what does a recession really mean?

for the poor? not a thing.

for the lower middle class? will they "super-size" at Mickey D's or not?

for the middle middle class? will they have to switch back to Budweiser from Sam Adams or not..

for the upper middle class? will they replace their 40 footer boat/motor home next year or in three years...


for your broker? whether their year-end bonus has 5 figures or 7....

recession? The dow is pushing 14k again..... and crude is 80+ and people cant find work.... [Confused]

Maybe, in translation?... people are losing their jobs to companys streamlining and saving winfalls by the replacements of people with computers and machines/robotics. Thus leading to prettier spread sheets.... I have no clue [Confused]

I feel the same way as you Rimasco.
The part i don't understand is that there is more and more bad news that keeps surfacing and yet the dow is like the everyready battery it keeps going and going and going. [Confused]

If the stock market is an indicator of the how the economy is doing we should be doing great.

How long can the big boys hold up the market? It appears forever.

Yep...and all the while they keep sending our jobs overseas...I have been a member of the UAW for 30+ years and I could see this coming 5 years ago...you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out...and don't think for one minute that it can't happen to you...it's just a matter of time.

plenty of jobs overseas in india , china, etc...and plenty here for the foreeigners...

look at it..most Indians, some chinese, etc. but americans..minority..yet many usa cant get jobs...
others will work for lesss...so usa cant compete with cheap labor....those from india are desperate and will work fer anything...
interesting why the werld comes here...why cant the freaking world go to the muslim nations?

in Info tech, usa is the minority in most firms i work for...i consult...

why cant the world go elsewhere? all come here...brain drain, then cheap labor...mexicans, alll...
