A trivia thread might be kinda cool. I will throw out one thats not so much trivia as it is mathmatical.

If an analog clock (the kind with hands) loses one second for every minute that goes by, it loses an additional minute for every hour that goes by, and loses an hour for every second that goes by, and you set it correctly at noon today, what will the clock read at noon tomorrow?

Good thread, CJ.

That clock will read wrong, obviously.

A more interesting clock question is this, which also assumes a clock with hands. Which clock is more accurate, one that keeps perfect time but is one minute behind the actual time or one that doesn't run at all?

The one that doesn't run at all. It's correct twice a day.

no answer in one day so heres the answer
The correct answer was 11:12.
If the clock loses one second for every minute that goes by, then the clock will show 59 seconds have gone by at the end of every minute. This means that after 60 minutes of real time, the clock will show that 3,540 seconds have gone by, or 59 minutes. Except that in addition to losing one second every minute, it loses an additional minute every hour, meaning that each hour of real time shows as 58 minutes on the minute hand of the clock. This means that after 24 hours, the clock will have lost 48 minutes.

Now, since the clock loses one hour every second, the hour hand must be spinning backward very quickly! But, after 24 hours, or 1,440 minutes, or 86,400 seconds, the clock will have lost 86,400 hours. Since it will be in the same place it began if this amount is a multiple of 12 (it is, since 7,200 * 12 = 86,400), the hour hand will be up at the 12, except that since THE CLOCK loses the aforementioned amounts of time (not just each individual hand), the hour hand will actually have lagged back four minute marks to be between the 11 and the 12. The minute hand will be at two minute marks past the 2, and the second hand will be straight up at the 12, having lost an even 60 seconds every 60 minutes, and having passed through 59 cycles of 60 every 60 minutes. Therefore, the clock will read 11:12 (and if it read AM or PM, it actually would read AM, since the parity changes 3,600 times - an even number - leaving the AM or PM value unchanged).

Greetings:

Here's a trivia question about the notorious gangster, Pretty Boy Floyd.

What person may have played the biggest role in in putting the finger on Pretty Boy Floyd and getting him captured?

Answer:

The Munchkin Man's Mama

This is a true story.

Honest.

The Munchkin Man's mother was working at a rural gas station near Parkersburg, West Virginia.

One day a big car pulled up with a bunch of men dressed in fancy suits. They asked for a fill up and a case of sodas.

The Munchkin Man's mother pumped their gas and got their sodas. The men in the car paid for the gas and the sodas and left.

The Munchkin Man's mother said the men were good looking, very polite, and behaved like perfect gentlemen.

About an hour later, a state trooper pulled up at the gas station.

He asked the Munchkin Man's mother if she had seen a big car full of men. He gave her a full description of the car and the number of men inside.

The Munchkin Man's mother told the state trooper that a car of that description and full of men had stopped there about an hour ago.

There was a fork in the road in the direction where the car was headed after leaving the gas station.

"Which way did they go?" asked the state trooper.

The Munchkin Man's mother pointed at the fork in the road they took.

"They went that-a-way", she said.

"Thanks!" said the state trooper. "That was Pretty Boy Floyd and his gang!"

One day later, Pretty Boy Floyd was shot and killed in Ohio.

Now you know the true story behind the capture of Pretty Boy Floyd.

You heard it from the Munchkin Man first.

Happy Holidays!

Munchkin Man

Do you really believe the Munchkin Man could have made something like this up?

If so, you are giving the Munchkin Man credit for more imagination than he actually has.
