School Guards Break Child's Arm And Arrest Her For Dropping Cake
Pandemic of police and security violence continues unabated

Friday, Sept 28, 2007
School security guards in Palmdale, CA have been caught on camera assaulting a 16-year-old girl and breaking her arm after she spilled some cake during lunch and left some crumbs on the floor after cleaning it up.

The incident occurred last week at Knight High School in Palmdale and was caught on a cell phone camera by another pupil who was then also assaulted by the security guards.

Watch video of the incident here and here.

The girl, Pleajhai Mervin, told Fox News LA that she was bumped while queuing for lunch and dropped the cake. After being ordered to clean it up and then re-clean the spot three times, she attempted to leave the area out of embarrassment but was jumped on by security who forced her onto a table, breaking her wrist in the process.

Pleajhai also says that the security guard in the picture yelled "hold still nappy-head" at her, which at the time she did not know was a racist comment.

In an even more shocking development the security guards later had the mother of the girl arrested after she sought out an attorney and demanded that the guard be arrested, telling her that if she wanted the guard detained then she herself would also be charged with battery after she allegedly pushed the guard and an assistant principal of the school. She has also been suspended from her job at another school in the county.

The school expelled Pleajhai for five days before then having her arrested for battery and for littering (the dropping of the cake). Then they had the pupil who captured the video arrested along with his sister who was merely present at the scene.

A walkout is planned for this morning by some students, after which the protesters will call for the firing of the main security guard involved.

The incident serves as another unbelievable case in the wave of police brutality sweeping the country. In recent days we have covered multiple incidents of this nature and have compiled them into a page which will no doubt be added to in the months to come.

Commentators have linked the increased cases of brutality with a post 9/11 mentality in America where civil liberties have been totally diminished and the anointed "authorities" simply consider themselves above the law.

Former Reagan government official Paul Craig Roberts, for instance, has succinctly described the mentality as having turned "an epidemic of US police brutality into a pandemic".

The media reports linked above clearly sympathize with the girl and her mother but only because the girl "fully complied with the guards' orders".

What on earth have things come to when children are being physically assaulted and arrested in schools by huge fat thugs 5 times their size for "not complying with orders"?

Police and security officials are being trained that it's OK to beat, torture and taser anyone should they not answer their questions or comply with their every order.

The "security" and well being of citizens is no longer the concern of these moronic hired beefbrains who revel in their false positions of power. Ask yourself, why is the security guy pictured above wearing shades indoors? Because it is part of the gang mentality of these idiots who think its cool to put the fear of life into small kids and then break their bones if they fail to cower like mice when picked upon.

It IS a crisis we need to deal with NOW.
This idiotic mentality that the government has the right to stop us for any reason at anytime has to go NOW.
This mindless notion that we must be submissive at all times has to end NOW.
...
And I don't see it stopping anytime soon.
This nation has lost it's edge.
We've lost what made us great.
We've become the very thing we vowed to never be.

Cop placed at the school or school system hired security?

My bet is private security. When you are paying $9 an hour you don't get quality representation. I have had to work with my share of rent-a-cops who thought of themselves as mercenaries. Worse than nothing...especially when given a role of authority.

Keep em behind the cameras and they'll screw around but won't hurt anyone. Put em in authority and they can't help trying to assert their "power."

My question is where were the teachers/cafeteria workers that were also overseeing the period? If anyone had bothered to step in even for a moment the focus would have been displaced and this wouldn't have happened.

High School security guards in Palmdale CA have reacted viciously to an incident that was caught on camera last week, creating false charges against school children to detract from their own excessive actions which have since hit the headlines.

The incident at Knight High School, which received national attention yesterday, blew up after security thugs assaulted a 16 year old school girl and broke her arm after she dropped some cake and did not clean it up to the satisfaction of the guards.

The Guards then viciously assaulted a 16 year old boy who captured video of the incident on his cell phone. After the guards noticed the boy was filming them they forcefully tackled him, pushing his head into the ground and twisting his arm behind his back. The boy's sister attempted to intervene as other students began to film on phones.

After initially letting the boy go, the security guards had him and his sister arrested a day later on assault charges after angry parents hit out and demanded the firing of the guards in question. They also had the girl who dropped the cake arrested for littering and arrested the girl's mother on a separate fabricated assault charge.

While the mainstream media has played down this terrible incident merely referring to it as a "scuffle", and Knight High School has refused to condemn the actions of the guards, public reaction has been heated.

