What will happen with another package?

Nothin' like digging our defecit hole even deeper.

Anyone have any data on whether or not the last stimulus package helped folks or hurt folks?

Did most folks pay off debts? Or just spend, spend, spend with the last package?

I'm leaning towards the latter.

I am against another stimulus package for the good of the nation.

More folks are learning to leech off the government daily, which weighs heavily on the hard-working, honest, tax-payer.

Our government was originally set-up for hard-working, honest folks looking to better themselves honestly.

With less folks like this in the country, and the amount of leeches growing daily, our government can not succeed. It is failing. How can it be fixed?

Less folks paying taxes, more people collecting.

The original plan benefited the market temporarily, just as another one will.

I was not for the first one, and am against this one as well.

Some will use the money to pay debts, but the majority more than likely will not.

Doesn't matter what they do with it.
The fact is we cannot afford it.
Here's a new idea
Government should spend less...
Like 75% less.
Seems as though everytime revenue drops because we can't afford to pay the government what it demands... They demand more.
It will never end so there is no use in wishing for it.
The intent.. and yes at this point it IS intent.. is to cause a complete economic failure in this country.

That's entirely possible. With a BIG crisis, comes the opportunity for the government to institute drastic changes - like Hitler did in the late 30's and early 40's. In this case, I think the few extremely powerful people are wanting to institute global socialism.

why would wealthy people want socialism?

Socialism refers to any of various economic and political concepts of state or collective (i.e. public) ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods and services, some of which have been developed into more or less highly articulated theories and/or praxis. [1] In a Marxist or labor-movement definition of the term, socialism is a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done with the goal of creating a socio-economic system in which property and the distribution of wealth are subject to control by the community.

The wealthy like socialism because if freedom is allowed and economic stability is maimtained you have a fat bunch of citizens who will never cause you any trouble. An other words the class conflict is not 100% taken out of life but close to it.

An employed idiot with enough to eat, roof over his or her head and free to follow his are her digusting pleasures usually don't cause any problems

C'mon Glass, you know better than that. A few very powerful people want socialism because they will control the system. Every major socialist government has been controlled by a few extremely rich and powerful people.

They have control in America but they run a very careful tightrope act.

Now they run the risk of revolution but they buy that risk because of the more profit they make.

They could throw a little sop the way of working people and have another 200 years of unchallgened rule. But that would cost money.

You might need to go to a re-education camp comrade!

TM - I know you were joking, but there are MILLIONS who have done exactly that. With Osama Obama in charge, it will only get worse. I'd vote for kicking all the bums out and starting over.

You didn't pull, that outta the air, it stinks of a different origin.

What on Earth makes up your diet that so much misinformation tracks unfilterred through your bowel? May I suggest you ingest much less from Fat Rush the Doper and do something to allow better job of digesting so called "data" that you get from Fox.

Hehe... WB Bdgee.

Staying on topic...

I don't know about everyone else, but I took my stimulus check and invested it in Gold and Silver, which is exactly what I plan to do if Mr. Obama issues another one.

Honestly, I think the gov. is just making the whole inflation problem worse with these "Stimulus Packages", but since I can't stop the gov. from doing it, I just do the opposite of what they want, and instead of spending it, I'll invest some to protect from inflation and I'll put the rest away in savings.

Just my 2 cents of course.

But, it ain't what I ever said. Fascist goose step, but not all parroting right wingers. Only parrot I ever saw that looked to be goose stepping did so because of a crippled leg. It should be "party line parrot" (some of them don't march to the extreme of fascism, just the lies of party propaganda....there are also anti-party line parrots whose rhetoric is as damaging and insulting....Joe Lieberman, for example) But I will let that go this time, just to satisfy your hunger for being labeled.

Honestly, I think the gov. is just making the whole inflation problem worse with these "Stimulus Packages",

i agree, and i beleive the govt is doing this on purpose..

even tho they officially say that they support a strong dollar?

it makes no sense to have one...

now, before you call me unpatriotic consider:

1) a weak dollar forces our production for export to be more affordable overseas..

2) China is NOT a capitalist society. all this propaganda about them being capitalistic is just nonesense. they refuse to "free float" their economy and so we have little choice but to dilute their trade surplus..

eventually they will be unable to subsidize all their industries

3) the only way to deal with the Govt budget deficits is to keep inflation high... there is no other alternative.

i know all the arguments about "pork spending" and i am not defending it, but the economy is built on it, and you can't just change that overnight...

the US Govt spending is actually a bigger part of GDP than industrial production...

wanna fix that? drop the dollar so we can export goods...

I'm not a glutton for being labeled, but I do miss our blood boiling exchanges... It's been so quiet around here lately.

On the other hand, I do think we had some good discussions regarding the environment and in my "Bullies and the Bullied" thread, so keep in mind I am teasing you about your "Parrot" line and don't be such a stranger to Allstocks.

Well first off, I wouldn't consider calling you "unpatriotic" at all for your comments, so I'm not sure why you mentioned that BUT...

I agree with all your points 100%.

A weak dollar will help US companies, as will a high price of oil as a result of inflation. Higher shipping costs makes domestic products more competitive.

China IMO, is quasi-capitalist. They don't want a capitalist society, they want a capitalist economy with a communist government that can fleece, fleece, fleece to promote their twisted, freedom destroying agenda. However, on a side note, I do think that giving the Chinese people a taste of freedom (albeit only economic freedom) will eventually backfire in the long run.

I do agree that "Pork Barrel" spending, (as it exists today), needs to end, but I also see your point about how the economy would tank if it were to stop. Perhaps the solution is to be smarter and more efficent with what "Pork Barrel" spending goes to.

In principal, there is nothing wrong with trying to bring Federal money back to your state, just don't be greedy or stupid about what you do with the money once you get it.

i beleive we could wean ourselves of the pork, by simply refusing to increase it from here on out...

drastic cuts would be damaging if not crippling,

also? we could determine to not replace 1/2 of 1% to as much as 5% of retiring Civil service employees depending on the service. some we cannot do without, and some are already a total waste, so why replace them?

I cant remember any president who did exactly what they said once they got into office. Its so messed up. Power corrupts.
