I bought into MasterCard and sold out after it hit up into the $90's. My 100%+ gain made me happy at the time, but turned out to be the wrong move (now that it has touched $227 a few times). The similarities are astounding:
MA came at a bad time in the market- Vonage, Tim Horton's and other IPO's had done incredibly bad, so MA lowered their price to assure that they would reach their goal.
V is coming at a bad time in the market when everyone is looking for a winner.
Ma came out at $39 V is coming out at $39
MA was suffering from lawsuits that kept the price down for the first few months
V has a $2 Billion dollar fund that they just created for possible settlement costs on their lawsuits.
Jim Cramer Loved MA Jim Cramer Loves Visa.
I just wonder if you guys have compared the more important things, like market cap and value.

well, when you think about it, it's pretty much a non-risk cash-cow business they're into. visa is the network, not the lender, right? they only facilitate the transactions, not underwrite them.. and take percentage of each one. they'll keep making money.

Get a sense of humor. You're the most defensive person I've ever seen. But hey, it's cool if you can't take a joke, not everyone has the ability to laugh at themselves.

In reality it looks like the bid/ask may start in the low 40's. Interestingly enough, MasterCard seems to be rolling up pre-market. Up almost $6. I would have thought it might go the other way.

It's gotta come down to the $42-$45 range before it can be considered a bargain. I don't think it should be in the $65 range for a few weeks yet (judging by MasterCards process which may not be a perfect measuring tool)