This incident represents another example of how police and security personnel believe they can simply invent charges against innocent people they clash with. Two weeks ago we featured a story on a motorist who caught a St. George Police Sergeant named Kenline stating that he had the power to invent charges that would put the man behind bars.

don't they have janitors to clean up messes?

i can never recall anyone being forced to clean up a mess when i was in school. i'm not saying kids shouldn't clean up messes they make, but the security guard doesn't seem to me to be the one to decide this...

I'm sure she'll be awarded some money but the problem isn't that she was wronged.
The problem is the psychological conditioning that has happened to every kid who watched the event.
People are being trained to fear the cops.
To be submissive at all times.
Soon it will be grounds for arrest to just look at a cop.
I've yet to hear anything about this cop being arrested and held in jail pending trial...
That's all one needs to know.

Yonkers mayor shouted off stage at police brutality forum
By REBECCA BAKER
THE JOURNAL NEWS

(Original publication: September 30, 2007)

YONKERS -A community forum to discuss allegations of police brutality yesterday turned briefly into a shoutfest aimed at Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone.

When Amicone told the angry, frustrated crowd that Yonkers does not ignore police brutality complaints, they didn't buy it.

"Mr. Amicone," said Antonn Briley, a Yonkers barbershop owner, "we don't believe you."

The U.S. Department of Justice has launched an investigation into accusations of excessive force and discriminatory policing by Yonkers police. Meanwhile, at least eight cases containing similar allegations are pending against the city in federal and state courts.

Senate Fails on Habeas Corpus

Wed Sep 19, 2:23 PM ET

The Nation -- Today the US Senate fell four votes short of restoring Habeas Corpus, the fundamental constitutional right of individuals to challenge government detention, which the Republican Congress revoked in last year's Military Commissions Act. Fifty-six senators supported a procedural move to tie the Habeas provision to legislation authorizing defense spending--a step that requires sixty votes.

[Eek!] Woman Died at Airport on Way to Rehab

By CHRIS KAHN – 2 hours ago

PHOENIX (AP) — A woman who died after being handcuffed and detained at the Phoenix airport was on her way to an alcohol rehabilitation program in Tucson, her family's lawyer said Monday.

Carol Anne Gotbaum, 45, became irate Friday when she was late for a flight and a gate crew didn't let her on the plane. Officers handcuffed her behind her back and took her to a holding room, where she kept screaming, authorities said.

Police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill said officers checked on Gotbaum regularly while she was detained. During one of the checks, officers found Gotbaum unconscious with her hands "pressed against her neck area," Hill said.

Attorney Michael Manning, who was hired by Gotbaum's family to monitor the police investigation, said it doesn't seem possible she could have killed herself.

"It doesn't make any sense," he said. "She was handcuffed behind her back and shackled to a table. It doesn't make sense that she could have physically managed to strangle herself."

Manning plans to send a representative to watch the county medical examiner's autopsy of Gotbaum's body Tuesday. He'll conduct his own inquiry as to whether police followed proper procedure.

Tasered Ohio Woman Describes Agony

NEW YORK, Sept. 25, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(CBS/AP) "Terrified. Crawling for my life. I really did not think I was going to make it," Heidi Gill said on CBS News' The Early Show, referring to being Tasered by a police officer earlier this month.

Ohio police are investigating an officer's use of a stun gun on the handcuffed woman, who fell to the pavement and was knocked unconscious when the officer shocked her.

Video from Patrolman Richard Kovach's cruiser shows him jolting the screaming woman with a Taser electronic device both before and after she was handcuffed.

"The pain just wouldn't stop, it was so much, so much. I just didn't think it was going to stop ever," Gill, 38, told The Early Show co-anchor Hannah Storm Tuesday.

She was arrested Sept. 2 on charges of falsification, assault, resisting arrest, criminal damaging and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, officials said. She has pleaded not guilty. A hearing is set for Oct. 25 in Warren Municipal Court.

"There's 32 burn circles on my pants alone," Gill said.

"It's just a traumatic thing that I relive every day. At night, I see it. It's just never-ending," Gill said on The Early Show. "The worst thing is the impaired vision. I see two of you right now, sometimes three."

It's also affecting the single mother's ability to take care of her 4-year-old son.

"I can't explain to him why I can't drive. I can't pick him up. I can't play ball with him because I can't see the ball coming towards me. I can't play chase because I get dizzy," Gill said. "I don't know how to deal with what I'm feeling."

Gill had been ordered out of a bar.

"We were at a wedding so we did have some drinks. We went to the bar afterwards with a lot of people from the wedding. We did have drinks and we were dancing, having a really good time," Gill recalled. "The altercation started, you know, some words were exchanged and they asked me to leave and I was fine with that.

