Anyone have a electrolyzed water machine?

I thinking of getting one and wondering if anyone has tried the water out of these machines.

can you give me more specifics?

electolysing water cause it to "break down" into gases.

subjectign water to electrolysis without convertingit into gas will make more ions present in teh water. pure water (we only see that from distilled water) is H2O
adding a weak electric charge to pure distilled water does almost nothing. I few OH- (minus) and H+ will be split from out of the H2O and collect at the opposite polarity electrodes. so the plus side will have some OH- ions and maybe a few bubbles and the ngative electrode will have some H+ and a few bubble around it...

now, throw some salt in to the water and the once pure water will suddenly begin conducting and if you have enough voltage, it will begin to bubble at the elctrodes... it gets a little complicated here, the negative elctrode (still surrounded by H+ ions) will bubble off H gas, note the gas is not an ion and thats the complicated part, the electrons are coming form the negative electroded into the H+ and making it itno H neutral gas...

the pozative 'lectrode is even more complicated. It sortof steals an electron off the OH- (minus) causing it to split, releasing the Oxygen gas as O neutral and sending the H back into the water hunting for a new partner, it is way more complicated than it looks...

throw some potassium carbonate KCO3 int hte water and the gases will be created in spectacular fashion, somehting odd happens and the reaction is very very fast.. some people even claim to have developed some new energy producing machines offa that technology, but it reamins unexplained and unproven...

in any case, PURE water (ditilled) is not that good good for you. it's not as bad for you as many city water supplies and it is better than most water that is full of minerals (hard water) or bacteria...

unless you have some sort of health issue? or you have bad tap water? it prolly won't do anything... on th eother hand, if yo thnk your water is specifically casuing you some problems? it could help.

i'd like to see the specification of what the particualr machine you have in mind. for instance? how much voltage are the y putting to teh water? it is just a few volts to cause ions to form? cuz they will go back to gether within a few minutes after they are out of the 'lectric curretn anyway... is it supposed to be remoivng impurities?/ or bacteria? cuz it might percipitate a littel out but not much, and bacteria should not be in your water to begin woth.. chlorine is great for that.. and chlorine is realitvely safe to us as long we use it right.

I always keep a gallon of unscented clorox on hand ans esp. when theirs a hurricane coming cuz you can safely drink mudpuddlewater if you treat it with chlorox (unscented) pure clorox and then let it air out for a little while... putting the water in the sun speeds up the process, chlorine doesn't like to stay in water...

I have been reading some about the water and systems, seems to have been used for quite awhile in Japan.

Not sure how much to believe, i can buy a small system for 500, or could build one, but not up to building one anymore.

form the page:

Electrolysis as a water treatment process typically produces two forms of altered water: a reduced or alkaline(high pH) water; and an oxidized or acidic(low pH) water.

This electrolysis process is illustrated below

this is what i was trying to'splain in the post before.

IF they just mix the two differnt types of water back together as it comes out of the tap? you get net zero or nearly net zroe ionized water product..

am i being clear? if they can allow you to draw water only from the plus isde, which is theoretically possible, but mecahnically and hydraulically complicated, you will b e drinking acidic water with a higher concentration of residual chlorine. PH of 2 is what they say on the diagram, that is like the acid in vinegar but purified and distilled to form soemthing known as acetic acid-

if you can get it just form the negative side? it will be very alkaline and have alot of sodium (positive) ions.. those are not good for you...

sodium is a critcal life supporting elemnt but you don't want any more than you need.. you prolly already get too much in salt.

i have doen extensive studying in hydrogen peroxide as a "safe" "green" disinfectant whihc is H2O2

alot of peopel are itno drinking H2O2 hydrogen peroxide in rather high concentraitons (IMO) to accomplish some of the same things you are looking for. It is an oxygenator and i use the brown bottle stuff to clean my teeth AFTER i bruss and flosh... it is harsh but it really does make my teeth feel good, i don't swallow it an don't use very much at one time. the faoming is literally oxygen being relases as reacts witht he stuff in your mouth and converts to H2O and releases O as a gas.... people drink it for ht eoxygen, but i'm not.. and i don't recomen it.

