New Orleans – […] The first transport of refugees arrived in New Orleans recently and will be resettled in Louisiana and 180 other American communities.

[…] The 10,000 Syrian refugees are first flown to the United States, according to the French news wire Agence France-Presse, with the State Department paying the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for the airfare.

Then, once the refugees arrive in the country, they could be dispersed across the 180 cities listed above, where they are to aided within the first 30 to 90 days in settling and finding employment in the area.

After approximately 90 days, refugees are no longer eligible for the State Department-funded support that they were receiving through migrant and refugee services. However, they are able to join support programs through the Department of Health and Human Services.

Additionally, it is unclear how much the screening process for the 10,000 Syrian refugees will cost American taxpayers.

Of course Obama is going around making this some kind of issue with Republicans when well over half the country doesnt want it. Again the minority opinion being forced on the majority.

It gets worse. More than 120 Illegals have been charged with homicide AFTER being detained by ICE since 2010.

Obama is on the wrong side of this one.

It really irks me that he said it was unAmerican to not want Syrian refugees. I think the Democrats are going to self-destruct on this one. And then when it does happen, they'll try to blame the GOP for creating a bad atmosphere that caused a terrorist to commit some heinous act....

The GOP is dead, and they did it to themselves, now the Dumocrats are going to follow suit with this refugee issue, and we'll all be choosing between dumb and dumber.
a syrian attack on US soil 2 weeks before the election would really make a mess of the system if this continues to be so partisan.
We should have created no-fly zones in Syria and set up a safe zone for these people so they didn't have to flee. (another Obama choice)They had a country that was theirs, and they need to be helped to get it BACK...

glass as for me I say why should we take anybody in I do disagree with Obama on this situation. To take these people in and role the red carpet out is just more than a lot of Americans can choke down right now. If we let them force themselves on us like a bunch of weaklings think of the message that we are sending out to the world.

Trump really made this into a mess huh? Fact is, we can't ban Muslims. We can ban people from countries, or people who visit certain countries, but we can't ban religions including Satanists. So instead of the issue being whether to allow Refugees from a country in civil war, all we hear is how bad Trump is. Hillary is being chosen by default somehow, even though she voted for the Iraq war and ran the State Dept from her home g-d-m computer. WTF????

When jimmy Carter banned Iranians and used draconian (not my choice word but suitable) policies for those who wanted to stay here on Visa's everybody breathed a sigh of releif.

Now, today we are supposed to give up all our rights gun ownership privacy no warrrantless searches etc. becuase of THE FEAR of a few Muslims, but if you express that fear in genral terms you are th worst kind of biggot.

The mind police are already here and deployed.

hate to tell you this again cashcow, but Bush Jr screwed up worse than *anybody* since the Emperor of Japan did in Dec of 41
November 30, 2003

In his recent speech before the National Endowment for Democracy, President Bush pledged that the United States would embark on a decades-long commitment to bring democracy to the Middle East. But democracy is not a gift President Bush can bestow on people in distant lands.

Although the goal is laudable, the Bush administration will be disappointed with its effort to establish a stable liberal democracy in any Middle Eastern nation. That’s the verdict rendered by history, the contemporary reality of the region, and our own government experts.

Today, the Middle East lacks the conditions, such as a democratic political history, high standards of living, and high literacy rates, which stimulated democratic change in, for example, central Europe and East Asia. Ironically, many Arab countries are ruled by authoritarian leaders who are more liberal than the citizenry they lead.

President Bush’s speech ignored a classified Feb. 26, 2003, State Department report that expressed doubt that installing a new regime in Iraq will foster the spread of democracy in the Middle East. Written by the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, the report argued that “even if some version of democracy took root … anti-American sentiment is so pervasive that Iraqi elections in the short term could lead to the rise of Islamic-controlled governments hostile to the United States.”
