looks to me like "homeland security" is a joke. Seems like the terrorists have found a 2000 mile loophole. I'm reminded of the saying "we're fighting them over there so we dont have to fight them here." Well i'm sorry to say but with the actions (or non-actions) of our government pretty soon it will be both. My hats off to you mister president, in your never ending attempt to keep wages low you pretty much are letting them "walk right in." Mind as well remove all security from the airports as well, the rats stopped coming in through cracks in the front because they found that the back wall of the house is missing.
of coarse this is all my opinion. discuss -turbo .. who else?

there is a cheaper and simpler LONG-TERM fix.....
it is so simple it's almost funny....
make hiring an illegal a felony with mandatory 30 days per person hired.... make BOTH the owner/CEO and whoever is in charge of the payroll culpable...
the illegals will stop coming to America the very next day, and we won't have to build a fence because there will be so few coming in that the terrorists who do will be easy to catch....
the jobs will get done....
who knows? might even see a big drop in welfare and other "liberal spending" programs

thats a good idea glass, and i read that something along those lines has been proposed but i'm thinking it wont come to be because the very same people who benifit from hiring illegals at below minimum wage are huge political contributors.
What is bush's excuse gonna be this time when they find out the terrorists walked into the US without a problem because he wouldnt provide the necessary tools to the agents who secure the border if your gonna secure the borders SECURE THE BORDERS ! not just certain parts of it. Its highly unlikely that other planes will be hijacked because of our beefed up security in airports, so do you think that terrorists are just gonna keep trying to hijack planes or do something where they have a higher possibility of being successful ?
A friend of mine had an elderly mother that got sick and her daughter who lived in pakistan decided to move to america to care for her. But because she only purchased a one way ticket and paid with cash she was pulled aside and questioned for hours by police and other agents, sounds like good work by homeland security right? Sure, so howcome this huge glaring problem with the southern border is not met with the same intense scrutiny?

i BET? that if you dig deep enough? you'll also find there is quite a bit of money being collected by the Mexican government somewhere in the flow of cash from the immigrants to back home...
i wonder how much money Wesern Union makes every year off wire transfers to Mexico?
i live in a certified government rural community... i recently noticed quite a few new Latinos are living in the area and shopping....the only Western Union is at one of the grocery stores i go to, and there are often lines at that register now....
this all started after WalMart began building their new SuperWalmart.....it'll be completed soon, and most of them will leave....
of course, if i say i'm not fond of walmart? someone will call me a commie pinko (right DQR? LOL)
i'm not against legal immigration... i do think there has been too much of that lately too tho...
immigrant grad students are very popular at the universities cuz they have to work more.... the screwy part about that? you'll find your tax dollars are paying for them to come here to compete against your kids... how do you like that?

You think you've seen an influx up there in the northern half of the state... come down here to the coast... MAN they are everywhere now. (post katrina) Stiffer penalties for hiring illegal aliens? I'm all for it.... Will it reduce the numbers flooding the border? maybe... worth a shot I say.
