Leader Of Loaded Gun March Compares Himself To Gandhi

By Rebecca Leber on May 15, 2013 at 9:00 am

On July 4, Adam Kokesh hopes to lead 1,000 protesters armed with guns into Washington, D.C. to advocate for open carry. In Kokesh’s eyes, a crowd armed with guns compares to the nonviolent civil disobedience practiced by Mahatma Gandhi.

Kokesh answered the Washington Post through a series of text messages:

Suppose the D.C. police, as they have promised, block the marchers from crossing into Washington? How should they respond?

“With Satyagraha,” Kokesh, 31, texted The Washington Post. That is a term used by Mahatma Gandhi to describe his strategy of nonviolent resistance to British rule in India. [...]

Did his response of “satyagraha” mean violence is unacceptable?

“Only if absolutely necessary in defense of life or limb,” he wrote.

Satyagraha, in Gandhi’s words, is “a way of life based on love and compassion.” Gandhi explained that “[i]n the application of Satyagraha I have discovered in the earliest stages that pursuit of truth did not admit of violence being inflicted on one’s opponent but that he must be weaned from error by patience and sympathy.”

Compare Satyagraha to Kokesh’s event description on Facebook. Although Kokesh claims his march will “peacefully turn back” if confronted with “physical resistance,” he ominously warns the march will be violent if “the government chooses to make it violent.” He also proclaims that “[w]e will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny.”

Because open carry is illegal in D.C., the police chief has already warned that “passing into the District of Columbia with firearms is a violation of the law and we’ll have to treat it as such.” Even open carry groups like Gun Owners of America are wary of the march, which is now at over 4,000 Facebook RSVPs.

Kokesh is not alone in trying to link guns to civil rights movements. The argument has at times been taken up by the National Rifle Association and conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh.

Leader of Armed March On Washington Calls For ‘Revolutionary Army’ To Topple Government

By Ian Millhiser on May 29, 2013 at 5:05 pm

Thousands of people signed up to attend an armed march on Washington over the course of the last month. But now, the leader of the march is setting his sights much higher than a single demonstration — he wants his armed followers to help overthrow the American government.

About a month ago, a gun activist named Adam Kokesh called for thousands of people to join him in an armed march on Washington, D.C. to “put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny.” As of this writing, nearly 5,200 people have RSVPed for Kokesh’s armed march.

Late last week, however, Kokesh decided to abandon this march in favor of a much larger effort to bring down the entire federal government. In a statement written from a jail cell in Philadelphia (Kokesh faced charges for allegedly resisting arrest during a pro-marijuana rally. He now says he’s been released), the gun activist called for his supporters to form a secessionist “army”:

A new American revolution is long overdue. This revolution has been brewing in the hearts and minds of the people for many years, but this Independence Day, it shall take a new form as the American Revolutionary Army will march on each state capital to demand that the governors of these 50 states immediately initiate the process of an orderly dissolution of the federal government through secession and reclamation of federally held property. Should one whole year from this July 4th pass while the crimes of this government are allowed to continue, we may have passed the point at which non-violent revolution becomes impossible.

The time to sit idly by has passed. To remain neutral is to be complicit, just doing your job is not an excuse, and the line in the sand has been drawn between the people, and the criminals in Washington, D.C. While some timid souls will say that it is too early, that we can solve this problem through democratic means provided by government, that current levels of taxation are reasonable for the services provided, and that the crimes of this government are merely a tolerable nuisance, it may already be too late.

To be sure, it is likely that only a small minority of Americans will rally to a cry to march upon their state capitols and demand that the United States cease to exist. But Kokesh’s call is troubling for the simple reason that he was capable of convincing over 5,000 people to sign up for an armed march on Washington, D.C. It does not take much imagination to figure out what could go wrong if just a few dozen armed and angry secessionists show up at state capitols throughout the country.

IF the 50 Governors were to band together (not going to happen BTW) and refuse to recognise the "validity" of the Federal Govt? How would this process proceed? Under what Constituational Authority would the Feds move forward?

Last election cycle in Wisconsin the "liberals" took over the Sate Capital building as i recall...

then voter recall attempts ensued...

seeems to me that there ARE a lof ot people on both sides that want he govt (state or federal) to go thru a reboot...

as to armed conflict? most people are not interested in that for two reasons, the first is simple fear for their own safety.. the secomd is more intelllectual than "gut". Most peopel people ralise at some level that when Chaos rules? the meanest least scrupulous SOB's emerge to take control...

the US was very lucky to have the Founding Father we did, China and Russia's revolutionary leaders were ghouls and monsters.

after the Russian revolution? the Soviet Union had about the same number of prisoners as we do today.....

