Watching a Vietnam special on NatgeoHD called "inside the vietnam war".

I always have known about the Vietnam war and the battles and so forth. However, tonight when really thinking about it.....the body counts on both sides were staggering. What a hell of a war that was. I wasnt around to experience what life was like back in the states, but I think it must have been really jacked up.

Anyone ever serve in the bush over there?

Risky business:

quote:
The dustoff had to fly right into the heart of the battle zone and pluck out shocked, suffering, bleeding and badly damaged combatants who might still be under heavy fire. Yet the medical crew also had to make sure that they themselves managed to survive such fire, so that their rescued casualty could be removed safely to an aid station in the rear.

I think there is quite a few, at least there use to be.

Think it's like looking at our list of classmates from high school, we hope that (use to be} means that we have not heard about them or from them lately, not the lideral sense.

Not sure your missing much.

I don't watch it much even though we have it.

From time to time there is something good, but mostly repeats of the same stuff

Every so often a good boxing match.

We had cable in the motel, which was more or less four months. I had known friends, of course, with cable/satellite, but never had either myself. Raising kiddos, we simply never found it a priority. Didn't have it at the duplex, either, cuz I could get good DSL.

Then we had it about a year (not quite) here at the new place, cuz I *could not* get DSL. I wound up liking a few channels, but could not justify the cost in terms of "promises" versus "delivery," not to mention customer-service headaches. Charter overpromises and underdelivers--and THEN they're rude about it, lol.

I have 2 TV's one in the living room and one in the bedroom.

Got 2 boxes one for each room.

One box went bad so i had to get another to replace the bad one.

The box they sent me was dialed into 3 extra pay stations, which i did not order.

I let it go for the first month to see if i would get charged extra, still nothing.

Weird that one box only gets HBO and the other has extra pay channels, maybe they will catch up with me.

I thought they were all programed together, but obviously not.

I am not sure that the Vietnam War had a lot to do with a some of the events that happened in the sixties and early seventies.

It was just a changing time that the Vietnam War was part of.

Longer hair, mini skirts, wild times etc.

Each era brings something different and something different for each generation to reflect on.

Although none have as much to reflect on as the sixties and seventies [Smile]

I have seen about four episodes. I think Band of Brothers is better though. Band of Brothers was amazing.

I did not think the series Pacific was that good.

For some reason it was hard to follow if you don't get in on the beginning.

The combat scenes seem like they were designed to try and create a lot of blood and glory, but made it hard to follow the main characters.

If you come in and just try and watch a episode or two, could be tough to put much together other than it's a war movie.

I like Army Wives much better and their women cast excels.