i have an open mind in science, alot of people tell you that this and the H2O2 supplementing is quackery, but and this is a very inportant but, everybody is differnt. if you are for some reaon out of normal PH balance in your body? it may seem minor, but you may feel like crap all the tiem... th edocotrs don't bother to look, but i know and have people who do feel better after adddressing simple issue like this.

when i lived in VA? the litttle old ladies all drank "Joggin' In a Jug" which was made with mild acetic acid- vineagr or pickle juice ya know? Itworks for them but the FDA came down on the guy making it real hard.. the littel old ladies loved it and still do as far as i know they just had to stop making some of hte claims they made...

fact, some people love peanuts, for other one minute spec will kill them.... we are not all the same,

i guess what i am saying is that if you havve the chacne to ry it for free for awhile? try it. but remebr the palcebo effect is very real and useful, and it lasts as much as 90 days. placebo effect has become a real problem in trying to deterine the efficacy in new drugs. the drug co's have to prove that their drug works better thna a placebo, and the placebo effect has been noticably riing voer th elast few decdes. rather than poopoo this data, people should look at it carefully, it tells us something about ourselves, they do say the God helps those who help themselves or a reason you know [Wink]

am i doing good sensei? almost no cut-n-paste [Confused]

Here is one of the units i was looking at.

http://www.costpluswater.com/catalog/articles.php?tPath=25

Yep nothing wrong with a good placebo, unfortunately usually doesn't work for me.

Water ph sure varies from area to area, of course so does the water, as i am sure you know if you ever drank ca. beach area water.

When i worked with dye's and chemicals we were always altering ph's to get what we needed out of the water.

Lots of pro's con's and everythng else these days on what we eat and drink.

exactly. it may be exaclty what you need, but then maybe just a little vinegar or lemon juice every day could work too...
i'm busy as heck this week whihc is unusual forme in summer... i dsually get to hide out in the aircondition during htis month and veg out....looking at getting a place with about a two acre pond... but it's been annexed into a city which i hate... dunnno if it 'll work out yet, and lot's of stuff to look at in the zoning an planning offices.. MS (as opposed to Cali)is very relaxed about these things esp. if you are in the right Church. I ain't. I may have to join it to get waht want. That creeps me out, but i do have this tendency to get what i want regardeless. [Big Grin]

here's where i been coming from iwish:

Traditional disinfectants do not effectively penetrate the biofilm matrix. The disinfectant must have access to the bacteria in order to be effective. Most disinfectants are active against planktonic (unattached) microorganisms but are not effective against microorganisms in biofilm. In order to penetrate and remove biofilms, it is necessary to hydrolyze the biofilm matrix. Hydrolysis breaks up the biological material and exposes the microorganisms within it to the killing action of disinfecting agents. Below are some products commonly utilized in the industry that are not effective against biofilm:

Quats are surface antimicrobials. They have no chemical reactivity with biofilm polysaccharide and are bound up by negative charge on the biofilm surface. Quats leave much of the biofilm matrix intact and do not remove or destroy endotoxins.
Chlorine Dioxide is a strong oxidizing agent. Chlorine Dioxide reacts with the surface of the biofilm but provides no hydrolytic breakdown of the biofilm matrix or mechanical removal.
Peracetic Acid is active on surface regions of biofilm, but is rapidly neutralized by catalase. There is no hydrolysis or mechanical breakdown of biofilm matrix polysaccharides.
Citric acid, muriatic acid, sodium hydrogen sulfate, and other acidifiers used to lower pH are neither approved biocides (ability to kill microorganisms) nor biodispersants (ability to penetrate and remove biofilms). These products are effective at removing scale as discussed later.

It is recommended that poultry water lines be cleaned and disinfected with a product that has EPA-registered claims to penetrate and remove biofilm, and to kill biofilm bacteria. Such a product has passed EPA-required tests that establish the efficacy of the product in removing and penetrating biofilm from surfaces and water lines. The above-mentioned quaternary ammonium products, chlorine dioxide, and peracetic acid do not have EPA-registered claims to penetrate and remove biofilms.