Police Commandeer Homes, Get Sued
By MEGAN GALLEGOS

LAS VEGAS (CN) - Henderson police arrested a family for refusing to let officers use their homes as lookouts for a domestic violence investigation of their neighbors, the family claims in court.
Anthony Mitchell and his parents Michael and Linda Mitchell sued the City of Henderson, its Police Chief Jutta Chambers, Officers Garret Poiner, Ronald Feola, Ramona Walls, Angela Walker, and Christopher Worley, and City of North Las Vegas and its Police Chief Joseph Chronister, in Federal Court.
Henderson, pop. 257,000, is a suburb of Las Vegas.
The Mitchell family's claim includes Third Amendment violations, a rare claim in the United States. The Third Amendment prohibits quartering soldiers in citizens' homes in times of peace without the consent of the owner.
"On the morning of July 10th, 2011, officers from the Henderson Police Department responded to a domestic violence call at a neighbor's residence," the Mitchells say in the complaint.
It continues: "At 10:45 a.m. defendant Officer Christopher Worley (HPD) contacted plaintiff Anthony Mitchell via his telephone. Worley told plaintiff that police needed to occupy his home in order to gain a 'tactical advantage' against the occupant of the neighboring house. Anthony Mitchell told the officer that he did not want to become involved and that he did not want police to enter his residence. Although Worley continued to insist that plaintiff should leave his residence, plaintiff clearly explained that he did not intend to leave his home or to allow police to occupy his home. Worley then ended the phone call.
Mitchell claims that defendant officers, including Cawthorn and Worley and Sgt. Michael Waller then "conspired among themselves to force Anthony Mitchell out of his residence and to occupy his home for their own use." (Waller is identified as a defendant in the body of the complaint, but not in the heading of it.)
The complaint continues: "Defendant Officer David Cawthorn outlined the defendants' plan in his official report: 'It was determined to move to 367 Evening Side and attempt to contact Mitchell. If Mitchell answered the door he would be asked to leave. If he refused to leave he would be arrested for Obstructing a Police Officer. If Mitchell refused to answer the door, force entry would be made and Mitchell would be arrested.'"
At a few minutes before noon, at least five defendant officers "arrayed themselves in front of plaintiff Anthony Mitchell's house and prepared to execute their plan," the complaint states.
It continues: "The officers banged forcefully on the door and loudly commanded Anthony Mitchell to open the door to his residence.
"Surprised and perturbed, plaintiff Anthony Mitchell immediately called his mother (plaintiff Linda Mitchell) on the phone, exclaiming to her that the police were beating on his front door.
"Seconds later, officers, including Officer Rockwell, smashed open plaintiff Anthony Mitchell's front door with a metal ram as plaintiff stood in his living room.
"As plaintiff Anthony Mitchell stood in shock, the officers aimed their weapons at Anthony Mitchell and shouted obscenities at him and ordered him to lie down on the floor.
"Fearing for his life, plaintiff Anthony Mitchell dropped his phone and prostrated himself onto the floor of his living room, covering his face and hands.
"Addressing plaintiff as 'asshole', officers, including Officer Snyder, shouted conflicting orders at Anthony Mitchell, commanding him to both shut off his phone, which was on the floor in front of his head, and simultaneously commanding him to 'crawl' toward the officers.
"Confused and terrified, plaintiff Anthony Mitchell remained curled on the floor of his living room, with his hands over his face, and made no movement.
"Although plaintiff Anthony Mitchell was lying motionless on the ground and posed no threat, officers, including Officer David Cawthorn, then fired multiple 'pepperball' rounds at plaintiff as he lay defenseless on the floor of his living room. Anthony Mitchell was struck at least three times by shots fired from close range, injuring him and causing him severe pain." (Parentheses in complaint.)
Officers then arrested him for obstructing a police officer, searched the house and moved furniture without his permission and set up a place in his home for a lookout, Mitchell says in the complaint.
He says they also hurt his pet dog for no reason whatsoever: "Plaintiff Anthony Mitchell's pet, a female dog named 'Sam,' was cowering in the corner when officers smashed through the front door. Although the terrified animal posed no threat to officers, they gratuitously shot it with one or more pepperball rounds. The panicked animal howled in fear and pain and fled from the residence. Sam was subsequently left trapped outside in a fenced alcove without access to water, food, or shelter from the sun for much of the day, while temperatures outside soared to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit."

The officers should know better and there conduct was wrong If what you posted was true. If it was true I would put the high wizard of revolution in the same box both are right wing nuts.

Also makes no difference to the officers of NV if they were protected by NV law because federal laws were broken and now the FBI should take over.

As for the Gun wizard and his canceled march he has broke no laws yet so you leave him be. He is just a nut trying to recruit cannon fodder for his cause.

