Above may get you up to 2 coupons for a converter box. I have Satalite and when it goes down the old TV uses an antena so I am getting a box. The prices are coming down on the boxes to where they are free with the coupons.

i liked satelite TV better, but the internet is great on cable.
I lived in that part of the country for years. I promise, lightning is rare there in comparison to here.
I haven't used it in years, but I still have a tv antenna on the roof, maybe 40 feet off the ground. Been there for almost 60 years and has never pulled in any lightning. Of course, it has always had competition from tv antennas on every house in the neighborhood (that may be changing as one after another house takes down their antenna) and from the power lines and telephone lines. It's the damned power lines that attract the lightning. Over the years, I'd bet they have pulled in dozens and dozens of strikes per year, while none have gotten anyones TV antenna. (Back years ago, a few blocks away, lightening did hit a window air conditioner several blocks away. I was talking to them on the phone when it struck.)
Once upon a time, in your neck of the woods, about every house that had any variety of electricity had a tv antenna. The thing to do is run a wire to a ground, so that they do indeed act as a lightning rod, Ben's best invention. That Antenna won't work right if there is no ground, by the way.
I no longer have cable tv. I do have Dish, which is cheaper by a long shot and shows up in your house as digital already.
My internet comes via the telephone lines now, DSL, which I prefer to the cable, which in turn, beats the devil out of dial-up.

Yep, they will come down because of the financial mess......and there are fools out there that will buy a digital and "toss" their old giant screen TVs.
