My intent here is to have the members of Allstock's select stocks based on certain criteria.

This will be a group effort, I brought the idea up on another board and here are a few of the suggestions.

From TEX: Oh, I thought you meant more like an "investment club" (but *not* a secret front-loaded deal), in which everybody brings candidates then we narrow it down to one or two, after full discussion.

I like this idea very Much.

From PEASER: There should be a set of guidelines as well to even be able to mention a stock on the board.

The stock pick should get yanked if certain criteria isn't met when listing.

Some things to consider:

Current pps, debt, cash on hand, shares being shorted. O/S, A/S + Float from the past 5 10K's. Institutions holding shares + % held, Any buy, sell, or hold recomendations and who is making the recomendation. P/E ratio.

There's a bunch more stuff to consider as well. I just wanted to add some of the major things that I look for when investing.

1. Determine who all is involved first, determine how many picks each one can submit.

2. Everyone list each pick separately, only after meeting all the determined criteria.

3. After all picks submitted, each person gets a yeah or nay. After the votes are tallied, a list is formed ranking each pick.

From Myself:

I think we should open the thread and open discussion as to what parameters we need to look for.

Since it will be a on public board for discussion., not for front loading since the chart should tells us if that is happening hopefully we will get genuine discussion and people using their various areas of expertise such as Charting, DD and logical thinking.

We have a wealth of knowledge if it's used properly.

Call it anything you want. I propose calling it: The Stock Rating Club and rating the stocks discussed by virtue of 1 to 5 star by the members of the forum.

Peaser:

Absolutely. I prefer finding undervalued big boards, but I occasionally look at undervalued OTCBB's that meet certain criteria of mine, some of which I hinted on above.

Let's start with some discussion. Ultimately I'd like to see two boards. One solely for ratings and one for discussion.

Hopefully we can keep the board up in a way that we don't get the driveby: To Da Moon or Scam posts.

We are all here to make money. Let's put our heads and talent together and do just that.

I suppose we could start with scans off of Stockcharts...

Anybody got favorite scans?

This has the potential to be a great thread if people stick with the plan. Tex, is it acceptable to have you delete obviously BS posts, like if someone posts about a .0001 stock with no volume where "big money is getting in tomorrow, get in while you can!", or will we just have to wade through them?

I doubt I'll have too much to contribute off the bat, but am planning to do a crash sourse in the next month or so on trying to find some more ways to pick winners on "real" stocks.

Good luck to all.

Or, make the thread that contains the rated stocks only assessable by one or two people if possible??

Keep in mind, low floaters with the higher rankings might get an initial pop when first mentioned, therefore a buy in price or range might be a nice touch, along with a future target.

Maybe even place a new link on the homepage to access the ranked picks. It'd prolly be best to keep the stocks big boards if this were the case.

Anixter AXE
Belden Wire BDC

Their season is just beginning
Low PE
45-50% below their intrinsic values
Possible 20-30 points before November
Cyclical

Instrinsic values are probably closer to 30-45% depending on the daily swings.

A bit early to be making picks as were are still working on parameters here.

Yet Tex, brings up a good point. Can you explain the intrinsic value of the stock you are speaking of?

This is a good test case here. We are not attacking your pick only wanting you to present the whole picture, which in my mind is what this thread should be about. Not just throwing a pick out there but having something to back up your reasoning.

Makes total sense to me. Hey this is a learning process, if deletions are to heavy, we lose chances to learn.

As long as things are done in a way to enhance the thread and allow for further learning that's great.

Here is something that might be helpful in determining a stock's worthiness not saying that it tells everything but may be a good tool to include in DD of stocks.

Ya got me thinkin' wally.

I wonder if the ratio mentioned in the link has anything to do with how some analysts rank the risk of a stock in their reports.
