anyone else and is all eco friendly. They will be the leaders in the industries with these scientifically concepted products. They use every bit of product. There is no waste. The money they are seeking is $2,100,000 dollars to pay off the note holders, and
another $5,000,000 to bring all fcaets into full production. The money can easily be paid back by stock dilution within 6 months to one year, at which time we believe the stock can hit between $3.00 and $5.00. They would only need to sell betwen 2 and 3,000,000 shares to pay off the entire loan. That very small amount of dilution would be absorbed overnight and with realtively such a small float existing. There total shares issued and outstanding is only I believe 34,000,000 not all of which is being traded, as it is being held by management personally, and stcokholders at large. This has nothing to do with shares in treasury as authorized. I am very high on this company. Anyone who studies it will see the upside potential. They are showing loses only because they were producing a relatively small amount of fish while they were in a research and development mode. They are past that stage and now want to get into full swing. They have been featured on
Discovery Channel and also syndicated to Natural Goegraphic, have appeared in the newspapers and on TV talk shows as well as being articuled on the cover of magazines. The management is highly concerned about shareholder stock value and is open to all of their stockholders. Recommended buy, I personally feel is very strong

This thread is called Long Term Investing..learn what that means.

Both Obama and Mccain are going to through Billion Mabey a trillion dollars towards alternative energy!

Mabey Solar stocks would be good long term plays when the market bottoms...which should be with in 6 to 12 months, hopefully.

Oil is going down cause the stock market is going down...

Since were looking for long term holds for the next bull run...alternative energy would be okay.

Cause once the Market bottoms and starts the next bull run...the price of oil will follow.

And lets not forget the possiblility on military conflicts with Russia, Iran, Ect....That can happen next week for all we know!!!

They better start pullin' that ethanol crap out of our gas here!!

It's inflating the price of gas!!!

Ever think that arguement would ever take place?

Well, it's true now.

Wall St. speculation controls the price of oil, at least it used to.

Long term hold????? Long term? Wow. I can’t hold my tongue any more. With our entire market being down, and some of the greatest companies out there trading at a P/E of 4 or lower, you choose SVNT. I suppose that's why I have been right 100% of every call I have made and you have been wrong 100% of the time. Literally, 100% of the time guy. You have an obligation when posting, to at the bear minimum know what you’re doing. I'm not attacking you but you’re awful. I have the posts to back up my record. Under ALLSTOCKS .Hot stocks forum "buyout candidates”. You even bashed CC when I was making my call. "Who wants them you say, what about K-Mart” If you know how to read a balance sheet they have well over 1 billion in real estate. Stock trades at $30 million. I'm now up well over 100% as your still waiting for your call of DOW 5000. LoL. Get educated before you influence others to spend there hard earned money on your ridiculous calls.
