Black Lawmaker Receives Death Threat Over Gun Bill: ‘There Will Be Blood! I’m Coming For You, N—–’

Franklin Sain, who allegedly threatened to kill state Rep. Rhonda Fields (D-CO) Late last week, police arrested a man for allegedly sending threatening messages to Colorado state Rep. Rhonda Fields (D), a supporter of gun safety laws featured in a recent ThinkProgress video. Fields sponsored bills banning high-capacity magazines in Colorado and requiring universal background checks for gun sales and transfers.
According to police, a man named Franklin Sain sent six emails, one voicemail and one written letter to Fields that were riddled with obscenities, racial slurs, sexist language and violent threats:
“I guarantee there is not enough law enforcement or military to stop an all-out overthrow of this government if you or that n—– president tries to take our guns,” one e-mail dated Feb. 13 reads. “Guarantee we will make World War I and II look like child’s play, many will die. Be prepared.”
Another e-mail expresses hope that someone would “Giffords” both Fields and Rep. Beth McCann, a reference to the 2011 mass shooting that nearly killed Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords.
The paper letter attributed to Sain states, “There will be blood! I’m coming for you, n—– b—–.” . . . “Limiting magazine sizes is stupid and will not work,” he wrote on Feb. 13. “I for one have 100+ 30 round mags and 150 round drums. I will never give those up and I am far from being some whack job.”
In an email to Fields the following day, Sain wrote: “I ordered a ton of new 30 round magazines today C***bag…go f*** yourself and your new law…we won’t abide by it…C*** N*****.”
Before she joined the legislature, Fields’ own son was shot and killed as he waited to testify against a gang member.

would it be considered a vioaltion of his rights to inquire if he would benefit form a the surgical procedure known as prefrontal lobotomy? or maybe just electroshock therapy?i hear they both have a calming effect similar to halidol or thorazine

My thoughts on this are kind of a reach. The guy making the threats is obviously a D-bag. But I am not really focused on the actions of that idiot.
My concern is the drastic polarization that occurs on issues that is demonstrated by both sides of the political spectrum...and that fact is exacerbated by current technology. Meaning that with the ability of anyone to self publish via internet, and round the clock news channels, and governmental leadership peddling fear to secure votes (both parties)....I see no way to meaningfully break the cycle. I am not sure what can occur short of a massive revolt that can stop the degeneration of our culture.
I don't mean to sound overly hyperbolic but I am glad to a large degree that I have no children to pass this off to.
I have found myself forcing myself to stop following current events as closely as I have for the last 6 years. The feeling of inefficacy that comes from being inundated with fear mongering and malicious untruths being perpetuated constantly on a continuous 24 news cycle will lead to what I believe to be the next great plague....neurosis of somesort...caused by living under strain of constant paranoia and distrust that is derived from concern and the inability to affect meaningful change in the world around oneself. Sure there are those that can take it all in and cope...but for everyone person that can I promise you there are 2 that will snap under this type of prolonged strain. I am not sure if the guy in the article is evidence of this, but this type of lashing out will happen with greater frequency as we move forward with our current communications technology coupled with a government that is earning the distrust of its constituents.
For the time being, society seems to be held in limbo to a large extent. Polarization continues to drive centrist towards either end of spectrum and the rate of divergence is staggering. Essentially this polarization is serving to define what may very well be the armies of the next civil war.
So at a time in the future we could have one of two groups (that today we would consider "far Left/Right loons) as the victor...establishing what the new social norm is. It will not be the centrist that prevail. The middle of the pack is where apathy resides...today, motivation to ignite change only exists at the extremes.
So as I try to be logical I see only a handful of possible outcomes:
Unplug and try to preserve ones sanity but forfeit what remains of your autonomy.
stay plugged in and risk that circumstances will drive you to either end of the lunatic fringe.
Stay plugged in and suffer the slings and arrows from both sides....the whole time waiting to see what set of extreme ideologies you will live under once the system is re-booted under a clear victor.
