"The head of an al Qaeda-led group in
Iraq said the country has become a "university of terrorism" producing highly qualified warriors since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion."

"From the military point of view, one of the (enemy) devils was right in saying that if
Afghanistan was a school of terror, then Iraq is a university of terrorism," said the leader of the group set up last year by al Qaeda's Iraq wing and some other Sunni groups."

"The fear of the American Marines has disappeared from the hearts of the people of the world, as the mujahideen have become thousands from the few they were after the fall of the infidel Baath regime," Baghdadi said. "These are just some of the achievements of four years of jihad."

My goodness, but Georgie has done such a marvelous thing in finding a way for us to have an endless but inconquerable enemy and in creating a training ground it did not have until he invaded Iraq.

It is most Orwellian, indeed!

Gosh, don't we have every reason to admire his wise and winning strategy.

Only rightwing wat mongers ever believed that drivel or uased it as an excuse to violate international law.

We made Iraq be our own back yard and, had we had the maturity to not invade Iraq, there quite likely would never have been another attack in our own back yard in the U.S.

Now, having provided the organized terrorist groups a training ground in Iraq, such an event is almost guaranteed.

rumsfeld admitted (by default) that the Iraq war was creating more terrorists..

i'm not sure how the logic progresses on the statement Better there, than in our own backyard, IMO

it really is nonesense: all they have to do is get to Mexico, and walk in... that's gonna cost less than 10 grand$..

as for saying we haven't been hit again? here's the harsh reality,
terrorists and guerrilla fighters NEVER take every opportunity to attack. conventional warriors NEVER miss a chance to attack. that's just fundamental warfare. guerrilla warriors thrive on surprise, they fight only where they can quickly retreat with minimal losses. terrorisms is most effective if you DON'T attack constantly because then it becomes too easy to follow the forensic trail back to the leaders. terrorism by it's very nature has to be applied with a seemingly random pattern. The Brits have finally officially realised that just calling the "War on Terror" is a big mistake.

International
Bush's 'war on terror' phrase helps terrorists

United States President George Bush's "war on terror" rhetoric has strengthened terrorist groups by helping them to create a shared identity, the British Development Secretary, Hilary Benn, warned on Monday.

The Foreign Office reportedly asked politicians and diplomats to drop the phrase last year. But Benn's open criticism surprised many observers, and critics suggested he might be attempting to woo grassroots Labour activists in his bid for the party's deputy leadership -- an accusation he later described as "unworthy".

"In the UK, we do not use the phrase 'war on terror' because we can't win by military means alone, and because this isn't us against one organised enemy with a clear identity and ...

some of US have been saying this for years, and just keep getting ridiculed and called unPatriotic.. [Roll Eyes]

Yup.

Know who is the "us" is and know who does the ridicule and calls the "us" unpatriotic.

One wonders when some of them will wake up to reality and see who isn't being patriotic with their assertions and name calling.

(Hey, MM, did ya note that use of the 3rd person. Is is artistic to you? Does it make one look like Dickens?)

Don't worry - Hillary or Obama is coming in early 2009.

And when one of them pulls all of our troops out of Iraq, the terrorist will migrate to our homeland and most likely will slaughter innocent American men, women, & children. And if/when they do, all of you liberal democrats will be saying "Oh God, what have we done? We should of stayed in Iraq and fought the terrorists there. We were so WRONG!"

let me translate what bdgee is saying:

YES! The terrorists are winning! Bush looks more and more like a fool and I've been telling you all along that there was no reason to invade Iraq. Won't be much longer before we get a democrat in office to destroy the efforts of thousands of soldiers and bring the war back to U.S. soil. Woo hoo! My hatred of Bush is far more important than anything I do in my life and the more Bush is looked upon as a failure and terrible president, the better I feel about myself.

stocktrader2006,

yea except the dems will never admit that they were wrong. Just like Bill Clinton will never admit that he should have taken out Bin Laden when he had the chance.

Actually, you are more of a fool than a translator.

Your hatred of the Clintons is not mirrored by a similar hatred of your fuhrer, dubya, by those not conditioned to preach that jerk's foul trash.

Dubya lied to start a war to disrupt the investigations into the stolen 200 Florida vote.

That isn't hatred, it is fact.

What I hate is foolish stupidity.

No doubt, the date of my oath to the Marine Corps predates that of your birth.

Grow up.

Disapproval of the disgusting attack on the Constitution and almost every other thing American by the current Administration is not unpatriotic and is not confined to non-military persons. The assault on the Constitution and America by the Party is being carried out by a passel of lying draft dodgers that populate the Aministration.

"My Country right or wrong" has morphed into "My Party right or wrong".

The whole thing was sick in the first stage; it is devistating to freedom in this new version.

i am neither a liberal nor a suporter of endless warfare..

war properly run is over very quickly... (see WW2) we HAD the power to do just that... your boy dubya didn't execute a winning plan..period... i suggest you read up on a company called Blackwater...

i once ran with that crowd... as a matter of fact? i regularly target shot with a lot of those guys in my backyard, of which about a quarter mile was the river that runs out of the Great Dismal swamp, and yes, that river is darker than iced tea... there isn't anything patriotic going on here... it's about endless contracts...

in case you haven't noticed? our powder is getting damp...

I was thinking the same thing. as soon as he said that thing about bush lying to go into war to disrupt an investigation from the 2000 election, I laughed and then started to write a response and then decided not to waste my time.

I hate to say it...but I said to my (common law)wife yesterday that I wouldnt be surprised if this shooter was on some form of antidepressant...

News reports also said that he may have been taking medication for depression, that he was becoming increasingly violent and erratic, and that he left a note in his dorm in which he railed against "rich kids," "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans" on campus.

he also apparently had started a fire in his dorm?

i have a relative who was seriously attacked on a NC campus in the last couple years by another student... the attacker was booted from the marines... we asked alot of hard questions about how this person got accepted at the University... he lived in her dorm....

that some of americans actually believe this statement is devastating..
you dont think that terrorists can come here because we are over there?..whats to stop them..?you dont think that terrorists are here, and have been, for years//..waiting ..?maybe that student was a terrorist,,maybe not...but could he of been??..certainly..to say what you said,(and bush said) is totally ignorant of reality..
it makes me sad, ashamed, and disgusted to think that my fellow americans (even tho a small percentage) still accept that drivel...

Jordanreed,

I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said, with the exception that I would replace "shame" with "embarrassment".

The only shame I feel for the bigoted ignorance of those Americans that foster that appeal to abject fear is a shame that our education systems have allowed such a slip-shod excuse for logic to prevail and endure.
