Greetings To All:

As some of you may already know, the Munchkin Man is trying to adopt a healthier eating life style.

That's because the Munchkin Man's weight and cholesterol counts are way too high.

Somebody told the Munchkin Man that a breakfast of oatmeal and prunes works very well in helping to wash out the "bad" cholesterol.

There's only one problem.

The Munchkin Man doesn't like prunes.

They look nasty.

They smell nasty.

They taste nasty.

But if they will help the Munchkin Man lower his cholesterol, the Munchkin Man is willing to hold his nose and try to get them down.

Now then.

Somebody please advise the Munchkin Man.

What kind of prunes should the Munchkin Man buy?

Should the Munchkin Man buy the kind that come in a jar with all that icky and smelly black liquid?

Or should the Munchkin Man buy the kind that come dried with no juice and in a plastic bag?

Sunsweet is one such brand name the Munchkin Man has seen in his local grocery store.

Any and all comments and suggestions will be thankfully appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Good luck to all.

Best Wishes,

Munchkin Man

Most kinds of naturally dried fruit should perform about as well, with the restriction pointed out by glass...: avoid any packaged with preseratives.

Raisins are not a lot different from plumbs.

It is way more expensive.....about 10 times so.....but so call "Irish oatmeal" would serve the purpose way way better than the more common varieties (its the style and lack of refinement, not that it actually comes from Ireland that gives the name), though it is more of a pain to prepare. Once cooked, I like it better.

one of my mother's favorite jokes:

Guys in a monastery couldn't talk, unless life-or-death situation. Years pass in silence, until finally it's decided that on New Year's Day, one member gets to say something at breakfast, which is always oatmeal... The big day arrives, and the chosen one looks around, smiling at everybody, and says, "This oatmeal is *really* good." Stunned...everybody raises eyebrows and continues eating...

Next year, the big day rolls around, and the chosen one says, "Not me...I think it's too runny."

The year lumbers along, but finally it's the third guy's turn, and he's obviously in deep thought, contemplating his choice. Finally he drops his spoon, splashing into the bowl:

"I can't believe you guys get a chance to say something, and all we're talking about is oatmeal."

I believe the recommended dosage of prunes to help reduce cholesterol is 25 a day, might vary some depending on the person. [Smile]

25 prunes a day would CERTAINLY bring about weight loss and a lot more normally healthy things. So will the plague and via the same mechanism.

since today is the first nice day we here in connecticut have had nice weather, everyone is in a great mood. Even I'm in a great mood for no particular reason. That being said I would like to wish bdgee a great weekend and just forget any disagreements we've had until monday morning at least.

glassman thinks that anybody who spends too much time doing something they don't enjoy for no particular reason needs to get help. glassman enjoys arguing with people that are good at arguing valid issues. glassman learns from others by challenging them to think, and do real research.

Glass...,

Didn't you mean "valid issues", in quotes, rather than simply valid issues, which might be intended to be concerned with "logically sound" rather that "monitarilly sound"?

I would agree, in that case, that we may be close to finding a meaning for the term. Other wise, valid issue may be just another variable religiously apportioned postulate, defined only in the context of that specific system wherein it is assumed as an undefined variable or entity.
