Alcatel Alenia Space Sees Revenue Growth In 2007
Jan 18, 2007 14:14:00 (ET)
PARIS (Dow Jones)--Alcatel Alenia Space, the space division of electronic and telecoms equipment company Alcatel-Lucent (ALU), said Thursday it expects further revenue growth in 2007 after a 10% rise last year.
A spokeswoman for the division, which will be folded into electronics and defense equipment company Thales SA (12132.FR) later this year, declined to give figures, noting that Alcatel-Lucent, which controls two-thirds of the space unit, will be reporting its 2006 results on Feb. 9. Alenia SpA of Italy holds the remaining one-third of the space company's capital.
Alcatel Alenia Space sold a total of 57 satellites last year, including eight geostationary communications satellites and 48 second-generation low Earth orbit satellites for satellite operator Globalstar Inc (GSAT).
The official said Alcatel Alenia Space hopes to at least maintain in 2007 last year's 30% market share for geostationary satellites, as well as one-third of the world market for commercial satellite payloads.
