Missles near Poland, a re-birth of their military, the invasion of Georgia. I doubt Obama knows how to act tough with Russia. McCain would have been best on that.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian President Dmitry Medvedev could resign from his post in 2009 to pave the way for Vladimir Putin to return to the Kremlin, Vedomosti newspaper reported on Thursday, citing an unidentified source close to the Kremlin.

Medvedev Wednesday proposed increasing the presidential term to six years from four years, a step the newspaper said was part of a plan drawn up by Vladislav Surkov, who serves as Medvedev's first deputy chief of staff.

Under the plan, Medvedev could implement changes to the constitution and unpopular social reforms "so that Putin could return to the Kremlin for a longer period," the newspaper said.

"Under this scenario Medvedev could resign early citing changes to the constitution and then presidential elections could take place in 2009," the newspaper said, citing the unidentified source close to the Kremlinl.

The paper said Putin, who is currently prime minister, could then rule for two six year terms, so from 2009 to 2021. The paper cited Putin's spokesman as saying he saw no reason for Putin to return to power in 2009.

Investors, already jittery over the impact of the financial crisis on Russia's economic boom, are trying to work out who is really in charge of Russia, the biggest question for those seeking to ascertain political risk.

They are seeking any details on how the current set up -- with Medvedev as president and Putin as prime minister -- could change. During Medvedev's speech Wednesday the Russian stock market erased most of the gains it made earlier in the day.

Yep! Nothing says experience and being battle tested like starting WW3.

I don't believe that at all. That's why you elect leaders who are not warmongers. With Obama being elected, as opposed to McCain, the probability of WW3 dropped dramatically.

The only way to stop a WW3 is to have complete global control by the UN with a standing UN Army, identification chips implanted in the citizens, possible mind control, thought police, etc. It would be by an iron fist, and global obedience camps.

Even then rebel factions would still be a problem.

You would be surprised how many military members support Obama. However, the senior enlisted and officer types support McCain, and always supported Bush blindly. They are trained that way especially the officers.

What is scary are the implantable chips they are going to be putting into soldiers for identification. Once that is done they will look for successful reviews to begin a civilian application. Trust me, the DOD already provided a university the grant money for development. The chip implanted in the soldiers provides real time data to commanders. If the soldier is killed the chip can instantly report to the higher commands who where and why. It contains all sorts of personal information and vital signs.

Also, the chip is powered by the bodys own electric current and is the size of a grain of rice supposedly.

Obama would love to have a population control with these chips one day...I could just feel it when he gave his berlin speech about "the only way"

I just hope Obama returns the trust. He's overseeing a congress ready to gut the defense budget.
Even if we stop all the operations today we'd need atleast two years to build back up what we used.

I can see the chip thing being introduced in children as part of keep the children safe movement.