"I was leaving the bar, was walking out" when she first encountered Kovach. She kept heading to the parking lot.

A friend had said he would drive her home, and she should wait in his car. She may have gotten into the wrong car.

"I'm just sitting there relaxing, waiting for my ride home and the door swung open, 'Get out of the car.' I said no. I was scared at how abrupt it was," Gill said.

"And then the next thing I know I was feeling this electrocution. I couldn't move let alone get out of the car but I was trying," she said.

Kovach's report said he made several attempts to use the Taser on Gill, but it misfired repeatedly. Once inside the cruiser, his report said, she kicked at a rear window and tried to climb into the front seat, ignoring his commands to stop, the police report said.

"I'm locked in the back of a car of someone that just abused me," Gill said Tuesday, admitting that she was kicking at the police car window.

"I deployed a second Taser cartridge into her and the violent turbulent action stopped immediately," the report said. "I then requested a car with a cage for transport."

She was again stunned during an attempted transfer to the second car. She fell and was knocked unconscious, and an ambulance took her to a local hospital, the report said.

But attorney Mark Hanni says the videotape of the incident tells a different story.

"He Tases her in the back seat of the vehicle after she already calmed down. She had quit kicking at that point and was sitting upright and he started Tasing her," Hanni told Storm. Plus, "He kicked her while she was on the ground. This is just totally unacceptable behavior on the part of anyone, let alone a policeman."

Taser stun guns fire electrically charged darts that carry 50,000 volts for several seconds, temporarily immobilizing their targets. According to Taser International Inc., about 11,000 U.S. law enforcement agencies use Taser technology.

Taser use by police is getting national attention, after video surfaced on the Internet of police shocking a university student in Florida who persistently questioned Sen. John Kerry during a forum and refused to yield the microphone to others. University of Florida President Bernie Machen said the use of the Taser was "regretful." He requested a state probe of campus police actions and placed two officers on leave.

California sheriff's officials are defending their use of a Taser stun gun to subdue an autistic teenager who left a social services center where he was being treated.

"It was necessary," sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said in defense of the use of a Taser stun gun to subdue 15-year-old Taylor Karras.

He said the teen was running in and out of traffic and is lucky to be alive.

"If that were your son, would you want him Tased or hit by a car?" Amormino asked.

But his parents said they believed deputies overreacted.

In Warren, Ohio, Officer Kovach is on paid administrative leave, and the city of Warren is conducting an investigation. Attorney Hanni is calling for Department of Justice and Ohio attorney general investigations

"I don't want anyone else to ever go through this again," Gill said Tuesday on The Early Show.

Gill is hamming it up for TV.

32 burn marks on her pants?

"The pain just wouldn't stop, it was so much, so much. I just didn't think it was going to stop ever," Gill ???

I'm not saying Tasers are the end all and be all of pacification. And I'm not saying that cops are all upstanding individuals but come on...

You really want to reduce cop/security "power trips"? Have em wear camera/sound monitoring equipment on thier person like they do with the vehicles.

But remember, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If that application of monitoring is approved for security related activities it is only a matter of time before it is applied to other professions.

Andy, I'm not looking at this single incident when I say civil war.
I'm looking at the current trend and not seeing anything near a reversal in the making.
Schools are more closely resembling jails these days than educational institutions.
Couple this current incident with the current and ongoing trend from all levels of governments of reducing our freedoms and increasing our punishments.
You can.. or should be able to see that at some point we the people will revolt.

With the way teens are these days, is school resembling jails a bad thing? The way Children are raised these days is very nonchalantly. Parents will not raise their Children with any kind of decency. Hell yeah I would be pissed if my daughter got her arm broke at school by one of these so called security guards. I personally would have went and beat the shi* out the guy who did this. No it is not the girls fault. It sucks this happened, but I dont think the parents of this girl did enough after the fact. The would have a had a video on utube of me beating the hell out of this guy.

ya know, I do think it happens "quicker," nowadays--eg, my youngest has already distanced himself from kids that in my "era" would've been younger peers... younger, yes, so not as hep, lol, but still within the "belief set."

You guys need to go read the Constitution and find the part where it says cops have the right and the Christian duty to force you to do whatever they decide is best instead of trying to make out like you are smart enough to understand on your own. This is a nation founded on Christian principles like the Golden rule that came straight out of the New Testament.

Of course the police have the authority! Haven't you heard a word our Commander in Chief has said?