I still don't see how any of this has to do with background checks.

ray, i agree with you the FBI SHOULD be involved.

the problem is that they are not involved, because these people have had to go to civil court when they were obvioulsy assualted in their own home at and for the convenience of law enforcment.

i dunnno whether it is true or not becuase i was not there right?

why does it seem like the whole country is onlockdown all the time now?

why are bags searched in all public events wherever you go? why do police that have these jobs thinks what they are doing is OK?

what does this have to do with background checks you ask me? well it's reaaaaallly simple. "They" want to be able to tell all of us what to do all the time. I have toldja before, i don't have problem with background checks, i pass them and it has no impact whatsoever on my life. And that gun march dude is whackjob which i tolja awhile back too. i am not disagreeing with you, i a mshowing you much more dsitrubing behavior and action (as opposed to stupid people talking about doing stupid stuff)...

i am beginning to wonder seriously if law enforcement in general is doing the proper background checks when it hires these SOB's [Wink]

you see how easy it is ray? people like Bill and hilalry who (even tho i don't like them one bit) are some of the smartest people around. (Romeny too)

BUT! they think they are smarter than they really are... it really is that simple. Obama? he's pretty smart, but he's not delusional like Romeny and the Clintons.

people like Romeny and the Clintons think they know what's best for the rest of us...

Romeny IS the bankers and hte Clintons? they joined that club. The clintons want to take away guns "for our own good". it's true, do not deny it, they think they know better.

all of this stuff that's going down today is what we broke away from, but don't mispreresent what i'm telling you to the point that i beleiv in aremd revolt, i know better than that too....revolt ends up with the bullys in charge 99% of the time. we don't want that either

how many peaceful demosntrations have been broken up on the last ten years by cops arresting people and then releasing them without charging them? EVERY politcal convention is in th at category for starters... it's getting creepy and it is time for a real third party, the TParty? got no game IMO... i do not have the wherewithal to start a new party tho...

this oughta make you jump with joy ray:

Gun-rights activist Adam Kokesh charged with possessing hallucinogenic mushrooms

View Photo Gallery — A history of activism: Adam Kokesh has promoted a variety of causes over the past six years, including peace in Iraq and free speech. His latest idea is a march into the District by 1,000 people carrying loaded rifles.

By Trishula Patel, Updated: Wednesday, July 10, 9:54 AM E-mail the writer

Police searched the Northern Virginia home of activist Adam Kokesh Tuesday evening and took him into custody for allegedly being in possession of hallucinogenic mushroom while also having a gun, authorities said.

Kokesh, a former Marine, was held overnight at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, charged with possession of schedule I or II drugs while in possession of a firearm, said Lt. Steve Elbert, a spokesman for the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office.

A video posted on YouTube that appears to show activist Adam Kokesh loading a shotgun in Freedom Plaza.

Gun-rights activist charged with having hallucinogenic mushrooms and a gun in his home.

Kokesh refused to be fingerprinted or arraigned, or to speak with court officials on Wednesday morning, said Nancy Lake, Clerk of the Fairfax County General District Court.

He is now scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday morning. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 2.

“We were expecting this. We were expecting the government to raid our house,” Darrell Young, Kokesh’s roommate, told WRC-TV (Channel 4).

(READ: Kokesh has a history of rabble-rousing and self-promotion)

U.S. Park Police Lt. Pamela Smith said her agency executed a search warrant at Kokesh’s home in Herndon about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, looking for a weapon. The park police are the federal agency responsible for policing Freedom Plaza, the concrete park a few blocks from the White House where — in a video posted to YouTube on July 4 — Kokesh appears to load a shotgun in violation of D.C. gun laws.

Smith said she did not know if the YouTube video was the reason for the search warrant. Carrying a loaded weapon, concealed or unconcealed, is against the law in the District. The possession of a firearm not registered in the District carries a penalty up to a year in prison.

“We will not be silent. We will not obey,” Kokesh says in the video. “We will not allow our government to destroy our humanity. We are the final American Revolution. See you next Independence Day.”

According to a news release posted on Kokesh’s Web site, police in cars and helicopters approached Kokesh’s house in Herndon, a suburb 25 miles west of Washington, about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday and staged an “armed invasion.” The house is in the 1500 block of Snow Flake Court.

“Numerous police vehicles, including a light armored vehicle and two low-flying helicopters barricaded Adam’s street,” the news release says. “More than 20 armored SWAT team members surrounded the house, as well as a number of detectives, and plainclothes officers.”

The release says police used a battering ram to knock in the front door and detonated a flash grenade in the foyer, then ransacked the house in a five-hour search while handcuffing Kokesh and detaining others who were in the house in a separate room. Those details could not be independently confirmed.

Herndon police assisted in the search, a communications technician from the department said. But she declined to provide details.

Charging documents filed in court Wednesday morning said Kokesh was charged with possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms, a Schedule I narcotic, while possessing a firearm. Possession of Schedule I or II drugs is a felony in Virginia, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a maximum $2,500 fine. If convicted of possession of the drugs while also in possession of a firearm, Kokesh would face an additional minimum of two years in prison.

this guy has no sympathy from me. if he didn't KNOW he was going to be under the microscope after all the bonehead stuff he said? he's crazy.

my understanding of hallucinogenic mushrooms is that they are a religious sacramnet to many non-Christians in Asia Europe and the Americas... so maybe he has an interesting defense palnned. i hope he's got a lotta cash to prepare his defense

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

that would include partaking of the "flesh of the gods"- this religious pracice is at least 10,000 years old according to experts in archeology
