The UAE is actively trying to become a tourist destination. Why can't they have an amusement park? Don't muslims like to have fun? They aren't all terrorists, you know. Some of them might like to spend a day on a roller coaster and even eat at McDonalds. People are basically the same everywhere.

Clearly, I have struck a nerve. What exactly is your problem? Do you live on government handouts? Are you on welfare? Do you consider yourself a victim? now..? I gotta go to work!..yes, PMS,, I do work..and it is hard, physical labor...been doin it for 30 yrs..almost as long as you've been alive!..I also play golf,sax, and around as much as possible...own a house,, raised a son(on my own)..and have a diverse range of freinds...

and, Glass --I disagee that most adults cant get out of poverty. That statement in itself is defeatist.
All can get out of poverty if they got the will cause a way can be found....

Poverty is as a start at the official fderal level but after that it fluctuates...
Poverty is when you dont have most basic needs met? It is not a joke but handouts are not the answer....We can help them to fish but they have to want to...
Folks are responsible for themselves... Depends, what your values are,,if ya want handouts, you wull be stuck there...
if you have a strong work ethic, you will get out...
I am for opportunty for all, though.. Yes, the cards are not dealt fairly, but you can cry or you can do something about it like work..and get the training and education...
At the core, is a person's attitude and values...
And , those thast are for handouts, let them hand out...lol
I am for helping folks cause we all need help at times...but not lifelong help...

yes, and oil is just what we here in the US are seeing. food issues in other parts of the world are much worse right now than our oil issues.
i'm not really talking about lazy people TM. there are plenty of lazy people. there are even plenty of lazy people that aren't in poverty.
i'm talking about people that are just not functioning. and it is my opinion from my life experiences that most homeless people are non-functional. people living AT the poverty level are actually functioning to their capacity for the most part. they may be able to get some specailised training that would help them make an extra 10% because they would be more valuable to the employers but they are already working if they are living at the poverty level. they do need some assistance to make up what their employers don't meet. WalMart is a great example of this. nobody can live working full time on 8$ an hour, that's sub-poverty level. and the fact is that most states pay walmart employees large amounts of health benefits. thats the true state of working poverty. a 40 yr old working at this level is not likely to be able to be retained to perform at a level that takes them beyond the poverty level. a 20 year old? yes, but not a 40 yr old.

Part of the problem is with our definition of poverty. Someone that lives in one of my Section 8 houses; has a cellphone; and a big screen TV is NOT living in real poverty! Only in the United States would making $20,000 per year be considered poverty. It's ridiculous.

Totally irrelevant, because those on government handouts usually do NOT work and don't have or need cars. In fact, very few of my low income tenants on government subsidies work. Many of them sit home, drinking beer and watching their big screen tv or playing video poker on their computer all day. That is the reality that I see on a daily basis.
They aren't disabled or mentally ill, they've just been made lazy by the government. The lack in drive and are content to take a government handout instead of working. It's that simple!

nonesense. once again you are spreading myths.
a six-pack of cheap beer is 4$- all day beer drinking alone is a 12$ /day habit. that's already getting past the cash point of living on govt subsidies since there's much more costs involved. you are once again simply not being honest.
