duh! Murder rates in Mexico's capital are half the national rate of 18 per 100,000 residents, and are lower than homicide rates in U.S. cities like New Orleans and Washington. But that hasn't stifled fears that something bigger could be brewing.
i think Calderon was pretty rude to come into the rose garden and make wild claim that.

(CNSNews.com) – Individuals run a greater risk of being violently murdered in Mexico than in the United States, where the population is more than three times larger than its southern neighbor.
Mexico’s secretary of Interior, Francisco Blake Mora, said there currently are 12 violent homicides registered for every 100,000 Mexican residents, as reported in the Nov. 10 El Universal, a Spanish-language newspaper in Mexico.

At a joint press conference with U.S. President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the Mexican leader declared the end of the assault weapons ban coincided with “the beginning of the harshest period” of the drug war and that “the vast majority of these weapons were sold” in the U.S.
LOL... there was no real ban on assault weapons ever implemented.
the ban was on bayonet mounts, and other key "accessory" features...
i've been down to Mexico and heard full auto fire on several differnt occasions... they sure didn't buy them here legally, cuz that part fo the laws was befor eht eso-called assault wepaon ban and it was not lifted.

glassy-eyed bozo meant meant Calderon is on CSPAN right now saying that wash dc has has a ten times or more murder rate than Mexcio City...
of course, i don't habla the espanol, so it could have been a bad translation...
somehow i don't think so, i think he was being rude to President Obama for somereason
Sounds plausible. Most of the drug related murders aren't in Mexico City. They are in other Mexican states. Check the news...you'll get a clearer pictures of the Mexican murder rate overall.

Didn't the Mexican President address congress and try to lecture us a while back? Thats right, Obama took sides with a third world leader instead of the U.S. citizens over immigration control and issues.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon Criticizes Arizona Immigration Law from WH Press Conference as President Obama Looks on and Says Nothing
Remember when US Presidents used to defend the United States of America? Not this one.
Obama looked on as Mexican President attacks Arizona law from the White House press conference. Mexican President Felipe Calderon criticized the American law while visiting the White House. All this while Obama did nothing to defend the United States of America.
What are the odds that Mexican President Felipe Calderon has not read the law either?
No mention from the Mexican President about the murders, kidnappings, drug and human traficking on the US-Mixico border. Instead a complict US President allowed a foreigner in the Rose Garden slam the USA. Gee President Obama, no bow today?
EXIT QUESTION: What do you think Ronald Regan would have done if he were President and witness to the Mexican President’s comments?

not a good question cash, remeber that Reagan pulled out of the Beirut barracks after over 200 service mebers were killed by suicide bombers. i was pretty ticked... i joined expecting to see action in the striaghts of Hormuz due to the hostage crisis, Reagan didn't respond to that either....
US presidnets can't just play the put down game IMO because we have the real weight to throw around if we want or need... i don't like the way Calderone addressed US, and if we legalised pot? the Mexicans would still be doing meth production and i don't think we'll see meth or heroine legalised any decade soon... cocaine neither....

So why is Obama so afraid to secure the borders? It is more than illegal immigration, its the drug cartels spilling over...its a major problem and the dems are turning a blind eye. They round up groups of illegals and send them back and claim small accomplishments as major victories in securing the nation.

Tell that to the border patrol agent shot in the back in southern AZ, or to the wife of the man shot in the head by a gunman on falcon lake. Perhaps they should just let those tunnels they dig under the border to just be, and allow who knows what to be smuggled under the border. Very defeatist of you.

you think u can eradicate illegal drugs????????something new on the scene every other week...u cant stop ppl from partaking of their vices. thats not defeatist,,its realist. you want weed, heroin, crank, crack, opium,meth,oxy,etc?...give me an hour and I'll get for ya. I wont get it from mexico either . smuggling weed from mex is a thing of the past..I can grow the highest grade in my bedroom.

I know you can jordan. I know there will always be drugs. I worry about some nut job jihadist who sees in the news how easy it is to sneak things across the border. What would you say then if something bad happened? "Oh, well they would have just built something inside the country anyway its just going to happen blah blah blah".

look Pagan no Wikipedia... the training wheel are off!
Mexico doesn't maintain stats worth a chit. Or, more accurately, they don't share the real stats. There's so much "off the book" in Mexico, it ain't even worth spending the breath to talk about it.
Do our government agencies likewise "fudge the numbers"? Sure.
But the margin for error is closer, cuz of our built-in checks and balances.
