EarthShell Products to Make Retail Launch with First Customers

BALTIMORE, Dec 14, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- EarthShell(R) Corporation (ERTH) announced today that the initial retail launch of EarthShell Packaging plates and bowls by its U.S.-based licensee, ReNewable Products, Inc. (RPI) is scheduled for January with first customers. The 9-inch plates and 12-ounce bowls will be available in a newly designed retail package and sold under the name EarthShell Disposable Dinnerware.
RPI initiated sales calls in late October and reports that customer interest is high. The first customers committed to product purchase are Smart & Final, Inc. and Schnucks Markets, Inc. Initial product shipments to both customers are scheduled to begin in January. Smart & Final, Inc. operates more than 235 non-membership warehouse stores for food and foodservice supplies in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada and Idaho. Schnucks Markets, Inc. currently operates 102 stores and 99 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi and Iowa. RPI is currently in various stages of the sales process with other major and mid-sized customers and expects to finalize additional purchase commitments in early 2006 and throughout the year.

RPI will continue directing its initial sales focus on the retail market segment and is also on target for completion of an additional eight manufacturing modules by mid-January. The Company anticipates that RPI will expand its sales efforts as additional manufacturing capacity is brought online. EarthShell and RPI plan to provide business and sales updates as various activities are finalized.
EarthShell Corporation is engaged in the licensing and commercialization of proprietary composite material technology for the manufacture of foodservice disposable packaging, including plates, bowls, cups, hinged-lid containers and sandwich wraps. this has always been an interesting company. talk of a deal with McDonalds years ago for packaging was the hype back then. we'll see if they can finally get the ball rolling.
