seriously... i think most of todays red is from CHINA announcing a slowdown... i don't think they really are gonna slowdown, i think they are worried about the dollar strengtheneing.....they have this funny way of banking... they don't pay back their loans too well....the Chinese govt. seems to promote this....

Glass, you play otcbb's which are slightly connected to the Nasdaq, I play pinks, which have no connection to the Nasdaq. So todays news will affect you but shouldn't affect me too much. From what I've read.
What we need is a market overview for pinks, like the Dow, Nasdaq, TSE, ect.

Last two weeks haven't been pretty for me: am down ~15% overall since I started this game about a month ago (mainly thanks to BTP.V's collapse). Am definitely getting discouraged and thinking about just sticking to 529 and mutual funds, especially if Mother Hen has really flown the coop for good. Glad I only sunk about $6k total in as a test and kept nearly everything in other investments.
A frustrating situation because I try to pick carefully, due my DD, and pick good long-terms stocks. Yet - several have crashed short-term. These are the stocks I own: EBAY, MSFT, ALMI, IESV, NWD, PRVH, BTP.V, HOM, EFLT, GZFX, CNR, CLSI, plus some small short-terms positions in WNMI, WLSF, and CTDH that I am even on and don't plan on holding very long.
Personally, I like all of these stocks, at least the long-terms ones. However, 2 have crashed completely (BTP and EFLT), some have sustained minor losses and seem to be sinking (IESV, PRVH, NWD, CLSI, CNR), and others have gone nowhere; all adding up to a total 15% loss in a single month. The best performing stocks by far have been my only 2 token "big" stocks, ironically: they have kept me from a larger overall loss (should have bought more ebay at $66).
One thing I guess I'm stubborn about is - I just can't bring myself to buy stocks that I think are crap. I saw SUMU today, thought it was a junk company, and passed. The very mention of other crap companies like SSWH makes me cringe and bristle. This will irritate some people, but - I think IBZT and QBID are ridiculously overinflated balloons just begging to pop, wouldn't go near hyped up companies like that with a 10 foot pole.
Guess I need to just step away, not look for awhile, have some faith in the companies I picked, and be patient - sometimes easier said than done though when I seem to see more red than green whenever I "peek". Here's to hoping for a better May than April has been!

May is historically the best month for the market (according to The Master Day Trader written in 2002 I believe), so it should look pretty good for your large cap stocks.

Don't think you're alone with the REDs. I also have NWD and CTDH, and, I intend to keep them for a while. They are good stocks.
One of my stocks went down .02 on a revenue increase of 175%, operating income increase of 176% and a net income increase of 199%. Go figure...it makes absolutely no sense!!

it's never all up, one of the things that always "annoys" (LOL) me is people who claim to hit winners every time and they post their buys at the lowest lows and their sells at the highest highs... funny that some peole seem to believe them too....

W#1 I like both NWD and CTDH, probably shouldn't have grouped CTDH in with the short-term stocks. am planning on holding it as long as they keep their ridiculously low P/E and their earnings stay up like they've been doing the last few Q's. really like the tiny float on this one too.
NWD is odd: blip-opened to 1.10 suddenly a few weeks ago, since drifted back. their prospects look good, last 10Q was great.
hopefully both of these will bounce up a bit, they both seem undervalued to me at the moment.
ah well, only one more trading day in april - let's hope may brings greener pastures for all of us!

A big Hi to Wallace and I am also seeing major Red. I have a ton of pink and OTC stocks and I only seriously worry when dilution is the cause of the Red. Unfortunatley that happens too often.
Great times-I share your NT problems. I also bought more when it first dipped to 5.60 thinking it was a good buying opportunity. Now I am wondering if I should wait until it hits .35 again and back up the truck to load up shares. What is your take on this? I thought at $5.60+ they could have some accounting problems but that they couldn't have made up all the business in China with JNPR etc. GLTY and I hope some of your other investments make up for it.-Deb

A special hello to Debi, and, Good Morning to all.
Yesterday really stunk!! Other than "Unch", I had just one stock Green (PTSC) and that was up all of .001. No complaints though, I'm still ahead.
Who said May is a good month? I think it is Stovall's Mkt Watch that said SELL, SELL, SELL...May is a bad month. Let's not listen! Besides, I think that now is a good time to be on the BUY side. Never 100% right though.

From all appearances, today might be somewhat like yesterday...DOWN. However, as of now, 25% of my stocks are Unch and another 25% are an odd shade of Green. LOL
